I joined this domain forum to sell one of my domains, but my sales threads were repeatedly closed by different moderators. The biggest issue was that every "moderator" seemed to interpret the rules differently.

I contacted the forum owner to ask for clarification. I explained that I was only bumping my sales thread occasionally. I was told that I was posting too often and should only bump every 2–3 days, but I wasn't given a clear explanation of what was actually allowed.

To avoid any issues, I created a new thread and only bumped it once per week. Despite taking an even more conservative approach, another "moderator" closed the thread again.

Another downside is the forum's functionality. It feels outdated, and several features are inconvenient compared to other domain forums, making the overall user experience frustrating.

At that point, I decided to leave the forum. The moderation felt inconsistent, with different moderators enforcing different standards, making it difficult to know what was actually allowed.

The forum owner was trying to be polite in our conversation, but I also received multiple SPAM(promo), which I personally found unnecessary.

Overall, I cannot recommend this forum. In my experience, the "moderation" was inconsistent, the rules were unclear, and the platform itself offered a poor user experience.

Acorn domains used to be a fantastic website for chatting about UK domain names. In the last 6 to 12 months it's gradually gone downhill. Seems like 90% of the members have now migrated to another forum.

Acorn Domains is the premier domain name forum in the World for .co.uk domains. It also has categories for other ccTLDs and of course gTLDs. It's by far the longest established and the moderation is "light handed" but firm when required. It's run very sensibly.

It's received criticism from some quarters in the past that it's too commercialised and keen on selling premium memberships.

Its critics surprisingly tend to remain anonymous but I'm sure that they're obviously altruistic socialists who selflessly run their not-for-profits, registered charities and community interest companies for no remuneration or recompense whatsoever.

How dare the owner of what is a thriving community that has enabled countless relationships, friendships, deals and sales, have the utter temerity to actually want to make a decent ROI on the considerable investment that he outlaid in purchasing the forum from its founder, Alan! Not to mention the enormous investment of time, energy and money in improving AD v1.0 beyond recognition.

Acorn is a great place to start for anyone interested in the UK domain space. Been a member since 2010!

A very good community for UK domains with helpful individuals regularly contributing. Lots of domain content and some good, fair priced domains advertised.

I've been a member on Acorn since 2008, the members are a great bunch, if there's something you don't know relating to domains, whether it's SEO, building sites, WP problems, problems with DNS, whatever, there's always members who know their stuff and help out if you're not very tech inclined.

Not to mention the members who hold some of the most sought after UK domain names, all in one place.
