I use Icedrive mainly to store photographs. The software is easy to use and the photos can be accessed quite quickly from different devices. However, there is a major issue with upload and caching. Up... See more

Customer service sucks
Customer service sucks. The app creates one file for every day. I want all my pictures in one file not needing to go through each file open it and then closing it again inmorder to find a specific picture. Contacted customer service. 5 times. Every time after so many days they repliwd some non sense that showed they have not even read my complain and finally they closed the case. Now I am stuck with ore than 10000 pictures and files and have no idea what to do about it. Can not find a picture.
I used to recommended Icedrive, not anymore...
I had always recommended Icedrive to everyone I knew for the last 6 years. However, I've recently discovered that files are missing (which I haven't touched in years). It's apparent that data corruption has occurred on their Icedrive's servers, likely due to no data scrubbing. Moreover, support team has not responded to tickets in 8 weeks. I therefore cannot recommend Icedrive anymore. Search for an alternative.
Unique experience beyond my expectations.
I had an issue with installing the Icedrive application on a fresh system. I tried my best to solve the problem but unfortunately the problem was very persistent.
Finally I contacted the customer service and they opened a ticket for me. We were in constant communication, due to the instructions that they were giving me. My communications were replied if not within minutes, they were replied in 1-3 hours.
At some point, they sent me a link for a special version of the application to test.
In conclusion, I must say that I had very positive and unique experience beyond my expectations. My problem got solved and application is running flawlessly. Thank you so much.

After 3 years and 3-4 separate times…
After 3 years and 3-4 separate times contacting tech support, I've left Icedrive for good. I wanted to go with a smaller provider instead of a tech giant, but my issues included:
- uploads at 100kbp/s
- constant failures in automatic uploads (having to find the failed files and manually upload them)
- whole WiFis slowing to a crawl when uploading
- unbelievably slow app previews when viewing videos and photos
- desktop drive mounting and unmounting randomly
This happened across ~50 WiFi networks, 2 mobile networks, and 2 mobile phones. Pretty sure it's not me - still got asked "have you run a speed test?". Really hope this gets better for future users, but I've wasted literal days of my life trying to fix this and it's a little silly at this point.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This…
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is the worst piece of software in the world. I transferred all of my files to Ice Drive from Dropbox because I thought it was a comparable product. The biggest mistake I ever made. The product is super slow and I have spent hours and hours checking and copying files for them to jam up my PC - I have wasted hours of my life on this. This product is unusable. I am now having to check thousands of files and folders individually as I try to download and save precious photo's of my family. Please do no make my mistake.

They’ll Actually Delete Your Account
I had IceDrive for several years and honestly had no complaints with them. I really enjoyed it. But if you aren’t exact with your payments they’ll outright delete your account and everything you’ve backed up! Sometimes when my subscriptions are up, it takes me a bit of time to make payments on them. I don’t always get to pay them outright, and like with Google Drive, sometimes they just cancel the subscription till I have the funds to renew the subscription. IceDrive is not that forgiving. I let a few subscriptions expire before I could pay for them, fine, but then one day I get an email saying if I don’t pay the subscription they will terminate my account. Like what? So I panic and go to renew my subscription, mind you I only have £5 to my name, and my subscription was normally £3.99 for several years. I go to renew my subscription and I can no longer reactivate that plan. Was never a problem before but now it is. On top of that they raised the pricing on the 2TB plan I had to like £7.99. I can’t even afford it anymore! So I see that for £5 I can do a 20GB plan, I buy it. Doesn’t work, I STILL get a termination notice. I contact customer support if they’ll help me out till I can afford my normal plan, they say sorry no can do. I then ask if I can at least have a refund me for the last £5 I had trying to save my account, and they tell me no. They wouldn’t even refund me my £5 for a plan I couldn’t use. So either way I’m screwed! So I spent the week literally downloading everything I had stored up over the years, 500GB worth of documents and media, to my laptop bit by bit. I moved everything back over to my Google Drive account, which I used before moving to IceDrive. Once the subscription ended I terminated the account myself and I’ve warned friends and family not to use it. Such a shame, I switched to IceDrive from Google Drive because the downloads and uploads were better. Now I’m back where I started and I have no plans of leaving. If you’re considering IceDrive, be cautious! They can and will terminate your account, and some reviews say they terminated their accounts without notice. I find this very unethical and do not support that as a business, so use them at your own risk.

WEBDAV ist not usable because of rate limits. And this, after 3 months of downtime for upgrades for WEBDAV. A big joke, sorry. I know the answer: Use native apps. This will not work with my requests! Totally a waste of money.

Very bad compared to the competition.
Very bad compared to the competition. Look: I cannot open a pages file inside my iPhone after copying it on my Macbook. Make that make sense in 2025!

IceDrive continues to become horrible
IceDrive continues to become horrible. MS office items are not open on web based login or on the Android phones. Submitted a ticket and as usual, nothing is being done!

Amateur cloud service
Endless problems from the offset. Pretty much impossible to use files directly from the drive. A number of my files have now stopped working. Files not syncing when they should, syncing pairs disappearing, files being randomly deleted and essentially useless customer service. Absolute waste of money. Don't trust them with you files and don't give them your money.

Dissapeared files.
I got a lifetime suscription. After 5 years of use without any problem, one day a lot of files dissapeared. About 15% of the files I got in the cloud. The folders where still there but empty. I reported it several time through tickets. They told me a server was down and that they were working on it. The tickets got closed with no solution.
UPGRADE 21/08/2025
No solution.

totally unreliable for backing up data
webdav connection failing for almost a month now!
Their android app stops backing up periodically and requires you to restart the app or reenter your credentials. In other words it's totally unreliable for backing up valuable photos.

Uploading takes way too long
Your upload time is way, way too bloody slow. This is not 1990.

Full of bugs - Icedrive sort out your PC app!
It seems like the development team on IceDrive is on a permanent holiday since 2020. In approx 5 years of using IceDrive, we've seen hardly any changes or improvements to it.
PC desktop version app only opens in tiny square window. This is not Windows 3.0 in 1993 for God's sake.
Also this is the ONLY backup app that limits syncs and backups to ONLY 10 folders! If one tries to sync an eleventh folder one gets a warning: "You have used 10 out of 10 available pair slots".
This severely limits use of this as a back-up or sync app.
Icedrive haven't changed this limit in 5 years despite many people complaining to them about it! They are determined to drive away customers and go bust.
Most importantly, the IceDrive PC app DOES NOT automatically sync or back up on any PC we try. The 'Transfers' tab at the top, when clicked, shows "No transfers in progress". The ONLY time it initiates transfers is when we waste considerable time to log out of the app and then log in again. Has been like this for five years, on every PC we've tried. It renders this app unusable.
Important to note, I don't suffer these issues with a single other one of the backup apps I am using instead.
Come on IceDrive, you have the potential to be great. Pull your fingers out and fix these basic errors and limitations please!

decent, low speed, no rclone
It's ok, I have a lifetime plan. The only downsides are the lack of speed and rclone support.

Bought lifetime - only problem cut/paste - works really well overall
I bought lifetime a few month ago. Pretty good so far - used on phone and laptop with auto upload of pictures from my phone and mounted as a drive on my laptop.
Issues I had were: Cut and Paste - there was a warning that because the way the OS handles that it is highly recommended to use copy paste only or better the upload function of IceDrive. But Cut and Paste is comfortable.
Also I could not move the AutoUpload Folder into another folder. It had to stay on the highest level in the folder structure. A little annoying.
Then on windows 11 on my laptop if I right click a file in the explorer and click "Icedrive Share" the window resizing and text size isn't correct. It is perfectly useable, but a little ugly.
So if you use copy paste instead of cut paste or sync folders etc. it is practically perfect.

Even free account is useless
I wanted to buy a lifetime plan from Icedrive. My goal was to simply have a backup storage for my photos and videos, as well as to be able to share them with other people.
To test the service first, I created a free account. I uploaded an 8GB folder with pictures and videos. Uploading was uneventful.
Then I decided to download the same folder back to my computer to test downloading. In the middle of the process downloading got cancelled. I tried again. The same story.
I tried to create a shared link to my uploaded folder. Clicked on "Enable" in "Public Link" tab. And got error message: "Abusive IP range detected". I tried this on Brave and Firefox browsers. The same error.
Needless to say, I won't be using IceDrive anymore. Even free version is useless, let alone a paid one.

Poor Performance & Design
I don't use IceDrive anymore because there's too many problems and I just went with a competitor who has been much better.
When you rotate your phone the video goes black and doesn't play for 30 seconds, and sometimes it doesn't ever play even if you wait.
The preview doesn't work for many common file types like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. It's so bad it's borderline useless cause you have to open the document on a computer to even see it.
Their file sharing is bad. You can't just Share a folder with a specific email or the public and have them be able to upload or download any file. You can do that for download but not for upload, you have to specifically Request a file.
Their competitor saves files you view for temporary offline viewing which is incredibly convenient if you forget to make a file available for offline viewing but end up needing it later unexpectedly.
TLDR their previews don't work, sharing is done poorly, and offline files are better handled with competitors.

Depends on your specific needs
I've been using it for almost 4 months and it has worked as intended, i use it as archive for my media productions. When i've needed any file it's been easy to get and upload and download speeds are fine for me. Keeping in mind the price for "life lasting" product it's really good, even if it only lasts for 2 years it would have paid itself already by that time. I trusted the reviews to decide getting it, and i'm happy it was up to the good reputation.
