Their website is very professional, explantory and clear, it makes you feel in good hands. Everthing was very easy with them and their staff is really good people, they take care of all and let you know all you need about the van and the renting process.
Also the van was clean, new and confortable. Driving it was a pleasure and we had a good time. Looking forward to repeat it again! :)
Hi you all. It will get a bit longer to read my evaluation of IndieCampers based on 4000 km from south to north Italy by winter. I got the RV (Active Plus) at Roma Depot during the low season (13 days in December). Initially, it was a dream to travel by RV for my first time and the problems go on.
Our first problem was the temperature of the van during the winter. It is impossible to stay at RV without insulation, no heater system inside; except a normal heater, rented as Extra that made no difference at night. I recommend do not rent Active Plus in winter, you will be in trouble.
Second: small problems. The front light bulb of the right side of the RV was burned, I had to change my trip to find a car mechanic: a day lost. Also, I got another problem, the keys did not turn on the Ducato at night in a dark nowhere. After calling the IndieCampers support, I listened that this problem is well known by attendants, they advised me to shake the steering wheel of the car. And it worked. Now I know that loaded errors passed ahead.
Third and of high importance. The insurance is only for glass windows and tires. Their insurance does not cover LDW / CDW nor your credit card insurance will cover any damage because you rented a "recreative car". This was my nightmare. I rented 13 days by December/2019 for 767€ and standard insurance by 247€, more than 1014€ with other Extras. And prepare yourself for a small damage in the car as >10 cm scratch in the roof that it will cost 959€ (photos attached). This nightmare was made without chance to get three budgets by auto body and paint services in Italy. No chance to discuss the costs with them. They will answer: "
These costs take into consideration time that the campervan needs to be stopped, time spent by staff resolving the issue, time that we cannot rent out the vehicle due to the damages, the damages themselves, differences from mechaednical costs from all over Europe, relocation costs, the drop in value in our product due to damage, and other potential costs."
This is the worst answer that I received so far. I received a RV with lots of scratches on the car body that are registered in the signed contract. The scratches did not stopped the car. The car was passed ahead for another renter. It was 959€ for a small scratch, a value three times higher than the market. Also, they pointed out this is a "standard value in the rental industry". This completely disappointed me and I am thinking about how they are not honest to get the client position made only by terms and conditions (11.3 item) that I did not have time to read. They have a hidden "Rental Firm table prices" for damages, you will not find on the website, only in Depot. A bad practice that made not clear the unfair costs.
After all, I do not recommend and discourage who is thinking to rent a car with these guys. I hope IndieCampers change the practices and insurance for better relationships with their clients. My third point was decisive to evaluate down IndieCampers. You that are reading my evaluation do not deserve this headache.
Communication was great, from booking to pickup and return. We got timely reminders and communicated through whatsapp on pickup at the airport. Also pickup and return process was very professional and quick. Would use indie campers again on our next trip.
I would really recommend Indie Campers. The whole process of booking and pick up was very smooth and easy, and communication was very good throughout. Diogo at the Malaga depot was very welcoming and had lots of good tips and recommendations, and he was passionate about campervans! Good service with a personal touch!
Travelled from Geneva to Zurich with my girlfriend and everywhere in between. Indie camper made it so easy from start to finish and had no hidden fees or charges. Would highly recommend and will be using them again

The worst experience of my life renting with Indie camper was the worst thing to do in my life I had the first Camper which had problem with the transmission and I got blocked in the middle of the way, so I had to pay a taxi to get home and the day after I had to return all the way long to the office (they said Zurich bit it actin Germany) to get another one, they give me another one which had a problem already with the back bumper so with the wind on the street it got broken when I return from the travel they charge me for it without any reason, I booked a full gas bottle and I didn’t receive it so at least i got refunded for it but I have been during my travel out of gas so they kind of destroyed my entire trip! It was the most expensive and horrible trip with a horrible customer service I had in my entire life in renting experience!!! Plus no help from italian customers service which was so rude and incompetent! I asked for a refound for the day i lost on booking and never happen, i asked for a refund for the bumper i got charged no one reply back! I feel so upset and robbed from this company !

We had a great time touring France in the California camper from the team at Indie. We would do it again no problems.
The camper is so comfortable and great on long drives, easy in the town centres and so cool and retro.
It's strange to be asked to review when I've only just booked. Booking was easy enough, though it would be helpful if the search page had a link to the van spec. I had to open another tab to look at the details of each model so I wouldn't have to do the search again.
The level of the gas cylinder seems to be a bit of a gamble if you don't want to pay €30 straightaway but at least you don't automatically have to pay it.
Really looking forward to our trip.
We experienced some dead links and bad automatic google translations in the quote. Also the provided information about the camper and the guarantee for a specific type was terrifying low for a multiple thousand euro transaction like this.

Staff was helpful and prompt. I have only booked the trip at this point so I'll review again afterwards, but the ability to pick up in one spot and drop it off a few days tripping away makes our trip possible. Super handy. Looking forward to this!

Hired a Sporty in the Portuguese winter season and was very happy with the experience overall. Good vehicle and friendly, helpful service. Having the mini heater in winter was a life-saver!
Indie campers in Scotland was a terrible experience. The gas was out in our campers after one day and we barely used it. Called and said it’d be easy to find one. Looked at 10 different stations with 0 Luck. There was no cleaner for our toilets so it was straight pee when dumping them. The roads are too small for huge campers in Scotland. They Also failed to inform us of 90% campsite closures all over Scotland. Do not recommend this company for this area.
