They seem to have a habit of overcoding or miscoding procedures and there is simply no way to resolve overcharges within their hostile system. Seems more a feature than a bug. Happened to me, happened to my SIL within the same couple of months. If you can, go somewhere else

Your processes are ridiculous

Your processes are ridiculous. When using your card at a Chiropractor, most times every visit is accepted, then due to the assistant adding a surcharge for card usage, they deny the claim. What could I possibly be purchasing at a Chiropractor besides treatment. They have to realize that there was an error by the vendor, but they want me to follow up with receipts and services rendered. All this aggravation for a $1.20. Ridiculous.. Now my FHA card is suspended until I provide the necessary documentation. I would advise everyone to put your money into a high interest savings account, where you can do whatever, you want with your money, instead of these HSA or FHA.
These hospitals do not provide detail information when they provide you with a receipt. Normally, it will state hospital visit (Ex. Stonybrook Hospital) $100, which is a copay. This company wants detailed information on pre-surgical visits. What procedure are you receiving, who is providing it and description of procedure. IT'S A PRESUGICAL EXAMINATION!! GEEZ

The lady who visited our house.

The lady who visited our house was named Patty (I think). We live in Dallas Oregon and she visited us yesterday (January 9th). I can only say she was a breath of fresh air in this damaged world we live in. She was funny, intuitive, and "no holds barred" committed to our health and welfare. Better than most of the doctors I/we have seen in the last few years. We didn't want her to leave......Please send her back next year.

My mother uses optum and they gave her a number to call for her prescription refill, when she called I overheard her giving out her checking account info and some personal info (to a person who didn’t speak english very well) before I said no more. Her bank account was hacked two days later and thankfully shut down after processing one bogus “test” check. Now they are sending her bills and getting her to pay before her medicare is done processing them, so we’re now trying to recoup payments that were supposed to be covered.

Optum cancels many insurance plans

Optum is horrible. They continue to cancel even reputable in-network health insurance companies as well as Medicare in the PNW. Everett clinic and Seattle Poly clinic were bought by Optum. Since hundreds of thousands have had to find doctors elsewhere.

Optum is awful

Optum is awful. Wait hours and US should have universal healthcare. We’re the only under developed nation in this country doesn’t have universal healthcare. What a joke of a country. Also, they take no cash and I can’t message my cardiologist anymore. My doctor Dowty. basically gave me advice for a gastric bypass when he’s really overweight what a hypocrite and then Dr. Tori literally told me that my like pain is just as bad as people in wheelchairs, which is ridiculous. I’m in chronic pain. I’ve had prostatitis for 10 years. This is such a joke. I hate Optum!

Yesterday(11/17/25) I spent 30 minutes…

Yesterday(11/17/25) I spent 30 minutes attempting to contact a doctor's office for an appt., to no avail. Today (11/18) 95 minutes of my time was wasted before success was achieved. All the time listening to horrendous music. I have a concussion diagnosed at the hospital. I need to see the neurologist because I am having issued. My appointment is for 2/2/1926. How is that great personal care. This summer I had a rash on my back, Urgent Care did not correct the issue so I made an appt. with my dermatologist. Earliest appt. was October 6th. By the time I saw the doctor the rash was gone.
All of the medical staff is great but the quality of your operation in running the facility doesn't even rate an F-! Our time is also valuable, and you should not be so thoughtless in wasting it. More to the point if I need a doctor today an appt. in 2 months is useless. Show the care you espouse to have.

Greedy Greedy People

If I could give Optum or any company associated with them a lower rating I would. I want to be honest and upfront. I am a former employee of Optum. One of the largest medical practices in Eugene, Springfield, Oregon was bought out by Optum in late 2022. Working conditions took a dive after that. Employees were only offered one choice of insurance benefits. It of course was through Optum, What a joke, that's all I will say about that. Unfortunately local healthcare in our towns went downhill fast. Optum terminated A ton of patients from their primary care doctors. I noticed a pattern in the patients that were let go, It was all about weeding out people on insurance plans that Optum did not want to accept. They will not bill to any insurance company they are not contracted with, even if you have out of network benefits. Why? Because they make more money by over billing. It is a lot easier to over bill for services if, you are the insurance company who owns the medical practice that is contracted with the same insurance company and it is the patients insuring company. Talk about the WOLF guarding the hen house. I saw over billing on my own EOB's. The only way to stop this company if for people to quit signing up for their insurance plans. There plans look good on paper but they just degrade our healthcare system.

I echo many of the bad reviews

I echo many of the bad reviews. Do not use the service. They said they do TB risk assessment and basically do not offer the service. When asked for a refund they give you the run around saying IT has to approve it. Just avoid them and go to PlushCare or another website that gives you what you need.

Optum is destroying healthcare in the south Willamette Valley of Oregon, just as in the Hudson Valley of New York. Even Optum's own staff are open about how bad it has gotten. The greedy execs running Optum are going to end up in the trash bin of executive has-beens. The State of Oregon is beginning to take action. The feds are right behind them. The DoJ is investigating all of UnitedHealth Group, on which Optum is a part. Hell knoweth no fury like a patient-doctor pair scorned by greedy corporate executives. Just wait until the physicians show up in front of a congressional committee.

I wish I could give this -5 stars

I wish I could give this -5 stars. I had a virtual visit scheduled with UHC as a new Medicare recipient. Optum could not connect. The Optum link opened, verified my phone and microphone, but it could not connect for the visit. The woman from UHC was very nice but she said this happens often. What a waste of her time and mine.

The foot dr granted us a 10 minute appointment. We were surprised he didn’t mention my scaling feet the first time. The second time we went he claimed he did. But in 10 minutes how much can you say. We have been calling to get a bill and the message says to hold your place in line leave a phone number. They emailed us to say they are sending us to collections. We’ve never got a bill to check to see if both insurances paid.

1 - Optum Physical Health SUCKS1!

1. If I could have, I would have given Optum Physical Health a "0" review!
2. I've been waiting on Prior Auth for additional Physical Therapy appointments, since 8-22-25. Today is 9-18-25.
3. They are associated with my AARP UHC Medicare Advantage coverage and they "suck"!
4. I've tried calling UHC twice last week and have gotten no where. They totally lied to my face about not receiving any clinical documentation to support the request. ALL lies!
5. I have been in touch with my Ortho provider and they verified that clinicals were indeed faxed to Optum Physical Health on 8-22-25.
6. I'm a retired RN. My job before retiring was to obtain Prior Authorization for my patient's infusions and other medications. I know exactly how they all work and they work at "denying" everything! Do lie and deny receiving documents and the requests.
7. We all deserve better! I feel sorry for those who don't know how to be their own advocate, but since my background was in this area, I do and will push!
8. Dr. Oz really needs to step it up quite a bit. These insurance companies don't care and neither do the people that work for them. It's very rare to find someone that has empathy!
9. I will be forwarding my complaints to the insurance commission, Dr. Oz and my state's federal legislators!

Horrible and getting worse every time I com. Continue to be significantly short staffed with doctors limited to 8 minutes per visit. Why an insurance company can own a medical practice is beyond me and screams that this system is broken. The staff there is great but are leaving in droves. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST.

I can't imagine how they function

I can't imagine how they function, or how someone who is sick gets through this No one seems resonsible for this terrible billing system. Trying to pay a bill. The phone tree had a "no longer available" phone number, I called back requested a call back, got one, heard laughing in the background, and was put on hold not to the colorado Springs payment system, but to Southwest Medical in Nevada. NO idea how to pay this bill. I had no idea it was outstanding, never received anything, even when I visited again. Now suddenly I owe money that is in collections and no one can tell me what it's for.

Optum RX really messed up

Optum RX really messed up. They played me for weeks claiming they had my script and would mail it to me. They lied. After hours on the phone, emails and the stress they put me though, I can’t believe what a joke this company is. Terrible customer service and even worse communication. DONT USE OPTUM RX!
