Rip Off
Had a burst pipe outside called someone would be with us in 30 - 90 mins - not the case - 3 hours. Plumber arrived was there for 25 mins, taped, glued the leak and charged £400. Had to sign ‘contract’ before starting work and strict payment when left. Yes we don’t have water pipe pouring out water but will be getting local plumber back to correct and make good the issue. Usually use Village Heating who are amazing and can be here for hours and charge half the price. Our job with Paynes was a complete rip off.

I have had a solar system and battery installed and would never use this company again.
There were problems on installation and teething problems in use. I have found it simpler and very much cheaper to contact the manufacturers directly and not waste time with Payne's.
I have had no reply to several emails and have escalated the matter to Stephen Payne the MD. Yet again, not even the courtesy of a reply.
I had tried to support a local business but have been very disappointed. At my last boiler service the boiler was left inoperable over a bank holiday.
MUCH BETTER AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE. GO THERE!!

Regret using Paynes
Deeply regret not doing more due diligence before using Paynes for our solar.
The installation date was moved at short notice, the install location, which had been agreed with sales person couldn't be accommodated by the engineers.
I received zero help in setting up the software for the system having to figure it out myself.
The biggest issue is it's near impossible to get hold of them. I've now got a fault on the system and after a YEAR of chasing I finally got them to test and confirm there is a fault only to try and charge me £1700 to resolve.

Truly awful company
Truly awful company. Employed to fix non working heat pump. Initially poor communication with no confirmation of appointment Then £180 callout to simply confirm the error on the pump that I had originally told them. Then an additional £390 to replace a £50 part that took half hour to do.
This did not fix the problem and they left me with no heating. They said it needed a specialist to fix it ‘maybe a refrigerant engineer’.
I contacted another company. (not refrigerant experts) who got the heating going by merely adjusting some settings on the unit. However this cost me another callout fee. Refused to reduce the price of nearly £600 despite not fixing my heating.
I only used this company due to a recommendation from my flats building manager so did not read reviews.
DO NOT USE! All the bad reviews are true.

NEW BOILER / GAS LEAK
Avoid at all costs. New boiler installed incorrectly causing a gas leak which could have resulted in serious health issues or even worst an explosion.
They have also caused a water leak to my downstairs neighbours flat.
Boiler still not working correctly and losing water pressure.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Still waiting for boiler fitting to be completed, started in November and still waiting for radiators, associated plumbing , flue work etc.
Original timescale ,3 days now nearly 3 months and many days taken off work with no attendance! Am now waiting for the exposed condensate pipe to freeze !
Though that would at least stop the purge of water spilling onto neighbours conservatory?

Dire. Very bad service, communication and outcome. They were asked to fit an electric thermostat at my ageing mother's house. Following their visit the thermostat was installed, but it didnt affect the heating in any way at all, which had stopped working. They sent another guy around two days later who confirmed that it didn't work and said he'd, "at minimum", make sure that the heating came on when the hot water did, before he left. He did absolutely nothing. I was just on the phone to them and eventually got through, they put me on hold to see when someone could come and fix it. The line went dead after I'd been on the phone for 40 minutes. So far they've simply broken the heating in the flat of an 86 year old woman and have done absolutely nothing to remedy the situation after 4 days.

Unfair charges and poor communication
Unfair charges and poor communication - A call-out 10 months ago for a routine repair resulted in a fault not being properly diagnosed and a second call-out to fix the problem properly. Charged me for the second call-out as well as the first. Invoice has sat unpaid for months, as I stated back then why I thought it was an unfair charge. No further communication from Paynes until today when someone called to say they would not agree that the problem should have been diagnosed properly the first time around. I feel this is unfair and won't be using Paynes again.

Shocking Customer Service!…
My heating broke on Christmas day and required a part to be fitted, I was told it would be put on order and I would get a call back on Wednesday. I called Wednesday to find out what was going on and was told I would get a call back, that did not happen so I called again to chase on Thursday. A lady answered the phone and I was told that I had to wait another 5 days and it would be fitted on Tuesday. I told the lady that I had already waited 5 days and her response was I cannot magic an engineer up and Tuesday or nothing basically. Her attitude was extremely poor, I advised that I would call Tandridge to speak to them as they are outside the SLA, her response was well do that then and before I could say anything further she disconnected the call. I am shocked that she hung up on me, Customer service here is shocking and she clearly needs more training as her level of customer service was very poor. I am not confident that she has even booked the appointment! I have already complained to Tandridge who was also very shocked about the poor service I have received and asked me to send further information to them direct.
