Just perfect!

During the build of our polytunnel we must have made about 50 calls with silly questions, and looking for confirmations. Each time we were met with an always cheerful voice on the other end of the phone, happy to take the time to talk you through till you're able to understand. The tunnel is great quality too.
Can't recommend them highly enough

I could find what I wanted on the website but being able to add it to the basket wasn't clear and required a phone call, which was quickly sorted out. Delivery was quick but I was disappointed that the delivery charge was £13 for a few lightweight items, whereas the postage was a little over £4. Materials were of good quality.

I will not buy from this company again

I bought a polytunnel from Robinson Polytunnels on 21 October 2021 and I constructed it at the end of December 2021. I concreted the steel hoops into the ground as per the instructions and I opted for the trenching method as per the instructions for the polythene. Unfortunately after less than a month the structure collapsed unexpectedly due to the the steel hoops splitting in half (photos attached). When the steel hoops had split and collapsed they ripped the polythene, etc, so effectively the whole structure needed replacing. I contacted Robinson Polytunnels - but after showing them the photos and going back and forward with emails they refused to offer any sort of remedy, in particular I have not received a refund or replacement parts. The company has blamed my installation stating that in only installing a timber end frame at one end, I have effectively caused the steel hoops to fail. I do not agree with this conclusion, as can clearly be seen in the photos, the steel hoops have failed around the entire structure and in the middle. Steel should not fail in this way. The timber end frames serve as door frames and given the size of the tunnel I did not need doors at both ends. To put it simply, even on the side where the timber end frame is standing the steel has failed.
I believe this steel was faulty as it was supplied with holes - at the time of installation I was not sure the purpose of these but have since learnt they should not have been there. The most disappointing aspect of this experience has been the rude response I have received from Robinson Polytunnels. For example, in his latest email to me Stuart said “Good afternoon Harry,
Perhaps I had been too polite in my initial response, in an attempt to spare your feelings. However, it seems I should have been blunt with you from the outset.” This is clearly a very poor customer service.
I reserve the right to report this to trading standards as clearly someone could have been seriously injured when the steel split and collapsed. I also reserve the right to issue a small claim in the county court for my damages and to recover my costs.
To summarise, based on my experience I personally will not buy from this company again.

Reply from Robinson Polytunnels Limited

It is usually a pleasure to respond to customer reviews. In this case however we must respond out of necessity.
1. The end frames are a structurally integral part of the polytunnel framework, supplied as part of the basic kit and constructed at BOTH ends of the polytunnel, as detailed in the instructions.
2. A polytunnel MUST have the end frames at each end to secure the polythene main cover. If this is not done then the polythene will not remain in place and will cause damage to the rest of the framework.
3. At the one end of the polytunnel where the end frame was constructed, the polythene wasn’t battened to the timber end frame (as detailed in the instructions). This is essential to stop the polythene from tearing away.
4. Apparent in the photographs supplied by Mr Stokes, a steel tube has broken at the point of the pre-punched holes in the foundation tubes. The pre-punched hole is for the concrete tie bar which is set into the concrete. Therefore the foundation tubes had been installed UPSIDE-DOWN and WITHOUT the concrete tie bars. NOT as per the instructions.
5. Because the end frames weren’t constructed at both ends of the polytunnel (as per the instructions), it is not possible to tension the polythene (let alone fix it!). This is evident in the photographs supplied by Mr Stokes showing that the polythene is nowhere near tight enough.
6. Ultimately, Mr Stokes had not followed the instructions in several fundamental details which have caused the polythene to detach and result in damage to the polytunnel framework which had not been built correctly.
7. We offered to supply any replacement parts at a heavily discounted price. Mr Stokes rejected our offer and insisted on either a full refund or a complete replacement polytunnel.
It is not nice to have to tell a customer that they have made a really bad job of constructing their polytunnel kit and, fortunately, this is the only time that we have found it to be necessary.

10 foot polytunnel

I recently bout a 10 foot by 10 foot polytunnel from Robinson Polytunnels and now i have it built i am very impressed with the result. I was told to expect a 10 working day wait due to their volume of orders but they managed to get it done quicker which i was happy about and they were in contact with me to let me know when it was coming. The instructions were reasonably easy to follow and i managed to get it built without any issues. Now it is up it is a very sturdy structure. Although the weather has not put it to the test yet, i am confident that with the ground anchor plate option i picked for the foundations is set into the ground more than deep enough that it wont be going anywhere. The metal tubes are of a good thickness for the size of the structure and the timber supplied for the door and base rail was if good quality, nice and straight and they sent more than enough. The polythene was big enough to easily overlap for a good fit. I would buy from them again because for the price i got an good sized structure but i expect this one will last me for many years.

6M X 4M galvanised fruit cage

The 6M X 4M galvanised fruit cage that I purchased is excellent; well made, sturdy and easy to assemble, except for the two issues mentioned below. If it were not for these I would have given five stars instead of four.
1)There were not enough cable ties supplied to hold the net on at the recommended spacing - I had to go out and buy some more.
2)The top net was not cut to size which meant it was quite fiddly to get to fit neatly.
The finished article though is excellent.

Thank you very much for your review of the Fruit Cage Kit Mr Glynn-Williams.

We really appreciate your feedback regarding the quantity of cable ties and the size of the netting for the top of your fruit cage.
I fully agree that fitting the netting to the top of the fruit cage is a fiddly job - It's a surprisingly large area of netting which is stretchy and not very easy to handle. The size of the netting is generally dictated by the standard rolls widths available and is supplied slightly "oversized".
I'll also check the quantities of cable ties on the packing lists and amend where necessary.

Kind regards

Can’t fault this company.

We live in France and ordered new plastic and tapes to tie in with a trip back to the UK. There was a delay in Robinson’s receiving our order but they went out of their way to deliver our order to Oxford so that I could bring it back to France with me. Kept me informed at all times as to what was happening. Great service.
