Been at Roots for 2 years now and all I can say is that it’s been fantastic, it’s like one big family up Sugar loaf lane. Dave aka Coxy has been very helpful and supportive.

The alltment site at Bowshaw is very well organised by the manager Will. The field is beautiful and plots are variable sizes offering choice . They also organise variable activitues. It is still developing as a new site but I would highly recommend
Love being part of roots
Love being part of roots! Our allotment opened I think October time, beds all prepared, plenty of plug plants and a whole load of seeds alongside the tool shed full of every tool we needed to get going, was able to plant out straight away and have enjoyed a cracking harvest of winter salads and spring onions once grown. Loved it that much I started out with 1 and ended up with a group plot. I find Joel our patch manager to be a fountain of knowledge and always ready to give advice on planting, harvesting and keeping our plants safe from pests the natural ways. After being on the council wait list for an excessive amount of years, I was delighted to get a roots patch. My husband now joins in with me and it’s our little patch of heaven in the countryside, where it’s not just about the growing, but about the learning and the community that’s being built, meeting some lovely likeminded people and taking part in workshops that give you some really good skills! I even made my own willow Xmas wreath!! I spend as much time as I can there and it is absolutely one of the best parts of my life now and I look forward to seeing what my first growing season brings!!

You wouldn't believe the improvement in my mental & physical well being because i've got my hands & feet on the Earth.
So good, we did it twice :)
A fun, safe community environment
At last I have an area where I can grow my own food! The plot manager is friendly and helpful, and teaching me as a complete beginner how to do so. The environment is safe and friendly too, with learning events and a great place to make new friends and be part of a new community
A really great idea and cost effective
A really great idea and cost effective. Once you factor in the compost, seed and tool costs, even the largest plot size works out well. Also a really friendly organisation.
I love roots
I love roots. The sugar loaf site is fabulous it's manager Dave(coxy)is helpful and has so much knowledge. You get a great package with seeds/plug plants and the use of tools. The community are friendly and always there to help if needed.
Roots Stourbridge
Having a Roots allotments in Stourbridge has given my family a big boost. I take my two young children, get them involved in getting the tools from the shared shed, watering the plants and getting their hands dirty as we learn and grow together. We've approached it as a kind of 'forest school' activity, that we access on our terms and becomes good value as a result.
It's super friendly, Coxy the manager is super helpful, thoughtful and a champion of the good vibes approach (and safe and productive growing too!).
Relaxing in nature. I am now in my second year with Roots…
I am now in my second year with Roots and it has been a great experience all round. Our site manager Dave (coxy) is a fount of knowledge and a great help. And to grow your own runner beans, strawberries, cucumber, to name but a few is so satisfying,. Planting the seeds for this year, which are supplied by Roots, and planning for this season, outside in the fresh air, lifts the soul.
Fantastic experience
I’ve had a patch at the Newbottle site for a while and it’s brilliant. The support is excellent, and everyone is helpful and supportive.
It’s a perfect way to learn about growing veg, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
I have my plot for just over a year now…
I have my plot for just over a year now at the Garforth allotments site, and it's just amazing! Roots provides every year a big variety seed packs and plug plants for the season, they have a WA Community chat, an App where you can have access to all kinds of information, courses, and services, and you can earn points that you can redeem on services or items. Roots gives a lovely community feeling, everyone is friendly, and we all help each other, and there are regular organised events and workshops. On top of that, you get a great, organic produce from your plants and seeds due to No Dig plots. They have small plots, regular plots, and family plots, so you can go as crazy as you want with growing your own produce! 🤪
ROOTS has been great for me
ROOTS has been great for me, it has helped my mental heath a lot, being able to get back to gardening & being surrounded by such an amazing community. The site manager & the organisation heads are always on hand to help.
Had my plot for 3 years
Had my plot for 3 years, and I absolutely love roots. Such an amazing option beyond traditional allotment plots. Highly recommend.

We have been growing with roots for two years at the Meadow Hill Croydon allotment. Considering my husband and I had never gardened before - this has been absolutely amazing. The support and community is so strong and roots provides everything you need to grow. It’s so fulfilling to grow your own and Roots makes that possible.
Friendly and lovely location.
Great place. Friendly atmosphere. Dave does a fantastic job looking after everyone. Lovely location and all the tools you need on site. It’s addictive. A wonderful place to spend time growing👍
Although new to the patch
Although new to the patch, we have found it to be really friendly and perfect for us as beginners. Having equipment provided, and support on hand is invaluable- thanks!

I highly recommend Roots and my experience so far has been nothing but positive!
I’m a beginner and this is certainly less daunting than starting from scratch. You receive expert advice on site from the patch manager and much needed moral support! All the tools you need are on site and you don’t even have to buy anything to give it a go. Roots provide a bumper pack of seeds and plug plants for you to get started. Water is included too.
I cannot even apply to my council for an allotment as the waiting list is closed and has been for some time.
Fantastic location for me too. I am recommending to all my friends who have shown interest too.

Our allotment is great with such a wonderful community. We always are looking forward to going onto our plot to grow some fruit and veg. Also all the necessary tools are provided on site so you can start with basically nothing. It's overall a wonderful concept too to bring like minded people together. Absolutelt loving it!
Roots are fab!
Absolutely love my 2 patches at Roots. It's so nice to come and spend a day pottering round and growing my own produce.
Dave the plot manager is helpful and friendly and we have some lovely chats. He works really hard to keep the site at Stourbridge in tiptop condition.
I have met some fab people so far and I hope I will be here for a long time!
