Staying with ENKOR was such a smooth…

Staying at ENKOR was such a smooth experience. The apartment and building was almost luxury. Definitely a win for the pricing. I had a 7eleven right under the building wich helped a lot in the first few days. I really appreciated the no deposit policy and the paperwork support with getting my ARC—it saved me a lot of stress. The staff were super friendly and spoke English, which made everything easier. The community events were a nice touch too, it felt less like just a place to stay and more like being part of something. I got a great welcome in Korea with enkor and made friends for live with their community App letsFIP.

Enkor canceled my semester long booking…

Enkor canceled my semester long booking less than 14 days before move in with nothing other than a template auto-response. This shows a complete lack of consideration and responsibility towards the foreign students their platform and services are directed at, and they further ignored messages for assistance in booking an alternate stay. I highly recommend against booking anything with enkor and they have shown with clear disregard that they are only trying to profit off foreigners.

Cheaper than Airbnb

I wanted to make a reservation through Airbnb because I had to visit Korea as an exchange student for three months, but I was worried about the high price, but I went into the platform with the recommendation of the school and saw that Airbnb-like accommodations were 10-20% cheaper, and I was a little disappointed that I had to take reservation towels and daily necessities separately, but it was good that I could make reservations that much more cost-effective. Also, it was good that all the staff could speak English, maybe because more than 90% of foreign friends used the platform

Really bad experience

Really dissappointing experience with them. My accommodation had visible black mold and I developed really bad lung and sinus problems. I contacted Enkor Stay about it (with pictures of water damage and mold), thinking they would follow their own Cancellation and Refund Policy, that stated that you can get a full refund if: "Space isn't safe or clean upon arrival, including dirty linen, dangerous vermin or insects or safety or health hazards." I thought it's pretty clear that the room was a health hazard since I had to visit a doctor and had to start asthma medication and take antibiotics because of the room. Their response was that I need to negotiate with the host myself, and in the end I had to pay 400 000 won penalty (in addition to the 6 nights I stayed there, that I was okay with paying for) for wanting to leave the place. I was too tired and sick from the place, not to mention being alone in a new country, to fight about it, which I also told the customer service when asking their help.

They have since edited their Cancellation and Refund Policy (I still have screenshots from the previous one) and replaced the previous statement with: "Poor residental management can be subject to complaints, but it's not directly eligible for refunds" and that in case of mold "proof from a reputable organization or institution confirming that these elements posed a threat to the guest's health must be provided." I wonder, how are guests able to get these kind of documents, and in what time, and how much would those cost? It is clear to me that they changed their policies after my situation. Their customer service agent also said that I am as much to blame about the situation as the host (which I find difficult to understand because how could mold in the room be my fault) and the host blamed the mold and water damage to previous tennants and called me difficult.

I would not recommend Enkor Stay, since they offer bad customer help and don't take responsibility of their listings. Their updated policy states that also very clearly.

Last note: In Enkor Stays defense, they said I can contact them again if I am not happy with my negotiation with the host. But I was afraid of contacting them, since their response time was not fast and the host was bombing me with messages, not to mention the fact that they were more inclined to believe and defend the host than their customer.
