Damage Caused During Outdoor Service – No Assistance from SweepSouth

I have used SweepSouth’s indoor cleaning services many times in the past, and one of the reasons I felt comfortable booking through them was because they advertise insurance cover for damage to property caused during a booking. Because of this, I trusted the platform and assumed the same level of protection would apply across their services.

Today I used SweepSouth’s outdoor services for the first time and booked a gardener to cut my grass. During the job, the gardener unfortunately shattered my glass sliding door while mowing the lawn.

When I contacted SweepSouth to report the damage, I was surprised to learn that they refused to assist with the cost, stating that their insurance cover only applies to indoor cleaning services and not outdoor services.

This limitation was not disclosed or clearly communicated during the booking process, which is extremely misleading. As a customer who has used their platform multiple times, I reasonably expected the same protections to apply across their services.

Accidents happen and I understand that, but the lack of transparency and refusal to assist after damage occurred is very disappointing. If SweepSouth offers different levels of protection depending on the service, this should be clearly communicated upfront so customers can make an informed decision before booking.

Based on this experience, I would caution others to carefully check what is actually covered before using SweepSouth’s outdoor services, as the protections many customers assume are in place may not apply.

SWEEPSOUTH

I booked a weekly cleaning service through Sweepsouth for the first time. The lady arrived on the 8th March 2024, and promptly began cleaning, however certain areas were not attended to. The past Friday, 15th March 2024, I expected her to arrive again promptly in the morning for cleaning services. I received a personal phone call from her to say she was sick and at a particular petrol station, close to me and if I would come pick her up as she was very ill. This is already a red flag for me! I informed her to contact Sweepsouth immediately. According to Sweepsouth website, she should have contacted them directly not me. I immediately contacted Sweepsouth to inform them of the situation and at the time I was also concerned about her well-being. 15 minutes later she arrived at my home in a vehicle with another 2 men. I spoke with her outside my gate and she informed me that she was not well and couldn't work that day. I accepted it and wished her a well recovery. When I went onto Sweepsouth App, I realised that she booked her time of arrival in on the app! I then immediately cancelled the booking through the app. By Friday afternoon I saw a cancelation fee of R175.00 from Sweepsouth. I contacted them telephnically on Saturday and spoke with a consultant to explain that the house cleaner/domestic cancelled on me last minute, so I cancelled her service for the day via their app. I was then told, by the consultant, that the computer system automatically charges a cancellation fee BUT as I had indicated via the app that the lady cancelled on me due to being ill, the R175.00 cancelation charges to my bank account would be reversed buy Sunday. This has not happened. I have cancelled all forthcoming services. If any other funds are taken out of my account, I will speak with a lawyer as I cannot even remove my banking details from their app. Be very cautious and aware!

Bank account debited for no reason

They debited my bank account for no reason and seem very disinterested in tracking the payment. I don't expect to get it back. Don't ever give them your banking details, their website isn't safe. Don't ever download their app.

Pathetic South African company

Pathetic South African company. Stole my money and the maid they sent stole my valuables. The company refuses to take responsibility which is completely against their policy. They protect their workers when they’ve committed a crime. I’ve filed a police report on them and their maid
