Due to shipping delays, I was not sent a shipping confirmation for my magazine subscription. When I inquired, they not only attempted to track the package, but sent a replacement magazine overnight when they found no tracking information. Unfortunately, I received both magazines on the same day. But now, my husband and I don't have to share!

I had a question about the delivery of the magazine, which I emailed on the weekend. I received a response within an hour and the magazines were shipped very soon thereafter. As of this wasn’t great customer service enough, they then followed up to make sure I was happy. Wow! Long live The Rake!

HIDDEN VAT CHARGES
The Rake advertises FREE SHIPPING if you spend up to €200, but they do not tell you when you purchase the items that, after 3 weeks of receiving and accepting the items, you will have a surprise bill of over €100 from FEDEX, because of the new taxes due to Brexit. They never mention this on the purchase page, on their receipt, or at the delivery. It will come as a surprise. When speaking to customer service, they point to their FAQs that says there are new VAT charges that may be attached. A line they must have just added as a result of Brexit, but you have to find the FAQ page and read everything, so it is basically hidden. Why don't they just notify you of these potential charges when you make the purchase? So, don't be surprised if there are other hidden fees on other pages on the site. Read everything before purchasing. But, also know that, as a loyal customer of The Rake, I never had a reason to read the FAQs, and I never had to pay any additional VAT charges, so I never thought to read the FAQs with my most recent purchase. It will be my last purchase. Things have changed as a result of Brexit, and they make no effort to inform their regular customers. Now, also understand that the purchases I made were from EU companies going to an EU address, but since I purchased through The Rake, FEDEX charged me and The Rake wants nothing to do with these hidden charges on the customer. For the customers sake, during their Brexit transition period, they should have informed their customers more clearly when purchasing and/or maybe ask the EU companies to ship to their EU customers. Moving forward, for EU customers that do not want to pay the additional VAT from The Rake, I suggest to just buy directly to the EU companies themselves. They are obviously not customer friendly during their Brexit transition period and put all the additional fees on their loyal customers.
