I purchased an ASN from Trillium, believing them to be an honest host, but that turned out to be a mistake.
Initially, I found it odd that Trillium appeared much smaller than the owner portrayed, but I chose to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it turns out they aren’t even a verified RIPE member and therefore cannot sponsor ASNs. After delays and a supposed submission to RIPE, they told me the request was being processed through a “partner LIR,” which turned out to be a false claim.
After an unusually long wait, I finally received my ASN. Shortly after, I joined a conversation in the BreezeHost Discord, where several people were calling out Trillium's owner, Ethan for his questionable practices. The owner, Ethan, responded by blocking me on Discord and blacklisting my account from their site.
This became a real issue because RIPE requires annual renewal fees for ASNs, and without access to manage mine, I would need to find a new sponsor in a few months, or it would be revoked. Without any way to contact Trillium directly, I was left without options.
During the registration process, they also requested access to our ASN to add the first peer (we added MNT-TRLM), but that never happened. I’m not an expert on network setups, but this seemed problematic, and we eventually had to remove their access.
In the end, we paid $50 for what turned out to be a resold $15 ASN that could have stopped working within a few months.
There are also some shady dealings surrounding Trillium’s owner, which I won’t go into detail about.
