The banner on the website offering free delivery before Christmas was misleading (didn't state ex vat). I ordered wood and was charged delivery. Company admitted misleading banner and changed it (too late for me). When I asked them to consider a refund, they basically said "tough".

Still very new to seriously working with wood but slowly learning more about different woods and their behaviour thanks to Woodshop Direct and some truly informative videos and articles. Thank you.

I ordered some American oak, some beech worktop, and some oak edging strips. It arrived promptly and was uniformly excellent in quality. With this I have built a fixed bookcase, a fitted kitchen that is easily dismantled for re-painting and varnishing, and finished the oak flooring that runs through the house, all while my wife was visiting family overseas. The excellent quality of the timber was key, and I will continue to use them.

Quoted cost for a 2m by .042m by 0.027m piece of walnut, £547 absolute clown show prices, as per other reviews way over priced.

I spent all my working life in Customer facing roles and I can put my hand on my heart and say how brilliant Woodshopdirect have been. I am a DIY amateur and cannot saw a straight line to save my life so ordered sheets of MDF and wood for the frame cut to my (varying) sizes. It has been a perfect experience from the very start. I would recommend them for any pre-cut timber requirements you may have.

Awful company - I purchased timber from them despite the high product costs. When it arrived not matching any of the descriptions given on their website I requested to exchange the timber for a different hardwood. Customer services declined any exchange with the reasoning that 'colour variations is unavoidable' and despite my offering had no interest in seeing photos of the product they had sent me or discussing the matter further. Citizens advice have advised I make a formal case through the Ombudsman as this company do not follow consumer rights laws. Do not ignore the previous 1* reviews for this company.

Weird site. Every time I entered exact same measurements for the exact same product, got different quotes ranging from around £160 - nearly £700. This didn't inspire confidence & that led me to read reviews. Those, coupled with extortionate delivery costs, I decided I was too wary to order even at the cheapest price quoted.

Went to these guys for some timber for a project, website looked easy to use, everything seemed to be OK. Then I got a quote through that was over 4 times the next best quote I had, in fact the quote for softwood was almost double the cost of quality hardwood for the same items from competitors. Christ knows how much hardwood is.

So I would shop around, these people seem to be hellishly expensive, try a local timber yard, I did and saved almost £1500 on a single project order.

Product aside, the delivery costs and dispatches are horrific. Im really not sure why my four small pieces of wood would cost more to deliver than the wood itself.

Delivery costs £81.00 to the UK - not worth it.

Lovely quality on some planed walnut and oak. I was nervous about how the wood would be packaged, but there was very clearly a lot of diligence applied when preparing the shipment and the wood has arrived in perfect condition. Super happy.

Excellent service . Order dispatched and delivered before estimated delivery date. Wood cut to size and perfect for restoring my garden bench.

Ordered some plywood for delivery in London. Delivery costs are exhorbitant (more than the cost of the wood!). Yet for that price there is no information around delivery schedule. It's down to you being available at any point during a up to 3 day window. Extremely poor communication and poor customer service all around. Will not be using the company again and would advise against

I ordered a piece of Sapele to use as a mantle piece. Fast delivery. Exactly to speciations. Beautifully sized and planed, all that was needed was a light sand with 180 then 240 and we were good to go. The timber itself had fantastic grain and no imperfections. Very impressed. Will use again without question.

Love the Idigbo..looks great as a kitchen window sill..treated with colourless satin Sikken.

I ordered a small piece of Iroko to finish off the edge of a kitchen cabinet. (40mm x 15mm x 1600).
This was quite inexpensive, the delivery cost was more than the price of the wood.
Unfortunately, when the piece arrived, although it was carefully wrapped, I found that it had somehow been snapped in two while in transit. I phoned Woodshop direct and told them about the problem. They immediately told me they would replace the product but asked me to email them a photograph of the broken iroko. This I did and soon I received a reply saying that they would replace the timber as soon as they could. The new piece arrived yesterday, this time in perfect condition. I was very impressed with the response from Woodshop Direct and will go back again next time I need a bespoke bit of timber.

I ordered a large quantity of both sheets and timber cut and planed to size to save some time on a job. Once the order was ready (the day before the estimated dispatch date) I was contacted to book in my pallet on a day that suited me. Though one sheet was scratched upon arrival, it was promptly replaced once photographs had been sent. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. I will certainly be dealing with them again in future!
