Hannah was so helpful and made the process of changing card machine very easy. Rates were cheaper than my old supplier which is always a bonus.

Update: £7,000 still outstanding despite an October refund promise
Worldpay’s latest correspondence has only added to our disappointment. We were told that the £7,000 taken from our business account in July would be returned in October. We are still seeking a confirmed date when that money will reach our account.
To recap: Worldpay withheld a customer’s original £7,000 payment and never released it to our business. We processed a refund through the terminal, but the customer did not receive it. The customer eventually recovered their money through their card issuer. Worldpay then took a further £7,000 from our business bank account, despite never having paid us the original funds.
We have repeatedly asked for a clear explanation and the return of our money. Months later, we are still chasing.
As a small business, we depend on cash flow to pay suppliers, meet operating costs and fulfil customer commitments. Taking money in these circumstances, leaving us without a satisfactory explanation and making us repeatedly chase its return feels heavy-handed, intimidating and coercive.
Frankly, it feels like financial strong-arm tactics. That is our experience of Worldpay’s handling of this dispute—a shocking way for a major payment provider to treat a small business.
Worldpay promotes itself as supporting small businesses. Our experience has been financial pressure, wasted time and broken trust.
We want the full £7,000 returned, a confirmed payment date and a clear explanation of what happened to both amounts. Another generic apology will not resolve this.

This company wasted my time and money. Their customer service and sales teams are completely unaligned. I was referred to them but declined their services during the application process. Even after closing my account, they charged me fees for services I never used. To make matters worse, I spent hours on the phone trying to get reimbursed, which only happened after speaking to a manager.

Stuart Dowell was really helpful in getting my issue resolved today despite the many time I had to go back to him for clarifications.
Thank you very much Stuart!

I have had a terminal for some time and had no problems whatsoever. So it’s 5 stars for the terminal and ease of use including transparent billing. However I’m afraid it’s 1 star for technical support. I have battery error which as the machine is hired Worldpay have an obligation to repair or replace. I phoned the magic number and thought it was strange the person on the other end asked for my mobile number ‘in case we get cut off I can call you straight back’ low and behold we did get cut off but I’m still waiting a day later for the call back… so as I say 5 stars for all departments except tech support

My website uses a legacy platform that will be decommissioned next year. The automated phone system at worldpay, like many corporations, makes it insanely difficult to talk to a human. It absolutely demands a numeric account number and my system is identified in Worldpay with an alphanumeric code. I eventually found the right number and options to speak to a rep, Stephanie Bettis. She was very professional, did everything I wanted with patience over a poor phone connection (which isn't Worldpay's fault). That frustration dealt with, I'm happy to use Worldpay's service.

When I was looking for a company to provide a card payment terminal, Worldpay seemed like a good choice. That was in April 2026. Then came the first problem. The terminal arrived with the wrong company name. When I pointed out it wasn't my company's name, they said they could fix it with a single phone call. It didn't take one call; it took five. I had to process four card payments—starting with small amounts, but eventually one for £15. Every time I called, they gave me different phone numbers. After three months without a single card payment going through, I decided to cancel the contract. I paid the monthly fees and returned the terminal. The final email stated that everything was in order and no further action was required on my part. The reality was quite the opposite. From that moment on, I started receiving emails claiming I owed fees for breaching the annual contract—fees that had never been mentioned to me before. I tried to speak to someone about the situation, but there was no communication from Worldpay. Within a week, I received an email from a debt collection agency. I tried contacting Worldpay again, but they told me I had to deal exclusively with the debt collection agency from then on. I asked them to send the documents showing where I had agreed to these fees. A week later, they sent the documents in a ZIP file, but the password was supposed to be in a separate email. Nothing arrived. So, it was back to calling and trying to communicate. And the result? I love my small business, and I don't want to run into trouble. My overall impression? I certainly wouldn't choose this company again in the future. It was a costly lesson that set me back £500 in total. It is a shocking attitude towards a customer for any company. Especially for start-up businesses

Where on earth do I start. I have a small …. VERY SMALL salon business, where i don’t take many card payments, and I also had only just turned 18 so I was learning everything to do with my business still. I was using sum up and happy with it, until I received a call from worldpay. I explained that I only just started my business and wasn’t yet earning much, but they said to me that their card readers would only be £2 a month! With lower fees! So we talked about it and I went for it. My first issue was that they never explained the HIDDEN fees behind that deal. I actually ended up paying £20 a month. Which may not sound like a lot but to me it was when it was £2 at first! Then, a year goes by and i get a call saying that the cost is going to go up to £52 a month…. I asked to cancel it, they were going to charge me £300 PER TERMINAL… (they gave me 2) so I asked if there was a way around it and someone called Gabriella said I can send those two back for free but I had to get a new one for £20 a month. So I thought hey that’s better (still wished I could cancel) but that was the only way to go about it. So anyways they send me another terminal. It was faulty. So they said they’d send another. So at this point I have 3 terminals and 1 on the way. For a small business barely earning any card payments. I rang up making sure the first two were canceled, I spoke to world pay “oh you need to speak to easypay about that” spoke to easy pay “oh you need to speak to world pay about that” it was an absolute rollercoaster and I never knew if they were canceled and how much I’d be having to pay. At this point i was getting really stressed. I cannot tell you the absolute stress I felt having all this as a worry at only 19. Anyways I rang up and THANKFULLY a nice man said I had been really messed about by them (I was in tears on the phone to him) and he agreed to cancel them all for free. Lovely! Sounds simple right? Wrong. Yes he canceled them all for me and I sent them back, however that one terminal that was supposed to be sent came to my door. So I refused delivery as I was told to do. 4 times. 4 TIMES this delivery driver came to the door trying to deliver the terminal. Thankfully I’m fully done with them. I think anyways. They sent me a message asking for £28 in which im obviously not paying. As no.1 I already paid the final fee that was discussed. No.2 IM NOT WITH THEM ANYMORE! And if I keep getting sent invoices I will take this further as these terminals have truly ruined the first year of business I had and caused so much anxiety and worry. USE SUM UP. NEVER USE THESE TERMINALS.

I closed my accounts over a year ago, yet despite calling Worldpay more than a dozen times, they repeatedly failed to close them properly. Apparently, the accounts remained active until January 2026, while Worldpay continued billing me for a service that had been completely disconnected from my website.
Last week, I received yet another bill, this time resulting from fraudulent card-testing activity. The fact that this could happen proves that the account was somehow still live and exposed to abuse. This is not a minor administrative mistake. It is an outrageous and potentially dangerous failure that perfectly demonstrates the staggering incompetence I have experienced from Worldpay across virtually every department.
To make matters worse, I was repeatedly contacted and pressured to pay for compliance services that reputable providers such as Stripe and PayPal include free of charge.
My experience with Worldpay has been absolutely disgraceful. The company has wasted countless hours of my time, continued charging me after I left, failed to secure or properly close my account, and then expected me to pay for services its competitors provide for free. I consider Worldpay greedy, grossly incompetent, and completely untrustworthy. I would strongly advise businesses to stay well away.
