I am so frustrated with this update

I am so frustrated with this update, my problem is during the update, they take out your old ethnicities, and heritages, that I know I have from my family and replace it with something else, instead of adding updates and leaving your heritage along. Also, this is my 3rd update, first and 2nd update were somewhat correct, the third time they fail, I called a few time, got a case number, no results, keep getting the run around, I am so sick of them, need a redo

Power User

I use Ancestry every day. I dont understand why people think they can do a DNA test and all of a sudden have an entire family tree. This takes work. I work on atleast 10 trees and can spend hours linking family members. Rule of thumb is unless you see it 3 places it is not proven. Hire a genealogist if you want to be successful in building a family tree. If you just want ethnicity results and to see who else matches your DNA then just take a test. I have world access and every penny I pay is worth the data I find, especially to help others find biological parents, ancestors and their descendants.

customer service

Yesterday I called twice because my package was returned because of bad address. I called twice to check with two different people to be sure my address was correct this time. I didn’t trust the first girl and the second seemed like he knew what he was doing. I got an email today that stated it was being shipped and guess what, still wrong address. I called back today and they didn’t offer anything to calm my nerves about my two gifts being shipped before Christmas. Not even offering expedited shipping after they screwed up. Hopefully the girl today knew what she was doing and entered my correct shipping address.

Must admit

Must admit, I've not used Ancestry for a few years now, but every now and again I take the plunge into updating my family tree, however I have been extremely disappointed with my current subscription. It seems like Ancestry has gone backwards. Last time I subscribed was around 4 years ago, this gave me access to records that helped immensely in building my tree where it is today, however I've been shocked to learn that my most recent premium purchase, offers little in comparison to past experiences. When I compare my experience to past and recent subscriptions, it's like comparing chalk with cheese. in the past when using Ancestry there was a great deal more access to records, this time around there are limitations which has hampered the progression of my family tree. Such a shame, as I always enjoyed researching through Ancestry, but now I can honestly say I have no intentions of renewing my subscription with Ancestry again.

Ordered this kit a couple of weeks ago and still havent received it. Was sent an email to start the account process ie building a tree. When I started it I found out that everything to do with research was an extra. This was not disclosed anywhere TV, internet adds etc. Phoned up and cancelled hopefully I will get my money back but not holding my breath, maybe a case for the Better Business Bureau.

Hi Johnathan, many thanks for reaching out to share your frustration today.

Our DNA matching service is a wonderful tool that members may use to forge new connections and break down research brickwalls that can otherwise lead a researcher to lose heart.

The reason for this is that it provides results based on the number of centimorgans two people share with each other. A centimorgan is a unit used to judge the probability that a section of DNA will be passed on to a descendant intact (rather than being split into separate segments). Click here to learn more https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Measuring-Relatedness . This all means that long dormant branches of your family tree can be resurrected over night thanks to the science behind this test.

Although a truly ground breaking tool , it can only connect you to other people who have also carried out the same test. Although over 15 million people have so far done so it may not hold a close match for you on day one. The great news is however that the test will continue to update with new matches all the time.

Please note that our test is autosomal and provides results based on both your paternal and maternal line. This means that within the DNA match list provided you will have links to both the maternal and paternal line of the person who participated in the test.

We recognize that it can be an uphill battle to build a family tree and that is why we are ready to help point you in the right direction at anytime. The following guide will help you make the most of your matches https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Making-the-Most-of-AncestryDNA-Matches . We trust this information proves helpful to your research and we wish you every success going forward.
