Merchandise not received after a month of emails and queries and attempts to telephone.
Basically they don't answer the phone and don't respond to emails. I have now requested a refund but doubt I will get it.

I placed an order for a book which showed as 'in stock' on there website. Got an email saying my order was being processed, and now I've just got an email saying they don't have the book and the order is cancelled. I rather suspect a fight on my hands to get my money back - feels like that sort of company.
The book was intended as a present, so thanks Bookbarn for leaving me with that problem.
This business either doesn't know what it's doing or doesn't care about its customers. I certainly will never use a company I can't trust, and I'd rather use a decent business and pay a little more for the peace of mind.
Awful - don't use them

Ordered a book only for them to realise 5 days later that they didn't actually have it. Won't be using them again.

I bought 6 books from this company and all of them were in such fantastic condition. The transaction was smooth and painless, but postage was slow. However, that is down to an external factor and not Bookbarn. Overall, I am exceptionally happy with my purchases and with the organisation. I will certainly be buying from them again!

I placed an order with them, via Amazon marketplace, in early March for a book which was marked as in stock. I was sent an email saying it had shipped but might take a coupe of weeks. I realised on May8th that I hadn't received the book and messaged them via Amazon. The reply was a joke - along the lines of 'we sent the shipping note and them realised we didn't have the book, and then sent you an email telling you that in March, which didn't get to you and we raised a refund but it didn't go through - very sorry and the refund is now being processed.
Now if I hadn't chased them I would not have been refunded - won't use again. Either sloppily run or knowingly not making refunds - neither is a good business model.
The only reason I got the refund at all is because I had bought it through Amazon.

I ordered 3 second hand books from Book Barn and paid by debit card. The charge was processed to my account the next day.
I was sent a mail saying my books have been despatched. It is now 16 days since I ordered the books and I have not received anything.
I tried to call Book Barn. The response is a message that says "you cannot leave a message". That is it.
I have sent 3 or 4 mails asking for an update, and now for a refund. No response.
This is very disappointing but at this stage I feel as if I have been conned.

The choice of books and the pricing was good, and I was able to source a book that I couldn't find elsewhere. BUT why would it take eight days from the order acknowledgment to them putting the parcel in the post?
There are many similar firms out there, and this type of delayed service wouldn't encourage me to order through them again.

I dealt with them online. Not only did Bookbarn have an old book I had been searching for at a reasonable price for years, but their description was very careful and accurate. The price including p&p was more than fair. It arrived in good order, well packed, and in good time. A real pleasure to do business with.

I found the book through Abebooks.co.uk but I had a query about its content and edition. I received a very prompt and comprehensive reply. The book arrived quickly and in the conditions as decribed on the website. I will certainly use them again.

I keep hearing rave reviews about the service this company give. Mostly about the millions of books on sale for just £1. Wow! That's easy isn't it, when all these books are virtually donated! You can't browse the books of "interest or value" You are directed to go on line.
I left an enormous number of books, I could never find them on line, I never really knew what was sold and what wasn't and then the contract expired and the books are theirs. Yes I was told the rules when I left them but I did, at least; think I'd be able to "track n trace" through my contract number and the impression given to me was that the system works and books really do sell!
