Could have been a great experience but …
Could have been a great experience but was ruined but by the nasty boots.
I spent almost 15 minuets trying to get the boots on and the lady sitting next to me forming the same opinion and voicing my every thought - the boots are extremely cheap, awkward, uncomfortable and difficult to get on (I've had my fair share of boot rentals at other rinks), the lining is also extremely thin. Initially I couldn't get them on at all as the lining was doubled up and one of the boots already had a second lining (I guess I'm no to first to have issues), but after some experimentation and several attempts at removing the linings, putting them on first and then abandoning that approach and refitting the linings - also easier said than done, I'd made the best I could of a bad situation.
Finally, wearing the boots with the thin linings and bits of plastic sticking in your foot of course translates to a awful experience on the ice which quickly came down to single circuits before having to stop and let my feet recover and a couple of minor wounds to go home with.
On returning the boots there didn't seem to be any hygiene products used, I'm not sure how effective they are but thought it also worth mentioning.
So an fix really but right now I'd stay well away, I'll be taking a close look at the boots before I take my daughter there again.
