Belated Follow Up From Complaining About Met Plus Telecom
Hello, had to repost the entry below, which was from January 2021 (system would not let me date it back further), to warn others about Met Plus Telecom, especially vulnerable, elderly customers. The Trustpilot edit team, presume at Met Technologies had craftily moved it right to the end of page 5 of this review, where it could not be easily seen, and was hidden. If you read the content, you will see why. Decided to move it back.
Just to update from the previous entry, after hundreds/thousands of concerned UK consumers contacted Ofcom in 2019/20, re Met Plus Telecom' slamming, mis-selling, and reported mis-treatment of particularly elderly and vulnerable UK based individuals, OFCOM fined Met Technologies and Guaranteed Telecom a total of £35,000, for those breaches/damage, in late 2021. Kunal Gupta, the owner of both, then dissolved the UK company registration of both, last year. Met Technologies' UK Companies House registration was wound up and liquidated on 21 April 2022. From others comments and interpretation, the Met Plus Telecom Indian based call-centre appears to be one of several operating from the Met Technologies premises in Eco-Space, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
The interesting thing about Met Technologies is it came to notice again online, in May 2022, when various anti-scammers exposed non-legitimate activity going on in secret, fake call-centres, behind the scenes, in a couple of organisations in Kolkata, India. That is the concerted, collaborative efforts of IT anti-scam security professionals on You Tube and other mainstream online platforms, to expose the level of illegal activity at three or four orgs including Met Technologies, in Eco-Space, Kolkata, West Bengal - their fake call centre backroom operations. Behind the very shallow legitimate front - they found the fake back room call centre operations, which were impersonating Amazon, Microsoft tech support, the US Internal Revenue Service and other companies - refund scams/threats for money owed to IRS etc - usual ones that scammers impersonate, to take money illegally with misrepresentation/fraud/exploitation/extortion/threats etc), from vulnerable, mostly elderly, or ill/scared, western consumers. Most were robbed of large sums of money, in a few cases some individuals were wiped out of their life savings. There was an expose on YouTube, from the good folks, combination of Trilogy Media, Jim Browning, Mark Rober, and others. Can guarantee that it is pretty revealing and satisfying watch on YouTube - search for "GLITTERBOMBING a Scam Call Centre/w Mark Rober". Their joint work and online output is superb - thinking especially of Jim Browning and also Mark Rober, who showcases science, especially engineering, on You-Tube. In the case of the May 22 video, they set up a sting op, worthy of a spy film or novel. Most of the team basically travelled to India, got brave local souls inside the fake call centres, got internal CCTV footage, recorded evidence of the offences being committed, to give to Indian authorities, and sent Mark Rober's ingenious engineered devices into said, fake-call centres, as a sign the scam activity had been noted, pranking those responsible, and publicising it to the world. These either released large amounts of glitter (around a metric pound for each), or rodents/ cockroaches/ fart spray amongst other things, and had recording equipment to capture the individuals involved in the fraud activity. The fake-call centres were only shut for a short while, but this has publicised this growing industry.
Good Service
Very polite and helpful customer service, they cleared all my doubts.

Met plus telecom is a pile of garbage do not go with this for your broadband go with somthing better.
Getting my fathers internet back on
My father has dementia, and his internet went off for a few months. I called customer service to ask for help and they were very determined to get me help even though the local line engineers did not fix it the first few times. Now my father can use his new komp device which needs the internet for it to be able to work. This has brought him and the family and friends a great deal of happiness as we can all send him photos, messages and video call him and he doesnt need any skills or to use any passwords at all. He can just sit and have a good chat with the person calling him. He has now lost the ability to use his phone to make a call, though he can answer them, so this is really important for his isolation during the pandemic. His sister video called on her birthday. They havent see each other for years, and she opened all her presents and blew out the candles on her cake with him there. This is a precious memory for them to share. Also, as his carer, I can send him messages to remind him about things which is very helpful to me. None of this would be possible if the internet had not been repaired, so thank you very much for all your help.
ALLS WELL THAT ENDS WELL
At first l had a few problems when l changed over to Metplus from BT but eventually with numerous lengthy phone calls back and forward it was soon rectified. Since that experience all the staff have been extremely polite, respectful and patient. So l would recommend your business to others in future if asked.
Sincerely, Carolyn Paterson
Helping our Elderly Relative…
Had to intervene when our elderly relative was affected by Met Plus Telecom, potentially slamming and other issues, as mentioned here, and elsewhere online - see below. Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) Trading Standards had already come across Met Technologies, trading as Met Plus Telecom and sister company, Guaranteed Telecom, trading as Zoom Telecom, after receiving complaints but they could only act on complaints directed to them. They revealed in early 2020, via their website, the actions they had taken - they had investigated or become aware of several hundred complaints re: the above, and in total nearly 13,000 individuals in the UK may have been potentially impacted. Also reported in local media by RBWM, to raise awareness of the issues.
Note from Ofcom's website that they have also been investigating the above companies. The investigation started from 20 November 2019 and looked back as well as addressing the more recent situation re: alleged slamming activity (mis-selling). Details, including how to contact them are available on their website.
From our experience our elderly relative suffered damage and distress from Met Plus' actions, poor treatment and not apparently meeting the right standards. Those responsible refused to apologise genuinely or put the situation right to make proper redress and improperly tried to charge additionally, when this was not due. They seemed to try to harass and pressure us and our relative.
Have concerns about the potential numbers of vulnerable, often elderly and unwell consumers having been impacted so negatively re: this matter - some really distressing stories.
Although the above companies moved their UK registration address from Maidenhead, to a Brent address in London during 2019, RBWM Trading Standards still appeared to lead on the case, and continued to monitor the situation. They are to be commended for their hard work and efforts to help those affected.
Note from the online official input, referred to above, it was concluded that the companies and call-centre operations looked to be run from, and located overseas, rather than from the UK. Online research suggested from West Bengal, India. VoIP use meant their calls can appear as UK or withheld numbers, but essentially coming from overseas. .
From our own experiences, the following may be worth considering:
With suspected slamming activity, where a CSP have taken a number improperly and are refusing to release it or blocking a switch to another communications provider against code, use the relevant method to get the UK Telecoms regulatory system to make them release the consumer, or block them from improperly taking it again. This allows the affected customer to move, as per their consumer rights (and take/port their number). There is advice on the OFCOM website on how to do this, including how to complain.
From general experience of direct debit - under the UK Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme, with payments that look to be set up improperly, without clear or agreed consent/authority or taken non-compliantly or in error, customer can cancel the debit with bank/building society, but also request a refund (known as an "indemnity claim") for any payment, and provided their bank or building society agrees with the validity of their indemnity claim, the customer will receive an immediate refund.
If you have reached deadlock after around 8 weeks of first complaining to the CSP, try resolving under Alternative Resolution Scheme (ADR), including if you have concerns that vulnerable consumers are potentially at risk. All CSPs operating in UK markets have to be a member of an ADR scheme under the rules - coming under either the Telecom Ombudsman or CISAS. Ofcom's website provides a list of participating ADR members.

Fraudsters and scammers who pray on the elderly They have been taking £180 pounds a year off my father to block unwanted sales phone calls ,which he still gets and can block with the touch of a button on his bt phone. I just wish I'd found out earlier, god knows how many years he's been paying this.
Professional fraudsters-
Professional fraudsters- somehow trying to scare my Mum of of £51.25 for 2 weeks of providing something she didn't need or want or ever receive
The worst telecom supplier
I signed up to Met Plus Telecom in December 17,following a cold call that promised me 'massive savings' for two long years.
The reality was two years of pure hell,I had to argue about almost every bill, they over-charged,charged for services that were not in my contract, charged for calls that I did not make.I had to cancel my DD payment to stop them taking more money from my account than they were entitled to,their response was to set up a fresh DD without my authority and to steal money from my bank account.
They are still contacting me claiming that I owe them £29.22!
After all the heartache and problems with them they can go do one!
Even the broadband router that they sold me was faulty, but they refused to replace it,claiming that it was 'normal' to have to re-boot the thing 3 or 4 times a day.
By contrast,my current supplier has given no problems at all, bills are correct and a little cheaper than Met Plus Telecom.
Scam
If you have an elderly parent that has been conned like most have, do not pay their absurd fees and requests. Go directly to Ofcom, from there they will discuss the next procedure the final part is approaching CEDR they will sort your dispute out luckily we have a solicitor in the family. If like most they have commandeered your phone line by your current operator then you will have to follow the disputes process. Do not pay them anything! In addition, go to your bank and request a direct debit return of funds. They will agree that this is not a legitimate company but a scam.

my 80 yr old mum was swapped from bt over the phone thinking it was telecom under a new name .. cant get out of contract now -99 stars poor service
Don’t sign up to Met Plus.
My mother age 87 was cold called by Met Plus and talked into changing over to Met Plus to save a couple of pounds a month,
Due to a lost check, Met Plus disconnected the line,
My mother has been with BT for 70 years without any problems.
My mother has a lifeline alarm and needs her phone line,
Met Plus wanted £60 disconnection fee and £60 reconnection fee.
My mother had been with Met Plus for 4 weeks.
After 4 weeks there is a £300. Contract cancellation fee with in a 2 year period,
Now we have completed the 2 years, my mother is now in a home,
We now want to cancel the contract with Met Plus, they are claiming we owe £300
Scammers
This company took over my 90 year old uncle's phone without his knowledge. He was never contacted by them and does not have internet connection. The first he knew about it was when he received a letter from BT informing him that his services were ending. He has been with BT all his life and would never leave them. I am unable to contact the company as the advertised phone number just rings and rings, tried for one hour yesterday, and emails are not replied to. I strongly suspect that this is not a one off and after speaking to Ofcom about the matter it seems that nothing can be done to stop this behaviour. I only gave the company one star as zero was not possible. Definite scammers- prove me wrong Metplus com!

Avoid this company please
This is rediculars my contract end on the 22/09/19 still they are holding my line they don’t want to release it for other provider to take over. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
If I could give them less than one star…
If I could give them less than one star I would. I am furious with the way they have conned my mother into moving to them and she regrets it too. Every time I speak to her she is having connection issues that she did not have before switching, this should not happen. Cmon OfCom, sort these people out!
These fraudsters have stolen my line…
These fraudsters have stolen my line from BT (BT did not stop the request properly after Met Telecom had already tried 5 times & had been successfully blocked) This has caused us no end of problems. They ring pretending to be BT then when you suss out they are not who they say & tell them you are not interested they steal your line anyway. I entered into no agreement whatsoever yet they still have the audacity to do this. Do not have anything to do with these people. A complete and utter bunch of shysters. Still absolutely furious as BT are having problems trying to reconnect us & as I have my 93 year old nan at home this is causing issues as I may have to change my number & with a huge team of health related care workers this is unworkable. FUMING

I am horrified after reading previous reviews that this company is still operating. Met Technologies recently rang my 85 year old mother (apparently, as she has no recollection) and cancelled her contract with BT. Thankfully BT wrote to say 'sorry you are leaving us'. We reinstated the BT contract and are now waiting for fallout from Met Technologies. I sincerely hope she has not given any bank details to this company and will have to monitor her account. This has made me so angry!

TOTAL SCAM!!!
TOTAL SCAM!!!
Supposedly got my mum to agree to moving to Met Plus even though we haven't seen or heard any proof.
We told them that we wanted to cancel but apparently was out of our cooling off period so there was a £350 cancellation fee.
We sent the router back to the address they told us recorded delivery which was signed for but they say the didn't receive it....Yeah right!!!
3 months later and they are still chasing for payment and refuse to come to a compromise.
I have told them we will see them in court because they refuse to agree to allow us to cancel, and the money they want keeps going up.
I rang them to try and resolve the situation again this month and was on my mobile phone for 30 minutes which I got a bill of £15 for..
As I said before TOTAL SCAM!!!
slippery as they come
they rang my partner and she agreed to switch to them ,BT. then offered a better deal so met plus were informed that she no longer wished to swap BT. has also confirm that they also told Met plus she was staying with them, so it was as surprise when we found the line was down , I rang BT.to report the fault , after sometime they discovered Met Plus had taken over the line, even though they had not sent out a router or even set up a direct debit as was advised they would do before commencing with taking over the line,
They refused to give BT.back the line and sent out the router a week later, now thy keep demanding money to give the line back
