Inferior laundry center condition

Because we live out of town and do not frequent Des Moines often to shop options, we hastily purchased a used and fairly dated stacked washer dryer unit that had just come into the shop and had yet to be maintenanced for the sales floor. Our primary focus was set on the washer having the desired features without paying much attention to the dryer. Big mistake. We were told the unit would be checked over, needed repairs made and were assured it would be thoroughly cleaned. Arrangements for pick up were made when told it was ready with its final state sight unseen, which we now realize was another big mistake. Despite the growing prevalence of scammers, I still put faith in humanity however this deal proved otherwise. I’ve had this unit a week and have yet to run it to see how it even works. Instead much time and energy has been spent taking it apart and cleaning it. There is no way any effort was made to clean this machine. Guess they figured it wasn’t necessary - we were stupid enough to buy it based on trust - it’s our own fault. The outside of the washer tub was caked with nasty gunk. The fins had to be removed from the drum to clean out extensive gunk that clogged the undersides. The wiring components and inside mechanisms were coated in dirt and lint. The dryer drum and its fins are stained blue that cannot be cleaned and the enamel is gouged and scratched and rusted. How in good conscience they can sell this unit in the condition it’s in is just appalling - certainly not worth the $750 asking price. There will be further expense with the labor intensive task of painting the drum. A similar unit in much better condition could be bought on Marketplace for way less. This is supposed to be a reputable business. Well heed warning buyers - be sure to inspect any purchase of used appliances from this dealer. Unfortunately our slack allowed due diligence to be neglected. I will never recommend this business to anyone.
