Truly excellent customer service and high quality specs. All of the staff are friendly and polite. Not cheap but worth every penny. Highly recommended.
I will not repeat the previous review dated 19/12/2019, however I endorse the comments.
After years of spending all my glasses related costs at Robin James, (RJ), I had my driving bifocals and reading glasses lenses, to a RJ prescription, replaced by a cheaper source, saving £175, (£280 versus £105).
There was a significant change to my left eye prescription resulting in an issue with the new lenses. By observation the issue(s) was deemed to be due to the revised left eye prescription. I had the optical properties of the new lenses checked for conformance to the new prescription.
I requested a re-test at RJ, but since I had not purchased the replaced lenses from RJ, (at £280), they were not interested and refused my re-test request.
Hence, in my view, very poor professional and customer service and very expensive.
Small independent companies need to provide superior personal customer service if they are to compete with the larger national firms.
Robin James fails spectacularly to do that. The reception staff are disinterested and lazy, whilst Mr James, the optician, is disengaged and refuses to come out of his examination room, or to talk to clients.
Prices are significantly higher than the national chains and there is no reason other than local convenience to patronise this company.
If you want an example of a local, independent optician with excellent customer focus, you should try Leightons Opticians in Reading.
Give Robin James a miss - not worth his prices or customer service.
