I spoke with an agent to get new auto and home insurance Friday afternoon. The agent was amazing. The problem is State Farm's customer service. It is just endless IVR loops and AI garbage. The age... See more

Very frustrating that you pay your home…
Very frustrating that you pay your home owners insurance for close to 30 years and have one incident, a claim filed for hail damages (two documented storms in 9 months) that was confirmed by 4 separate contractors but denied by State Farm basically because they get to call it wear and tear on an older roof. This is in addition to high car insurance rates that keeps increasing and when compared to competitors is literally 4 times higher. I question seriously what I’m getting for my money with this State Farm it’s time to research a new insurance company.
State Farm auto claims is a complete mess
State Farm auto claims is a complete disaster. They take a week to assess claims and say the supplement process takes 3-5 days to process as well. My guess is they are trying to AI the process and failing. They probably don't many actual adjusters left.
The selling agents are helpful but have had many of their abilities taken away such as the ablility to start claims for clients.
They are no longer the helpful company they used to be.
Jake from State Farm has left the building.

I have serious concerns about how my…
I have serious concerns about how my auto claim has been handled following an accident in which I was rear-ended by your insured. The circumstances raise issues related to claim handling practices, transparency, and the use of my personal information.
The damage to my vehicle is minor and limited to the rear bumper. Despite this, I was informed that my vehicle might be declared a total loss. I clearly stated that I do not consent to such a determination without a proper evaluation and was assured the claim would be reviewed before any final decision.
However, events suggest a premature determination. On April 16, 2026, I began receiving unsolicited calls, texts, and emails from a rental car company, including attempts to sell me a replacement vehicle. I did not authorize this contact.
When I spoke with a representative to learn how my information was obtained, I was told my vehicle had already been marked as a total loss in your system. This appears to have occurred before any finalized decision or agreement on my part, and without my consent to share my information. Its use for unsolicited sales outreach is particularly concerning.
Additionally, my husband spoke twice with one of your representatives that day and was told the claim could be processed as a total loss regardless of my position. He was also told I could be financially responsible for an estimate and rental if I did not agree. These statements conflict with prior information and raise concerns about coercive communication.
I also requested to be contacted by a manager to address these concerns directly, but to date, I have received no communication or follow-up regarding that request. This lack of responsiveness further contributes to my concern about how this claim is being handled.
I requested justification for the total loss determination and was given a value range for my vehicle, which I independently verified. Based on that valuation and common thresholds in Maryland, a total loss would require repair costs far higher than my current estimate. My estimate is well below that level, yet I have received no clear or documented explanation supporting a total loss designation.
EMBARRASSINGLY, we have been with State Farm 40 years….
Embarrassingly we have been with State Farm for over 40 years. Made only one claim, paid on time with every single premium bill we received. I wish we would’ve canceled back in the 90s when they went wonky. Terrible customer service - they don’t want to repair anything and blame you for it and threaten to not renew you. And they aren’t even nice about it. They practically accused me of lying about the age and quality of my roof because they had lost THEIR documentation. Fortunately, the warranty and claim info was found, and I was absolutely spot on about the age and the 30 year timberline quality. But to save face they are trying to say I have granular loss now…. even though that was what they said when they erroneously thought my roof was from 1997 because of their poor recordkeeping. After a hurricane they only wanted to patch my roof (this is not even legal in my state). I had to get a lawyer to get an entire new roof that was mandated not only by the state laws but by their own policy which I paid good money for! Fast forward to now, and they are still being very UNNEIGHBORLY! They need to change their slogan!
When I called main number today, the guy that answered was listening to loud music and i could tell he was at home. He was trying to say we had a bad connection so I had to tell him to turn off the music and put me on voice isolation. Ugh, super unprofessional!
I wish I had read the writing on the wall back about 20 years ago when they would not let people print their own car insurance proof certificate. They made you come in the office to pick a new one up if it got lost in the mail. Other (better) insurance companies were letting you print your own. So looking back, it just shows their level of ridiculous control and condescension!
To be honest, I think the second worst insurance company in the country would be better TEN times than State Farm! I am leaving in May on my renewal date.
I love insurance companies they…
I love insurance companies they advertise that they are the good neighbor people but then they do everything they can to make your life a living hell. Yet the government says we have to have insurance.
Id give them 0 stars if I could
Id give them 0 stars if I could. Bradley Cooper is just as bad as State farm itself. I went 3 months without a horse trailer insured without ANY acknowledgment, Was even paying for it. Was supposed to get the money back, NEVER saw the check. Then when I need to file a claim, it was a complete and utter mess. I was lied to, manipulated, the vehicle was pretty much stolen and put on a lot for sale before we even settled, I don't know the reason behind that, but HOW SHADY? Consumer be aware of Bradley Copper, but STATE FARM as a entirty.
They are always in a mood to help
They are always in a mood to help, they always have an answer to my question, and there very efficient. I am very pleased with my auto coverage. I recommend them to anyone looking for low rates.
Give me your money, I'll give ya nothing back
Good insurance company, I got multiple cars through them now ...house insurance now .....BUT do not make a claim to them and it's a flat no BASED on someone opinion...my egress windows broke under all the rain water we been having and flooded my basement and they say nope can't pay the pros to come out and suck the basement dry, now I'm stuck with the drying out bill....I spent thousands of dollars insurancing my cars, property and get no help from state farm at all, NO SERVICES RENDERED BY INSURANCE.. Look at other reviews and see if this is a accruing problem with STATE FARM
I thought Statefarm was a reputable…
I thought Statefarm was a reputable company and great insurance to have but from experience, I see they have declined. After years of being with Statefarm, I was told they would not renew my insurance because I used Roadside Assistance “4 times.” Mind you, this was for two different vehicles and were minor claims for a battery jump, safety lockout from vehicle feature and 1 tow. It seems as if they are in the business of collecting money. I have paid over $10,000 in premiums but because I used the roadside assistance 4 times, it’s too much of a risk? Why offer the service if you don’t want it to be used.
Communication is non-existent
Communication is non-existent. In September of '25, I received my billing statement that said my auto-pay for my renter's insurance would be made on October 3rd. No biggie, right? Wrong. It wasn't until March 31st (when my entire apartment was under 3 inches of water) that I went to file a claim and learned that my policy was no longer active? No communication that it was being cancelled, or that the payment had been missed (if that was the case, I still don't know). I quickly reupped the policy and online it stated "Records show you were not covered the day of your incident. No worries though, your agent should still be able to help you!" Filed a claim and now the adjuster wants to accuse me of fraud? Tells me that he simply doesn't believe the story that I am telling, yet I can clearly show that I was given no other communication aside from the September message about my payment being processed on the October date. As soon as this is over I will be canceling my policy and going elsewhere.
I would give them a zero
I would give them a zero. We filed a claim had to fight with them to get approval then took 8 months for repair on basement. Then they turn around and drop my home owner policy. So I drop all my insurance with them . They can kma went with all state and got better and cheaper policy don't get involved with them there thieves
dreadful adjuster experience
It took 13 days for them to contact me after having an accident with one of their insureds at fault. And I only spoke with them then because I looked up all the information and called them. Then they tell me that I've got 1 day to get my vehicle released from a tow yard because they only pay storage fees for 14 days. Really!?!?!?! The adjuster was rude and very unpleasant to work with. She would ask questions and then keep talking so that you couldn't answer the questions. I finally had to yell into the phone to get her to stop talking so I could answer her question and then she had the gall to tell me that she was going to hang up on me if I yelled at her. And I didn't yell any profanity. I just spoke loudly that I wanted to answer her question to me. She made statements to me about the claim and then just waited in silence assuming that I knew she wanted some response from me. Like: Ok I have you as _____. I'm sitting there in silence and finally she says, is that correct? Then she goes on to tell me that they won't pay for my granddaughter's medical bills even though my insurance company already told me that they are the insurer that pays the medical bills out of my PIP coverage. As she's droning on about all of this medical information I'm trying to tell her again that I know all of that and she just wouldn't stop talking. Overall it was a terrible experience and I'll fill in how it comes out with their ability to pay for my damages.

this company had become a scam i have been a customer for over 30 years and i had hail damage my first claim ever and wont cover it
Lack of Respect for Customers
I have been with State Farm for 15 years and have no absolutely no complaints about the agencies that serviced me through those years. In fact, they were/are all wonderful. My complaint is with the corporate office and their lack of respect for their customers. It may sound ridiculous, but why can't they spend a few cents, not dollars, to send out renewal cards instead of forcing their customers to print them? They used to send plastic cards, then the cards were sturdy cardstock, then they degraded the "cards" to paper. Now you have to print the cards yourself. Based on other reviews here about claims and such, this is minor. But maybe it's not. Maybe it's more about respect and customer service, which is definitely lacking from State Farm.
Michael Church Michigan
Michael Church Michigan. Garbage agent. Couldn't even explain how i don't meet the requirements of insurance. Was going to move my insurance from Farmers Insurance and add 2 or 3 more vehicles. This guy is a waste of time. Save yourself the trouble and find a real agent that works with you.
Useless
They would refuse to do their job, instead making me chase down other insurance companies, chase down police reports, and even once somehow prove to them my license wasn't suspended (I haven't had a ticket in 30 years!). Then, after I do all the work, they would call me to take credit and brag about everything they do for me. A waste of money. You'll end up paying and doing more than if you had no insurance.
State Farm has neglected to respond to…
State Farm has neglected to respond to my insurance agency for claim recovery from an incident that happen back in November 2025. I was driving for Lyft who insurance is State Farm when an arm length size semi tire hit the front of my vehicle while transporting a passenger. The tire tore the front end and front under body of my vehicle causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. I immediately reported this to my personal insurance who immediately responded and set things in place to have my car repaired. My insurance company reached out to State Farm who stated that I was not on the clock at the time of the accident when I was. I contacted Lyft to put in the claim with them. I have waited and waited for the claim to be settled and as of today it has not. State Farm has given me the run around and stated false statements when spoken to in reference to the claim. It seems that they are trying to find something so they can deny responsibility. They are very unprofessional and I would recommend that you not look their way for insurance… you will be very unhappy…
In my opinion state farm are thieves
In my opinion state farm are thieves. I had bumper damage and fender damage to my Honda and they totaled it so i asked for my car back. I had to fight to get my car returned. I was told they would auction the car off. When i got my car back and repaired it they sent the title but held back the bill of sale. In my opinion they did this to be nasty because they handle claims like they every day so they knew the bill of sale was supposed to be with the title. Then they said they can’t email anything, maybe they will mail it to me in a week.😡 meanwhile we’re at the inspection office and have to leave. I haveservice with Geico
Do NOT use State Farm!
Only want to pay a 1/3 of what the repair costs because they want to use aftermket cheaper parts. I pay PREMIUMS not basics. I want the premium part put on there not basic parts. Also been on hold for over an hour with no answer... Very professional.
