I had 3 domains by strato.de. The customer service was so bad I cant even find a civil term to describe it. Just one example - I had renewal problems with a site and was speaking with customer service (which they charge per minute to use) and I also wanted to change my package with the renewal. The "lol customer service" was rude and treated me very badly. I said "if this is your best service I can simply cancel all 3 domains and go somewhere else" He said "yes, you can. Do what you want". I then contacted another agent, who was quite friendly and apologized. I said, "OK, since you are willing to help, I will give it another shot". Then my renewal request was not met, the new package not done as promised, and I contacted support and was told in 2 years I can renew again and get what I wanted. I again said, I will just go somewhere else, and was basically told to do just that and he pretty much hung up on me. I now have been at another provider with all my sites and have had nothing but great service and friendly help every time there was any issue or I had any questions.
I have been gone from starto.de for over a year now but was with them since shortly after they launched. At that time, it was the easiest to get in Germany, but this was before the internet was like it is now. I was appalled at the unfriendly service for such a long-time loyal customer. I stumbled across this review site, as I just got an email from strato. It may be a scam but this is what I got and the address it came from (see bottom). Dear strato.de Please feel free to chime in if this email is legit, and if it is, shame on you!!!! My email and domain have been transferred over a year ago.

Oh dear, where do I start?
Round and round you go trying to cancel a contract. Once you get to cancel your domain you click to access the authcode and it boots you out of the site.
If that isn't bad enough, you are no longer able to get access your account to contact them for the authcode...
No telephone contact permitted via customer service...
Contacting via message on the website takes you around again!!!

Very bad account management tool. I have ordered a domain once and after almost 4 years I still need to pay or cancel some packets, since it is not clear which products are still active in my account.
I have a very long experience with domains and hosting packets but never had such a bad experience with any another provider.
