I joined Trusted House Sitters a few weeks before we went in to the first lockdown. It seemed a lovely community - but sadly it would seem the company is NOT of that same spirit.
When I asked if they could offer me a refund or freeze the account as it was clearly a service I couldn't use - it was just a flat 'No, not really. We can offer you two extra months' (which takes me up to about when lockdown 2.0 is over - yeaaaa.. thanks). I asked politely again if there was an alternative - as I thought to pretty unethical to just take the money - but again 'No, as we said before.' 'Read the Ts & Cs' and 'wish you all the best in your future endeavours' - basically don't bother us again. Fair enough, I won't.
I have to say I normally only use my time and energy to shout out about the great things companies are doing.
Other communities and companies have been awesome and practical and gone above and beyond during lockdown - gyms, food suppliers, local shops, travel agencies w cancelled trips, folks really looking out for one another etc.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Trusted House Sitters.
