The worst of corporate greed and irresponsibility
I stored three boxes and a suitcase with Lovespace over the summer of 2020. I saw their ads when I was in student halls and decided I would rather pay than go through the trouble of asking for favours from friends and transporting my heavy belongings myself. I trusted in Lovespace because of their professional image - I was wrong to.
I discovered upon my return to the UK that my boxes had been broken into while I was gone. I was missing three designer handbags, worth over £3000 together. Nothing else was missing.
There were large rips on my boxes: one from the top to three-quarters of the way down on one side, which had been re-taped. There were also smaller holes seemingly pierced with a sharp object.
Lovespace seems to hire independent contractors in those white vans. The man who picked up my boxes was not an employee of Lovespace. He was not monitored or held accountable.
Although I have made a report to the police, I doubt I will ever recover my belongings. When I contacted customer service, they did not help at all. I sent them photos of the boxes and receipts for my items. They do not care about their service to their customers, only about their legal obligations. The customer operations manager offered to give me £20 "as a sign of good will," which was insulting to me.
I hope no one else will use this company because firstly, they cannot be trusted from top to bottom, and second, they are owned by a huge legal firm that gives them complete power over any customer. If something goes wrong, you will be powerless. Good luck trying to sue them. This was a horrible and scarring ordeal I went through in the middle of the pandemic moving between countries. For your peace of mind, stay far far away! Let this company go bankrupt and worse.
We're so sorry to hear that some of your items are missing.
Looking after people’s stuff is important to us, so we take care to keep all items safe and secure from the minute they’re collected to the minute they’re delivered, including working closely with our drivers to ensure all items are accounted for. We even offer free coverage of up to £100 per box so, in the rare event that something is damaged or missing, and it’s our fault, we can compensate for it.
We do ask you to store your stuff in good quality cardboard boxes to help us keep it safe, and ask for some evidence of what you’re claiming so we can ensure it is reasonable and that we approach the claim fairly. Unfortunately, this was not the case in this instance, which is why we could not offer you the full amount that you requested.
Just to clear everything up, LOVESPACE isn't owned by a legal firm and in the rare occasion that something doesn't go to plan whilst using our service, we are happy to help in any way we can in line with our T&Cs.
Best wishes,
The LOVESPACE Team
