John Grose at Ipswich serviced my DS3…

John Grose at Ipswich serviced my DS3 car in preparation for a MOT. The service engineer reported that a disc brake required replacing. I was given a cost. As John Grose is usually more expensive than other garages I took the car to KwikFit and Halfords. Both KwikFit and Halfords found that two brake discs+pads had eroded below the legal minimum. KwikFit and Halfords BOTH concluded that John Grose had missed the second disc+pads through a negligent inspection. I called John Grose at Ipswich and was told by the woman in the service department that I would receive a call from the service manager. That never happened. The brakes were replaced by KwikFit. I would never take my car again to John Grose because I would be fearful legal requirement for safe driving could be missed leading to an accident, possibly a fatal accident. Be warned.

Good

Overall good, but not superb because courier timescale is for an all day rather than a time window delivery.

Review of Plusnet
1 star: Bad

Plusnet - simply useless

OFCOM is failing to force Plusnet to deliver a transparent, decent customer service. I complained caller display wasn't working....So Plusnet sent me an email to confirm it had stopped caller display. The complete opposite of what I wanted. When I then complained a pompous customer service twit said I should have known that I would get an email stating caller display would be disconnected before it could be re-connected. Arrogant, useless customer service.
It also transpired that no notes had been made by Plusnet from the first call....presumably to keep down the traceable level of faults.
Come on OFCOM - SORT OUT THIS AWFUL SUBSIDIARY OF BT.

Order placed 7 February....still no delivery on 15 March

Order placed 7 February. As of 15 March 2019 order not fulfilled.

Homecrafts regularly sends out emails to us encouraging us to log on to our account for an update on delivery. When we log on there is no information.

Terrible customer services then make this worse by stating in writing it takes up to 10 working days - that is up to 14 days in reality - to respond to any COMPLAINT made by email. Don't bother trying to ring....they NEVER answer.

Companies operating like this deserve to go under.

Awful

Awful. Sent wrong product. Then could not organise courier to pick up the wrong product. Bathrooms.com kept sending emails saying courier was coming on a series of days and times, making us wait in, but no-one ever turned up.

XDP - do not use: awful service

Terrible service. XDP didn't bother to turn up to collect the parcel.

XDP didn't bother to make any contact to explain why they had failed to fullfill its contractual obligations.

Taking this awful company to the
Small Claims Court. Will update after the court judgement.

AVOID: Dreadful service from Bathrooms.com

Dreadful service. Toilet seat number 3 broke. Ordered a fourth (we are an elderly couple household, not overweight - product awful).

Bathrooms.com sent the wrong product. Customer services argued it was correct, so we sent photos of what they sent against what we had from them previously. Finally they accepted they were wrong. Offered a refund on the proviso we sent the toilet seat back. Bathrooms.com told us a firm called XDP Ltd would collect the toilet seat from our house and then we would get a refund.

Guess what - no XDP collection happened.

Awful service from Bathrooms.com, part of the controversial Travis Perkins group.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

I am very sorry that you feel our customer service has not been up to standard.

After looking into the correspondence between yourself and our customer service team, I can see that the issues encountered were due to changes with a manufacturer which resulted in a slight change in the product specification.

My team refunded the incorrect product replacement straight away due to the inconvenience caused.

In regards to the collection, we can only apologise for the issues you have faced at the hands of our couriers. We have been in contact with them regarding this and we will email you directly with an update.

Again, please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,
Ella @ Bathrooms.com

No delivery of goods

This company took £160.01 for goods ordered but never delivered them. The company, through its operating arm FashionJuice BV, ignored emails for TWO WEEKS.

Threatened with legal action the company responded and promised in writing to send the goods through a new courier with tracking. Guess what ! The courier company then reported it had received no goods from Muchachomalo. So no goods sent. .

Complaint lodged with Amsterdam police.

I would urge British buyers to avoid buying direct from this Amsterdam-based company.

I'll have a look right away to settle this.

Review of Octopus Energy

Octopus Energy sends out misleading bills

Octopus Energy sent me a bill stating the bill was based on meter readings.

Octopus Energy was lying. The bill had been prepared from estimated bills only as no meter readings had been submitted.

When challenged on the inaccuracy of the bill, Octopus responded by saying the issue would be brought to the attention of its web designers.

Octopus declined to admit the wording was misleading. Therefore the COMPLAINT has been referred to the Energy Ombudsmen with a request Octopus be fined for misrepresentation and be forced to make billing accurate and, therefore, to stop misleading its customers.

Reply from Octopus Energy
Hi Elizabeth,

I see you've been chatting with members of our team about this and have opted to go to the Energy Ombudsman with the issue you've raised. I'm sorry if the wording on the email we send with your bill was a little unclear.

Your statement is very clear about the fact the meter readings used to bill your account were estimated, rather than being ones you'd given us, but I appreciate that this wording could be clearer on the email itself.

The team who write our emails and bills have been told about this issue and are looking at how to reword it for clarity. Do let us know if there's anything else we can do in the meantime.

Best wishes,

Very poor service - there's plenty of other solicitors in Bury St Edmunds.

We used Gross & Co and found them to be really poor. The solicitor - failed time and time again to respond to urgent communications and the output had to be questioned, which you do not expect to have to do with a legal professional. The quality of the firm's rather shabby offices reflects the service level.

TopCashBack fails to honour the…

TopCashBack fails to honour the commitments for payout. I had three payouts from Hotels.Com which did not get paid almost 12 months after booking - the hotels were booked in December, used in the following May but by November still not payout. TopCashBack said there was nothing they could do if Hotels.Com failed to pay up.
This happened with loads of other merchants.
TopCashBack is a con.
The company should be properly regulated by the FCA with consumer rights being clear and protected.
Also, TopCashBack swiped £10 from my account for an annual membership - a membership I NEVER, repeat NEVER signed up for.
Con, con, con.

Hey Elizabeth,

Thank you for the feedback and I am sorry to hear this. We would try every avenue to get cashback to members but if we have not yet received any funds we would not be able to make transactions payable which i can understand can be frustrating especially if a significant amount of time has passed. WE would always look into transaction s for members and I can assure you if you get hold of us we can take a further look to see if progress has been made.

We can also look into your membership with us as this sounds like you remained a plus member after the 30 day grace period we do give to all members and mention upon sign up.

Best wishes

Terrible customer service

Worcester-Bosch customer service is DREADFUL. You get a recorded message from customer services saying they are too busy to answer the phone. And if you "get through to the queue" you are left on hold for at least 45 minutes.

What's the point of buying one of their products of you can never got hold of them in a reasonable way when you require support ?

Review of Astracast
1 star: Bad

Appalling customer service. Simply dire.

An Astracast tap had failed - AGAIN.
I telephoned Astracast on all its advertised numbers. After more than an hour on hold there was no answer to Sales. Similarly no one answered in accounts; no one-answered in the ledger department, no-one answered when the call transferred to the reception.
Sole director Darren Cooper runs an abysmal company which has withdrawn from being customer focused.
Not a single telephone being answered - begs the questions - is this company still operating ? With this dreadful service should it continue to be supported by UK customers? No.

DISASTROUS

Booked oil for a 3-5 day delivery window.

On the morning of day 5 I called Heatingoil.co.uk and was assured there would be a delivery that afternoon.

Nothing arrived.

After waiting for a very very very long time on the telephone I was answered and told they couldn't help as the Norwich depot was dealing with the delivery. Put on hold again. Eventually someone said they "hoped to deliver" within the next week.

Terrible. Never use this company.

Review of Marshalls Plc
1 star: Bad

Marshalls has a very real problem

Marshalls has a very real problem. It treats consumers with consistent, persistent rudeness and an astonishingly dreadful understanding of consumer law.
And the poor commercial behaviours have filtered through to suppliers and installers. We spoke to seven suppliers who urged us to consider alternative products because they could no longer recommend Marshalls paving for a host of worrying reasons including when things "go wrong", lower production standards, supply issues, etc.
Despite the pressure to buy from other manufacturers we pressed ahead with a very (very) large order of Marshalls products.
Then when we had a small issue Marshalls became immediately arrogant, nasty, unhelpful and ignored consumer law. That is now being addressed through the legal system.
But this is a terrible company to deal with. Happy to share letters from Marshalls as evidence of its belligerent, awkward and anti-consumer attitude.

AVOID - plenty of other paving manufacturers to choose from. Don't risk the offensive wrath of Marshalls.

Website description misleading. Had to buy an extra product + extra postage.

Paid for "next working day delivery" and then told it would be 3 days before delivery - no refund of course.

Won't buy from this lot again.

AVOID TOBY DEALS

TOBY DEALS is not based in the UK. It has appalling customer service which is now formally being investigated by Mastercard. TOBY DEALS fails to meet its written commitments on customer service, instead just sending silly emails saying "Have a lovely day ahead". From my experience your purchase is UNSAFE with this outfit. TOBY DEALS may offer lower prices on some goods but if you have a problem the outfit will not act professionally and abide by its written commitments. Avoid.

Review of BT
1 star: Bad

There's a genuine swell to extinguish BT once and for all.

At last there is a real, tangible growing political rejection of BT and its leadership under CEO Gavin Patterson. Consumers generally despise BT. Rightly so as it has turned its commercial focus on TV and abandoned its role to improve constantly the UK's digital infrastructure. Politicians have traditionally been afraid of BT for various reasons including its sheer scale, what to do with the conglomerate and its ailing pension fund. But no more. OFCOM was encouraged to kick BT's bottom over Openreach. But Patterson didn't blink because he was counting the money from TV expansion. However in the wings are China, US, India and others who will swamp the UK with alternative digital options once the UK has left the EU. Satellites in preparation will replace cable needs and BT will become increasingly irrelevant. So Patterson is simply a captain steering a sinking ship, while he piles high his pension of course.

It seems all the main political parties are fed up with BT's performance to both consumers and businesses alike. It has badly let down UK "plc".

The chances of Patterson now getting recognition "for services to industry" have dwindled. Even his neighbours hate him for his behaviours and attitude. OOOps, bit of a giveaway here !

Dreadful company led by a sub standard "tycoon". Awful. Truly bad.

But light is at the end of the tunnel within a couple of years.
