Efficient home move without frills
I was a bit apprehensive about using this company because of its no frills reputation and some dubious reviews but in my experience, it worked fairly seamlessly on a move from Scotland to the south of France. The European Moving office patiently answered all my concerns and what I like about this company is that it is halfway in price and much less in effort between a professional moving company with experienced staff who do everything for you, and doing it all yourself. You can of course opt to have full packing and loading/unloading, but the guys doing the work are not professionals. I recommend that you pay for a full van load (in my case 1000 kg or 20m3) which means that the contents do not need to be off-loaded and transferred with the potential for packages to get lost. The van will be driven all the way to your destination by the same driver and despite driving on the left or right in a right-hand drive truck. In my case the driver was Polish with very little understanding of English. I also recommend that you use packing blankets and protection to wrap all your furniture and valuable items before uplift (see the useful information on the website). As I say, although the driver of the truck was pleasant, he was not a professional so you have to direct and control the way items are packed into the van, especially breakables. As noted in other reviews, the van sides are soft and so I would not send anything of high value in this way. Insurance is not included in the price but the quotes I received from insurance companies were too high given the replacement value of the items so I decided not to insure. In the event, everything arrived intact and on time, so I am pleased with the service. The loss of one star is simply because this company is not a professional moving service but I can recommend them based on my limited experience so long as you take control of the loading and unloading process and make sure you pack well.
