Abrupt and unhelpful

There was approx. an hour of flight delay in Edinburgh to Bari and I had promptly let office know. I received a reply folloqing day. At the desk, it was explained to me that there were other customers late as well-arriving from same flight. I was the first one to arrive at your desk, due to being able to go through passport control without frills.
Despite this, I was told to pay 60 Euros for late check in and when I asked if this was specified in booking terms and coditions, your staff member behind the counter told me very abruptly: " eehh, either this or try to walk to your destination or good luck with finding a taxi. If you want, complain to your airline about this!"
Dissaointed with this treatment, I refused to proceed with the extra hidden charge and left.
I costed me a emergency hotel booking, taxi forth and back to Modugno, where hotal was, also a day less on the beach as initially planned.
Rented a car following morning with Drivalia, costing less, better car, also excelletn customer services.
Rest assured, I will forward this review in all platforms available, to inform potential future customers.

The requested supplement relates to the out-of-hours collection service and is stated in the rental conditions and price list. The tolerance provided in the event of a flight delay allows the reservation to remain valid, but it does not automatically waive the out-of-hours charge when collection takes place after the branch has closed.

Nevertheless, considering that you informed the office, the actual time of your arrival and what reportedly occurred at the desk, we believe the matter requires a detailed review. Please contact customercare@autovia.it with your reservation number so that we can verify the timings, the communications exchanged and the conduct you have described.

We apologise for this negative experience and for the impact it had on your travel plans.

Nice and easy

Was first on the line to get papers done. Was quick and easy process, nice personell. All in all getting the car didnt take more than 10 min with all paper works. Car was ready, just took and hit the road. Also returning the car was quick and transparent process.

I rented a car with Autovia through…

I rented a car with Autovia through Discovery Cars in Bari.
When I arrived in Bari at the Autovia desk I was told that I had to pay extra for insurance even though when I booked I paid for FULL insurance.My initial quote was 175£ and I had to pay a further 372 pounds on top of this for 1 weeks rental.
I was told that 100 euros would be refunded when I returned the car undamaged which I did a week later.
I have NEVER received my 100 euros ,I returned the car 4 weeks ago.At first the payment was pending on my credit card and then disappeared.I contacted Autovia who told me that it was refunded and sent a receipt which quite frankly could have been anything.I have NOT received the 100 euro have emailed them several times.
Do NOT use this company ,they are out to rob you .

we are sorry for the inconvenience reported, but we reject the accusation of theft.

Coverages purchased through brokers, such as DiscoverCars, are separate products from the Autovia rental agreement and do not automatically remove the security deposit, excess amounts or liabilities applicable at pick-up. Autovia coverages offered at the desk are optional and the choice always remains with the customer.

Regarding the €100 amount, if the release was processed but is not yet visible, timing may also depend on the banking circuit or the card issuer. We understand your concern: if you believe the amount has not actually been credited back, you may send your bank statement, rental agreement and receipts to customercare@autovia.it so that the case can be checked in detail.

A simple

A simple, straightforward, and quick way to rent a car! There are queues everywhere...
We received a car similar to the one we ordered—brand new and in absolutely top condition!
Friendly staff, and the return process was also quick and trouble-free!

Would give it minus points if I could.

Would give it minus points if we could.

Pre booked a baby seat but the small print says “based on availability”. Arrived at Bari airport to the rudest staff I’ve ever known who informed us there was no baby seat for us. No resolution (or even empathy). Got to the key pick up and there was a car seat there, asked if we could have it “no because you didn’t pay for it in the terminal”. They said we couldn’t because there was none available!

Honestly the rudest, most disorganised chaos. Please please book elsewhere so if you’re travelling with kids so the start of your holiday isn’t ruined.

When you go to leave negative feedback in their follow up survey it also doesn’t let you submit the form. Classic.

Bad experience

I had booked a car from AUTOVIA via the CarJet scam-broker. At their counter at Bari airport they did not recognize the full insurance I had paid to CarJet. The price I had to pay at the counter for their "valid" insurance was 27 Euro/day higher than the quoted price by CarJect!!!!!.
On top of it, they did n't have the car which I had booked through CarJet and for which I had explicitly asked them at the counter. They lied to me that they had it and after I paid them the deposit, 5 minutes later they asked me to choose another (similar) car from the available ones..(some unknown Chinese makes). So I cancelled the whole process and went and hired a car from Sicily by Car....I think AUTOVIA company is part of a scam-team with CarJet (as they did not recognise the advance payment which I had paid to CarJet!!)

Autovia operates in compliance with the rental conditions communicated to customers. Coverages purchased through brokers or external intermediaries do not always correspond to our protection plans and may not remove the liabilities set out in the rental agreement; for this reason, additional coverages may be explained at the desk, always on an optional basis.

Regarding the vehicle, the booking refers to a category or similar model, not necessarily to a specific model. We regret that the communication at the counter was not perceived as sufficiently clear, but our company does not engage in misleading practices nor does it cooperate with any alleged “scam team”.

Autovia car rent at Bari airport

Rented car at Bari airport. Experience was perfect. No que at the desk, it took 10 min to sign contract and pickup the keys. Parking is a few minutes away from terminal and car was ready to drive right away. Got a new car with just 2000km mileage, perfectly clean and nice.
As i purchased full insurance, no pictures or video took. Return was flawless and fast. Deposit of 100Eur returned immediately

Beware

Beware - Terrible service. Booked and paid Autovia in advance via Holiday Autos. Car collection was delayed by 4 hours due to illness. On arrival at the desk I was advised my car was no longer available and I would have to pay for an upgrade at +190EUR. They had my contact details but did not use them and had sold the car I had paid for to another customer. The desk refused to contact Holiday Autos claiming their phone did not allow outgoing calls! Holiday Autos on line chat advised they were unable to assist and I would be sent an email “within the next 3 days” to raise a query (email never received) – They offered to make a new booking but could not tell me what had happened to the car and money I had already paid. So Holiday Autos and Autovia received full payment for a confirmed booking and effectively refused to honour it, or offer any effective assistance, because my pickup was unavoidably delayed due to illness.

We would like to clarify that Autovia commits to keeping the vehicle available according to the pickup time confirmed in the booking, within the tolerance period provided by the rental conditions. In the event of a significant delay compared with the scheduled time, especially when no change has been agreed in advance with the branch, vehicle availability unfortunately cannot be guaranteed, as fleet management must also take into account following reservations.

When the originally booked category is no longer available, our team may offer alternative solutions based on the vehicles available at that moment, including higher categories with the relevant price adjustment. We do understand, however, that in the situation described the communication should have been clearer and more supportive.

We are also sorry for the difficulties you experienced in coordinating with the intermediary through which the booking was made. For reservations handled by third-party platforms, some changes, requests or payment checks must be managed directly with the intermediary, according to the procedures of the platform used.

We regret that this experience led to such a negative impression. Your feedback will be taken into account to further improve the handling of delayed pickups and the quality of assistance provided at the desk.

We past over the pain of not riding a 500 in Italy

We have been upgraded from the 500 (not available) to a Ford Puma mild hybrid manual. More confortable, more spacious, more difficult to park, but I do not have an issue with that. The car only had 23000 km onboard, I added almost another 1000.
Consumption was very reasonable at just over 5 litres per 100 km. It came spotless clean, in very good condition, I gave it back a little dusty. Overall a very good experience.
