I would not rent from CanaDream again.
During normal highway driving, the exterior water heater access panel detached from the RV and was lost. To be clear, this was not a storage compartment door that can simply be left open by a renter. It is an exterior service panel attached to the vehicle through a hinge/latch assembly and mounting hardware. We never opened it, used it, or interacted with it in any way during the rental.
There was no collision, no off-road driving, and no misuse of the vehicle. We reported the issue immediately and provided photographs. CanaDream’s North America Guest Support team acknowledged the issue and instructed us to continue the trip.
Despite this, we were later charged for the replacement. To date, no evidence has been provided showing that the panel detached because of negligence, misuse, or any action on our part. The charge appears to be based solely on the fact that the component was missing when the RV was returned.
In my view, renters should not be held responsible for the failure of a fixed exterior component unless there is evidence that they caused the damage. We followed the rental requirements, reported the issue immediately, and still ended up with a deduction from our security deposit.
CanaDream later offered a partial goodwill refund, but I remain disappointed with how this matter was handled. Future renters should carefully understand how damage assessments and security deposit deductions may be applied.
