Absolutely disgraceful handling of a serious safety issue by Dawsons.
A roof leak at my friend’s rented property was reported, and Dawsons promised it would be repaired on 3 September. That promise was not kept. The leak has now deteriorated to the point that water is entering close to the electrics. My friend cannot safely use the electricity or remain in her home and has been forced to leave.
Despite repeated emails to the lettings department and escalation to senior management, Dawsons has failed to provide any substantive emergency response, contractor attendance time or clear plan for making the property safe. They have also refused to provide the landlord’s contact details, leaving the tenant unable to contact the person legally responsible for her home.
The matter has now had to be reported to Swansea Council’s Private Sector Housing Team, Rent Smart Wales and local councillors—all because Dawsons seemingly could not manage the basic responsibility of responding urgently when a tenant’s home became potentially electrically unsafe.
I suspect Dawsons will find time to respond publicly to this review before it finds time to repair the leak. If so, that will say everything about its priorities.
I will update this review if Dawsons finally takes meaningful action.
