Tom Ford's Ombre Leather Eau de Parfum trades in a very specific kind of confidence, smoky, tactile and unapologetically sensual. Cardamom is the only top note, spiced and faintly citrusy, a brief overture before the fragrance's true character takes hold. Leather is the star here, rendered smooth rather than harsh, paired unexpectedly with jasmine sambac, whose creamy white floral sweetness softens the leather's edge without diluting its strength. The base does the most memorable work, as amber, moss and patchouli combine into a dense, resinous foundation that reads as both vintage and entirely modern.
