Nothing but hassle.

Nothing but hassle.
Went to their douglas store for a new phone contact. The contract i signed for was not the email sent to me, infact i got three different contracts all with my details and signature. I have these still as proof and lets just say MT was happy to brush it under the rug.
Last month i paid over £950 to pay off the phone so all debts including interest is PAID.
I knew there would be issues so i asked the sales guy for proof its full buyout... at my request he wrote down the case number for me.
A month passes and no MT bill taken for my fiber?
Turns out MT decided to take the £950+ as monthly bill payments and when that runs out ill be back to paying for the phone each month.
Please avoid this company if possible, save your sanity.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Everything they provide is expensive compared to the UK and to off-island alternatives that I can access within the IoM. Now they want to palm off their email offering because they’ve supposedly been “subsidising” me to access this part of their service for the past 25 years. And I then have to pay the new company a ridiculous amount for a service that Manx Telecom have seemingly been proactively ruining for the past couple of months ie. making it really difficult to access via Outlook. They’ve just spent a load of money rebranding the signage at their offices and will probably plunge a load more money into pointless advertising in what should be a captive audience. I’m Sure I won’t be Starlink-ing back to this bag of spanners of a company any time soon. Should take the word “Manx” out of their name - the island owes them nothing.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling. Connection is dire and I can’t get them to connect my new address to fibre. Passed from pillar to post and nobody will ever take ownership to get anything resolved. Paying for a service that I currently physically can’t receive. So frustrating!

DONT GO WITH MANX TELECOM

Technically Manx Telecom has not been impressive, they over charge for the even the lowest broadband speed but it does works. They charge you a rental for the modem and wifi extender that you must have from them and once you accept these items you to pay rental for the term of the contract. Where Manx Telecom are really bad is the billing and customer services, these two areas are really atrocious. Make any mistake in billing and they can't wait to charge for a reconnect fee. If you move to Sure Telecom you have to make sure that your Manx Telecom contract has completely expired otherwise again even with one day left they will charge you a cancellation fee even if you agree to pay the for remaining single day left on the contract.

The best way to avoid all of this is DO NOT START WITH MANX TELECOM AT ALL.

GO STRAIGHT TO SURE Telecom and sign with them.

If I could give half a star

If I could give half a star, I would. I am having to do their job for them. They blame faults on others. They've done nothing to fix my wifi problem which has been for about 2 years, but got worse in time. Don't touch with a barge pole unless you want to "go into store" or do their job for them. Full on useless

Billing

Tried to pay my bill through the website and in spite of bank authorisation did not go through although showed 'pending'
They cut me off and demand a reconnect fee.
I emailed saying asking them to e mail the bill and bank account.
They didn't.
As their phone is constantly engaged (I tried 24 times) I cannot discuss this with them.
As I am only on the island in the Summer I have no use for the service but am willing tocontinue paying if they reconnect

I am an elderly customer helped by Telecom staff whilst unwell by an incredibly kind and patient member of staff.

I am an elderly customer in my late 70‘s
While I was feeling very sick with a viral chest infection and was waiting for important emails from the hospital and test results I discovered I could not get into my email account ….it kept telling me my password was incorrect!
As you can imagine this was causing me extreme distress.
I rang and spoke to several people who although helpful passed me on to other departments.
Probably my fault I wasn't 100% sure who to report it to!
Finally a young member of staff came on and patiently listened to my problem.
Within minutes she had sorted the problem out for me and even took the time to talk me through how to open my emails…and change my password!
I cant tell you how much it meant to me ….that despite being so busy she patiently helped me when I was so desperate and in such bad health.
I’m sorry I do not know which department she was in I did ask her name and was told it is Kaileigh.
I do hope with such an unusual name it will be possible for you to identify her and thank her on my behalf.
Best Wishes
Chris McKeefry

Like the 1990s

Been on the island two months. Really bad WiFi at home. Yes, I’m in a rural location but can supposedly get (very overpriced) fibre optic.

Unless I’m physically beside the router, the signal is dire (<5Mbs in the room above the router). And it’s a tiny, two up/two down cottage. Extender just seems like an empty piece of plastic!

Had BT in England and full, strong, excellent coverage over a four storey town house and garden, with no need for a booster.

But even hardwired connectivity in my Douglas office is slow.

Completely unreliable network service.

Arrived on the island last week and the network coverage is totally hit and miss everywhere. It’s like living in the 90s again. Completely unreliable network and as the islanders say, massively overpriced for the utterly poor service they have to put up with.

Calls disappear mid conversation, signal strength borders on wishy washy, to signal at all. I haven’t even left the Douglas!!

Appalling, and seemingly going backwards to the last time I was over. I pity the islanders who have to put up with this provider as they are the main monopoly supplier. Given they have the lions share of the business, unfortunately investment in infrastructure is second to trousering profits it seems.

Arrogant attitude

The payment portal is not functioning on the MyMT site. I raised a case via the Manx Telecom website, only to get a heavy handed letter from credit control the very next day threatening to disconnect my number. The trust pilot ratings says it all. This company needs a good shake up.

I live at Governors hill and for years…

I live at Governors hill and for years we have suffered bad service in respect of the broadband service my neighbour upgraded to fibre but her service is just as bad as mine, we were told last summer that this was a good service as now they had fibre cable into the exchange, imagine our shock when last week we saw them installing fibre at the bottom near Governors Hill so in effect it would appear allegedly they have been lying all along as the fibre only ran down to the bottom junction boxes! In many occasions it impossible to watch TV because it just keeps buffering and to add to the the cheek they are charging extra for a service they have not been providing for years! Meanwhile the IOM Government tries to tell everyone they have excellent telecoms service, well I have worked in the third world and can testify that in many third word countries it is better than the IOM! Effectively this company still has the monopoly it was left by Post office Telephones some 30 something years ago and continues in my opinion to abuse the privilege!

rip off manx telecom

staying on the island for a few months so decided to get a local sim reccommended by them a £20 pay as you go. a total rip off, if I call a land line its 63p per minute. Anyway 10 days later still have either no service or a 1 bar signal at best . Have had numerous conversations with them , but you are just banging your head against a brick war. I have questioned an amount of texts charged for , but thought was in allowance, as i also have my roaming off, so how am i getting billed for these, its a joke. Whats app and email is the only option unfortunately. stay well clear !!!!!

If I could give Manx Telecom's customer service 0 stars I would!

Manx Telecom's customer service is non existent! I ordered a new phone and contract nearly 2 weeks ago - no it is NOT an Iphone 14 - since then I have rung 3 times and emailed 3 times to the customer services team, who don't seem particularly interested in helping, to find out the status of my order as it said on the website next day delivery! I have heard from NOBODY!! I am really getting angry now and will be going into the shop this week to let me know this. You can not run a business and ignore your customers, Manx Telecom! And I do not want to hear how busy you are. We are all busy.
