MPB is Top Notch in My Experience

MPB has a very easy to navigate website; a good selection of products that fit my needs; fair and honest equipment appraisals; shutter count is listed for cameras; actual photo's of equipment that is for sale. Their pricing seems to always come in lower/fairer than other used equipment websites. Shipping is quick and items arrive very well packaged to endure the abuse of long haul deliveries!

Feels scammed

In 5 days time, will mark 1 month since I sent away my camera and lens to MPB. And with no obvious or easy way to contact them I messaged on Instagram.

I was told they had emailed me (they hadn’t)

At this point I feel like I’m part of a strange scam. Having sent a Sony A7RIII and 35mm lens. I currently don’t know where my kit is, if it’s safe, already sold on?

I’m yet to receive anything from them. And communication is abysmal.

The painful part about all this. Is that I’m selling my kit as I desperately need the funds. That camera was my pride and joy. And here I am, now without a camera, or anything to show for it.

I’m sure someone would love to give excuses for this. But 1 month. With no communication, with someone’s kit. Is unacceptable.

scamming company

scamming company, send your gear to sell they offer in the first mail 1140 euros than you make the label for shipping they thank you and say your quote is 960 euros like 200 off just like that and when it gets there another 200 is off i assume what a wasted 20 minutes of my life...

An example of how to do things well

MPB is exemplary in all aspects of their service. Their process is very straightforward, and their excellent communications kept me informed of progress at every stage.

The prices they offered me for my equipment were a pleasant surprise, and their asking prices for their replacements were lower than I expected.

The whole process took just over a week. My replacement gear was well packaged and provided a big surprise on opening. It was like new, with some unexpected new additions.

I should have made this equipment exchange a long time ago; you've reinvigorated my interest in the hobby. Thank you.

Have been a customer multiple times

Have been a customer multiple times. The last two transactions involving trade ins have been excellent. Quick to provide inspection on shipped equipment so that new gear from the trade in can be shipped quickly.

I received an initial quote to trade in…

I received an initial quote to trade in my Nikon Z6 III and Nikon D850 toward a Nikon Z8. I was satisfied with the quote, so I shipped both cameras to MPB.
After MPB received and inspected the cameras, I received a revised quote that was significantly lower due to the high shutter counts. My concern is that the initial quote process only asked about the cosmetic condition of the cameras, which I answered honestly. I was never asked to provide the shutter counts. Had that information been requested, I would have gladly provided it and would have had a more accurate estimate before shipping my equipment.
If shutter count can affect a trade-in value this significantly, it should be requested during the initial quote process. Had I known what the revised offer would be, I would not have spent the time shipping the cameras or left myself without them for nearly two weeks. As a working photographer, that also meant being without equipment I could have used to book and complete photography jobs.
The quote process should be more transparent so customers can make an informed decision before sending in their equipment.
