He demonstrated strong technical expertise and true professionalism, providing effective solutions in what was not a straightforward situation.

The work was carried out carefully, efficiently and to a high standard.

Very good communication as well: reliable, punctual and attentive.

Great value

Neil and his team fitted our boiler and system ten years ago and have completed annual maintenance every year since. We’ve just had it maintained but installation was thorough and maintenance has been minimal. The system has been great value and given us economic heating and hot water.

Boiler replacement and upgrade

NCC did a superb job replacing and upgrading our boiler, hot water, and heating system. Their work from start to finish was excellent - they really listened to what we wanted in the consultation phase, and delivered exactly what was promised with a quick turnaround. They were also incredibly helpful with talking us through how the new system works and any questions or thoughts we had about further upgrades to eg. radiators or bathroom etc.. Overall, really highly recommended, with top notch quality of communication and workmanship.

UFH and ASHP

Neil put in our underfloor heating and air source heat pump. We are self builders, he was very patient waiting for us to get to the correct stage for him. He offered advice along the way. Would recommend Neil to anyone. Our build is toasty!!

Very good and helpful service

Neil and his team carried out delicate and effective work to complete and improve a heat pump installation that had been done by others. Neil was helpful and clear throughout and the results are excellent. Switching from a gas boiler to a high efficiency low carbon heat pump system is not simple and requires expertise. NCC have this expertise and I would recommend them.

NCC are competent, reliable and trustworthy

NCC competently resolved an issue which a previous engineer hadn't. The fee quoted was the price paid. Communication was excellent throughout and their response time was incredibly fast. I wouldn't hesitate to use NCC again.

NCC installed underfloor heating across…

NCC installed underfloor heating across 3 levels at our house beneath engineered flooring alongside a heat pump.

It turns out they used a product designed for tiling, rather than wooden flooring, and did not follow the manufacturer's instructions (which say that self-levelling compound or screed must be added if used below wooden flooring). This means that beneath the floors (which require even heat) there are hot pipes at 50C separated by cool insulation.

Their manufacturer says it's essential to install thermometers beneath the floor to avoid damage to the flooring - this was not done.

Their manufacturer says that concentrated pipes should be avoided or insulated to avoid overheating of the floor. In some sections 7 pipes have been laid together where the pre-cut grooves in the boards normally support 3. In those areas the floor is being heated to 30.5C way above the safe limit of 27C, which the majority of the rest of the floor is at 21C. So both damaging the floor and failing to heat the rooms.

During installation Neil's constant refrain was "I've run my business from home for 33 years, no-one has ever knocked on my door". Yet when we reported the issues with the installation we have had nothing but denials of the issues.

To clarify
We are the second company with which you have had a protracted engagement for underfloor heating (UFH).
We have promptly responded to all of your queries, over 100 email conversations and WhatsApp messages.
We installed UFH across 4, not 3, levels. The four levels had a variety of floor finishes, tiling, wooden and solid screed
We anticipated six weeks for this installation, which started in June 2022. We worked around your ever-changing work schedule, finally able to complete the installation in September 2022.

In January 2023, we completed a site visit with the UFH manufacturer, who conducted a full inspection.
We received a letter of complaint from you (21/01/2023), and our response remains the same as our reply (02/02/2023)

At the joint site visit, the UFH manufacturer confirmed the UFH was correctly installed. The UFH product we used is suitable for all floor finishes, including wood flooring, as specified by the UFH manufacturer. Not as you state for tiles only.
Our quote clearly states the UFH products we would be using, including cement boards. You shared with us the flooring company you were going to use, and their website recommends specific methods to install flooring on top of UFH, dependent on the UFH products used. Before the Dennebos engineered wood floorboards on UFH, the heating system must have been operable at normal capacity for at least 10 days or for a period of 14 days at 2/3 of its capacity, unless the instructions of the manufacturer of the heating system are different. This would have also given visibility to the cement boards for any issues.
Yet, your flooring was laid before the UFH system was brought up to temperature. Also, the installation method used for your flooring was a floating floor with an air gap; this was not the flooring manufacturer’s recommendation.
As you state, a self-levelling compound or screed must be added if used below wooden flooring. We agree with you, the flooring manufacturer recommends it, and your flooring installer should have done this.
NCC South East is not responsible for installing any flooring finishes and would expect an experienced floor fitter to choose the appropriate installation method or seek advice if unsure.

The system was designed for each room to be thermostatically controlled; you insisted on one per floor level for aesthetic purposes. However, we informed you that this would affect the system’s performance.
In response to your photo of the pipes – You have not shared the final layout. The company that fitted your new stairs, cut through the UFH pipes. We then removed the damaged pipes and made alterations to the layout. You have suggested that we should have run pipes under walls; NCC South East does not run pipes under load-bearing walls. Therefore, as advised by the flooring manufacturer, we would expect the floor fitter to have used a suitable thermal barrier in concentrated areas.

As we stated in our letter, neither the UFH manufacturer nor we are at fault. We will support you to push for the correct flooring installation to help you realise the benefits of an efficient heating system.

Reliable and can be trusted to do a good job

Neil and his team installed a new Worcester Bosch boiler and Megaflo tank with a Google Nest system at our house just before Christmas and came back to change the radiators afterwards. They did a great job. I had read a review on Which trusted traders which said he was a good old fashioned tradesman which is exactly what I found. He was honest, down to earth and reliable. To be honest he's been the first tradesman I've been happy with and wouldn't hesitate to recommend, after several bad instances with people on checkatrade.

Neil has just installed a new boiler and repaired the solar heating, as well as upgraded our shower. All with the minimum fuss and maximum knowledge and efficiency. I highly recommend NCC.

Boiler installation.

NCC proved to be not only efficient but also professional and friendly. There was little disruption to family life and they cleared up afterwards. We are very happy with the boiler and with their workmanship. We would certainly use NCC South East again.

Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I am unable to recommend…

Unfortunately I am unable to recommend this company. Neil came to my property to assess the plumbing problem I had. Having rung me to confirm he had obtained the necessary parts and made a firm appointment to do the work on the 6th October at 3.30pm, he failed to turn up. When I texted him two hours later asking if he intended coming he replied that he was 'still in Kent', whatever that meant. I have received no further response from him and there was no apology for letting me down. I was very surprised at this conduct by someone who is regarded as a reputable trader.

Neil supplied and installed our new…

Neil supplied and installed our new boiler as well as replacing all our old radiators.
We found him highly dependable and trustworthy. He is friendly, patient and
ever ready to help and replies to all queries promptly. He does not shy away from going the extra mile. We were very satisfied with the professional job done by Neil and his team

We first encountered Neil by chance whilst he was working nearby. When we approached him about
our broken down old boiler, he happily repaired it and was willing to come back on more than two
occasions to get it working again. All this he did for no charge. As a result we entrusted him with replacing
our daughter's boiler which he did extremely well.

We certainly have no hesitation in recommending him and his team to anyone.

Great service on our boiler.

Neil helped us with a boiler repair when British Gas recommended a new one. Neil also found a fault on our gas meter which British Gas missed despite checking the meter. Neil organised the repair to the meter and also repaired our boiler. Neil also gave the boiler a full service and showed where he had cleaned the boiler which had been missed by British Gas annual service.

Neil fitted a new boiler in my house about 12 years ago. He has been servicing it since then and has also replaced and moved radiators over the years.
He has always been professional with fair prices and I would highly recommend his company.
