I contacted SM Heating and Plumbing…

I contacted SM Heating and Plumbing Services after reading numerous positive reviews praising their reliability and based on recommendations from others. Unfortunately, the service I received fell well below those expectations.
I arranged an appointment to have issues with our boiler assessed and potentially repaired. Initially, things appeared promising as an appointment was scheduled quickly, which I appreciated. However, on the day of the visit, we were given a time window of 2pm–4pm. After several messages from me asking whether the appointment was still going ahead, the engineer did not arrive until 8pm.
While the delay itself was inconvenient, it was not the main issue. After briefly looking at the boiler, the engineer stated he would provide an estimate for the work. Before leaving, he took £60 from my partner. At no point was a call-out charge mentioned or explained, but we assumed this must have been the case despite the lack of communication.
A week passed with no estimate and no follow-up contact. I then messaged asking for the quote that had been promised, but the message was never read. This lack of communication raised concerns, particularly as the job had been described as straightforward and we were led to believe it would proceed.
Believing in giving the benefit of the doubt, I messaged again asking why no further communication had been provided. That message was read but ignored. At this point, it became clear that we had been taken advantage of — £60 taken with no transparency, no estimate, and no intention of following up.
This experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. While I do not believe my review will impact their business, I certainly would not recommend SM Heating and Plumbing Services to anyone based on my experience.

Fantastic service

I put a home emergency claim through with home emergency assist I gave them a one star because of the service but not because of this company, however I felt I had to give these guys a 5 star rating thru were meant to come out at 12pm-2pm today they came earlier the work was done within 15mins he was polite friendly quick abd a credit to the company. His name Simon or Steven I think. We didn't catch his name because he was so quick but is a plumber in Washington took him longerto get here than the job itself he was fantastic came around 1050 gone by 1115

I have hired this person on two…

I have hired this person on two previous occasions after both I was happy to leave positive reviews! Oh how my opinion has changed.
I had asked 11 weeks ago if he could replace my existing bath he came to look at the job and said yes, when I asked how much he would charge his reply ( as is usual for him ) “ how much do you want to pay” as before I found this strange and replied that he is the tradesperson I am the customer and that he should give me price he replied £500 I countered this by saying £400 sounds better and he readily agreed.
I ordered the bath and materials and phoned him after they arrived telling him I was about go abroad for just over 5wks in 2wks time and asked if he could do the job before I went away he said he was really busy and could I leave it till I returned? Unhappily I agreed to do this.
Approximately one week prior to my return I phoned him again asking for concrete date as to when he would come to do the job, again the reply “ i’m really busy please phone once you are home “
I phoned him on my return home 3rd November he said he was on a job and would phone that night, he never did, next day I phoned and got no reply.
One hour later I received a call from a some saying she was phoning on behalf of Mr Sarwar to say that the management team had discussed the the job and considering the work involved was too extensive and the new price would be £700!!! i told her i was surprised to be getting a call from his wife, she informed me that she was his secretary!!!! incredible
if you look his business up with companies house he is registered as the sole director the company is registered at a private home address ( so all of a sudden this man has gone from being a back street plumber to a plumbing magnate and part of a conglomerate! Aye write )
What a way to conduct a business and build up a good reputation.
Please do yourselves a favor and don’t go anywhere near Mr Sarwar or SM heating & plumbing services….
