The Customer service rep JPiano-bpo was very helpful in finding the hidden code for ClickDesk chat that I was trying to remove and use a different chat service. It was not in the normal place in the SEO footer; he found it hidden, embedded in the actual HTML/CSS of my Theme. That was a place I never would have found. Job well done. It’s never too late to start a business especially when everything is at your finger tips. I’m an 86 yo retired nurse and I’ve always worked hard. I’ve always been hesitant to start age street my own practice, I’ve never wanted to wear all the hats self employed owners often wear. However using Square for booking, scheduling clients, and website management and training payments has never been so easy. This has been a face changer in my elderly years of living.

Be aware of promotions for square plus that they send you even if you opt out, or don't answer in enough time, they will still charge your account. They will keep trying to charge your account until they get the money! I was satisfied until that happened to me recently.

Find any other company to do your processing. I had to cancel an order. In the past that charge would have been voided since it was the same day before the batch was settled. Not with Square. They charged the customer, charged me the usual fee, and then took many days to issue the refund. Disgusting.

They hound you to switch to square and once you do . All contact with salesperson gone. Customer service is horrible i spoke with multiple idiots at the beginning when I was having issues. And they had ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE.

Like others here, I wish I could give them no stars or negative stars! After using Square's services for a number of years, they decided to open an investigation or review of our business. Yes, we do have a tobacco shop (which many processors will not handle due to it being categorized as high risk) and we can totally understand being dropped as a client BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE, the manner is which they do this is so contrary to any good business practices I know of. I am a CPA and have worked in the finance sector for 40 years. I have never experienced such stonewalling from a company and insincere customer service in my life! The employees are like something out of the Stepford Wives, repeating canned lines over and over again without divulging any useful information. And you can never speak to anyone higher up who, praytell, might actually have some information for you. The worst thing, however, is holding a business's money for unreasonably long periods, claiming that they need to beware of any chargebacks. We have never had a chargeback in 30 years of business! That is a company's working capital and you could really cause problems for them, maybe even putting them out of business. Today is March 10, 2026 and they have been molding our money for about 120 days, well over the 90 days they said they needed to and getting any information has been impossible. They also lie to their customers saying that we will receive an email "by the end of the day or tomorrow morning, at the latest" but no emails have ever come. At one point, we were told that the funds would be coming in the next 48 hours and they never did! I even called my Congressman's office to see what they could do and they advised that we file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and other sites, like I'm doing here. This was just a warm up and the BBB and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are next on my list! As if I don't have better things to do! I have my own much-larger business to run but my husband is elderly and needs my help!

The staff are excellent. The only problem is that they could not help me out. I joined square since 2016 to run my small cafe in Tanzania. However I never used the 2 authentication factor since then. Last week the devise got broken and upon replacing another iPad it’s when I couldn’t get sorted out. Imaging losing all the data since 2016!

Square repeatedly reviewed my account once I started actually using it for unusual activity, that unusual activity was me actually utilizing the account, then they completed the review and things looked back to normal.
6 days later they reviewed it again and decided to deactivate my account and refuse to tell me why they did this while holding over $10,000.00 of my funds for 90 days.
Dont trust them they will leave you in a business ending situation, better options are out there like Clover etc.

We are a hemp-derived, THC-free CBD business and have processed payments with Square for the past two years without issue. Recently, we received a notification stating that CBD was illegal in Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming and that we could no longer sell or ship to those states. This is factually incorrect — hemp-derived CBD containing no THC is legal in those states.
After multiple calls to Square customer service, I was transferred three times and never connected to anyone in the legal department. One representative transferred me directly to a customer survey instead of assisting me. On a second call, I was told I would need to wait 1–2 days for an email response — all while my account was temporarily frozen. When I asked how I was supposed to operate my business during that time, I was told there was nothing they could do.
I attempted every possible avenue to reach someone: phone support, online chat, AI support, and independent research trying to locate a direct contact for Square’s legal department. There is no accessible direct line to resolve urgent compliance matters.
Two days later, I received another notice claiming our website contained language not approved by the FDA/FTC (specifically the phrase “helps with inflammation”). We immediately removed any reference to inflammation. Shortly after, we received yet another notification that our account had been fully suspended — again with no meaningful opportunity to speak with anyone to clarify or resolve the issue.
I manage five separate companies that process through Square, and this experience has forced me to reconsider using Square for any of them. The lack of direct communication, inaccurate legal information, and inability to resolve compliance concerns in real time has made this one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have encountered.
Businesses deserve clarity, transparency, and access to real support — especially when accounts and revenue are being restricted.
3/5-I just saw the Square response and still doesn't address the issues we're having. No contact, nothing and there is no "we can work on this together" as there is no way to respond or communicate with square!!
