Bully Boy Tactics & Financial Extortion

2024 Range Rover Evoque was due its 1st service in March 2026.

Had the car from brand new

Service Quote from JLR was £650 so opted to shop around at independent garages & went to my go to Garage at the bottom of Byres Road. £200

JLR have built something into its software that disables either the owner of the vehicle or any other independent garage to remove the ‘Inspection & Service’ Due warning that on the display permanently.

Press zero to remove message but this only removes the message for 5 minutes before it pops back up

This in turn disable the Satnav system from
Being mirrored to the internal dash display that sits behinds the steering wheel & it also doesn’t let you see how much Fuel ⛽️ in miles you have left before needing to refuel

It’s generally an Abruptor

Took the vehicle into JLR at Hillington today (9/7/26) for a Recall Notice to have the passenger Airbag replaced & took in my service invoice from March & asked if they remove the Inspection & service due message from the display

Things from here went downhill

I was immediately met with a more less friendly Tone & it was pointed out that looking at the invoice from the independent garage all it shows is a filter & oil change & that to have this message removed I would need part numbers that were used by the garage, what parts were used, the mileage, the garage details & was this garage vat registered which would then all need verified by JLR before they could remove this service & inspection message from the dashboard at a cost of £130.

Whilst the car was being worked on I received a video of a walk around of my vehicle which pointed out that my car needed a service & a bill for £758.

I declined for them to do this work

There was obviously no communication between customer services when I handed the vehicle in at 8am & the service department which would have informed the service department that the car had in fact had its service back in March.

This is a bully Boy Ta tics being used by JLR

If you don’t use their service option then the message cannot be removed from the display

If you use an independent garage the they want paperwork to prove part numbers ect before wanting £140 just to remove a service message

Out of principle I chose not to pay them a single penny

The customer service I received today was nothing short of absolutely appalling

Passive aggressive behaviour by 2 different female employees

They don’t like to be questioned about their tactics either

Made to feel uncomfortable & was looked upon like something they had wiped from the bottom of their shoe

JLR Hillington , You should be ashamed of yourselves & hang your heads in shame

The way I was treated in here today was shocking

Snidely sniggering staff

I will never step inside this place again

I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

The more JLR owners who are aware of this practice the better as it’s needed for awareness

Jaguar I Pace

I put my Jaguar I Pace in the Hillington, Glasgow branch on 23rd February this year, over 12 weeks ago, for battery cell replacements. I was told after several weeks that my car couldn't be repaired and I would receive a phone call from Jaguar Customer Services. Never received any communication and after 12 weeks I received another phone call to say my car was ready. Quite bizarre. However, I still have 2 and a half years warranty left on the battery so I decided just to collect it. Arrived at the dealership only to find a long freshly made scratch along the side of the vehicle. I have submitted formal complaints.

Bought a second hand Volvo XC40 from…

Bought a second hand Volvo XC40 from Taggarts in Hillington in 2022. I am disabled and needed a reliable car, so, I paid over the odds to buy from a reputable dealer. It spent a good deal of its first year in their workshop, 25 miles away, being 'repaired' while I ran around in loan cars. It had suffered water ingress and had to be 'bailed out'. Electrical components were damaged too. This caused the electrics to malfunction time and time again. I had to take them to the Ombudsman finally. I still cant get any communication from them. Probably hoping I go away. I lost thousands on this car and they couldnt care less. Be warned !

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
Buying experience when entering Lookers Jaguar Land Rover showroom Hillington Glasgow 2023
Second to none. VIP treatment.
Agreed to purchase a beautiful Range Rover Evoque Autobiography 2017 edition. 60k on the clock.
Presented to me under a red cloth reveal. Keys in a lovely presentation box. Wonderful, so happy, so special.
I have never experienced the purchasing of a car like this before. And I’ve had several cars in my over 30 years of
driving. Two brand new cars and several second hand, all from dealers, as a precaution, if things go wrong.
Eighteen miles on from leaving the showroom with this wonderful car, it came to a standstill on the motorway.
OOPS. Recovery vehicle back to the showroom.
On hindsight this is where I should have walked away. But again VIP treatment. I was given courtesy use of a brand
new VELOR 73 miles on clock whilst they fixed the broken down EVOGUE.
A faulty DPF was the issue.
When repaired it was driven to my door and the VELOR was picked up. My home is 5 hours drive from Glasgow.
Awe what a great organisation this Land Rover firm are. Good British Brand.
In local garage September and November 2024 for new alternator, crank pulley, battery, coil springs, tires, brake
pads discs and new reverse camera (water ingress on existing one). 69k on the clock.
Went on holiday for several weeks beginning of this year (not with car) and when back home and driving, heard
knocking from the back. Then battery would not keep a charge and boot would not stay closed.
In local garage diagnosed needing new haldex unit and a leak from windscreen
On 15th April I contacted Hillington branch and was told the warranty would not cover local garage repairs.
It had to be repaired at a Land Rover specialist as they use “prestige” Land Rover parts
Nearest branch Inverness who refused it when I told them the issues.
Hillington couldn’t look at it until October at the earliest.
Pentland Stirling booked it in for 30th April.
On the back of a recovery van at my expense (£660) off to Pentland Stirling it went.
Repaired, serviced, MOTed and ready for collection 30th May.
Time delay in collection due to work commitments and distance (5 hours drive away) my daughter picked it up
August. Mouldy, cob webs, spiders, stinking and still leaking.
When I emailed them for explanation on the condition, I was emailed back, told windscreen had been repaired and
no leaks detected but it was a health hazard for them to clean it.
Last week I contacted them three times for the documented proof that the leak had been fixed.
On third call they conceded they could not find proof so I asked to speak with a manager.
No return calls or communications.
Cleaned it myself to pristine condition and yesterday I got rid of it for less than all the repairs cost dreading that this
leak was causing more damage. 72k on the clock.
Range Rover parts are more than 4 times the price of normal garage parts. Making any warranty a false prophet.
After numerous request I have yet to speak with management of either Stirling Land Rover or Lookers Jaguar Land
Rover Hillington Glasgow.
Do not be sucked in like I was. 12k miles driven and over £26k out of pocket and I don’t have a car.
Look at the reviews on Trustpilot. (I wish I had) Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident
Trading Standards are my next avenue

Customer service is non-existent

Customer service is non-existent. Continually having phone and chase to get any update. Twice told my car was getting worked on when the LR app show it hadn’t moved. Told the car was ready when it wasn’t. Return the car with a dangerous fault due to their workmanship and no quality check causing no assisted braking. No response to 3 complaint emails by Hillington service manager or Looker’s complaints. Final email I include LR customers complaints, and they don’t response either.

I called the dealership as my coolant…

I called the dealership as my coolant light had illuminated. Absolute delight to deal with Louise at the service desk was brilliant. Coolant topped up within 5 mins of arriving and back on the road. Well done Volvo Glasgow and a big thanks to Louise a credit to the team. :)

The worst Volvo dealership

The worst dealership I have ever tried to buy a car from. Lookers online car valuation site wasn’t working, so after asking several times James Clive got back to me with a trade in valuation that was about £1000 less than several competitors, I then asked him if I sold car elsewhere what price could he do on the sale, no reply. The next day lookers online valuation site was working, it valued my car £1000 higher. I asked James why this was, no reply. After 3 days of no answers to my emails I asked to make a complaint to branch manager Euan, he said he would call me, several days later no call. All I wanted to do was buy a Volvo, what a dreadful example of customer experience. No doubt they’ll say we are always trying to improve how we work, but let’s be honest, this is not rocket science, replying to phone calls or email is basic respect and very simple. AVOID

Shambles, poor customer care.

Shambles, poor service, internal communication problems, cannot get through by phone " because I use Sky mobile " !
Lost a long standing customer, they have lost future business.
They really need to improve attitude, and get their act together.

Purchased a new car

Purchased a new car. Dealt with a low level sales person just new to the company. They were not that interested in the business is the over feel. Decided to pressure and got a price for trade in of old car for brand new car. Well what a process. On my last purchase we had a pleasant manager who offered us 5 year service plan (we bought cash) and overall a good experience. Well fast forward and it was Gordon - well what a guy and not in a good way. I will absolutely not be buying while he is there ever again. I tried to get them to offer similar on service plan and I had at one point 4 guys surrounding us saying it’s your car we shouldn’t be paying for services. We were cash buyers again.
It was a totally uncomfortable and unpleasant experience and never again.
Gordon was pushy arrogant and generally not nice. Sitting there like he owned the business and attitude was awful.
We bought the car but I won’t be back again the place has went to the dogs with him at the helm.
Good luck buying from this mob.

Great service again from Lookers, Lanarkshire…

The friendly attitude and knowledge of our sales contact, Robbie, he kept us informed all the way through from ordering to delivery and collection of car, on day of delivery he explained all the features of the car and all the things we needed to know about it, the whole experience and treatment from staff at Lookers, Lanarkshire was first class. This is the third car I have bought from Taggarts/Lookers and have never been let-down, a word also for their service department who also give great service.

The worst company to deal with! Do not BUY and DO NOT Trust!

The worst company to deal with. I bought a range rover from them over 2 years ago (02/02/2022) and they promised me 2 keys and they still haven't sent me the 2nd key yet. I have spoken to their managers several times but no one seems to care as they have sold the car they don't care anymore. Do NOT buy from them! Or atleast do NOT trust what they say or promise.

POOR POOR SERVICE

I wouldn't trust these guys with my car. If they can't do the basics like pick up the phone, return a call or respond to an email what are the chances of them doing a good job with your car.

It's a real shame as they used to provide an excellent service pre covid but they just dont seem to care anymore.
