Stresa is a really lovely town with lovely old palaces used as hotels. The lake area is pristine with beautiful flower beds. The actual town has many restaurants and is quite busy not too touristy with a nice atmosphere. The lake view is great and the pretty islands need to be visited. Our journey there included an overnight stop in Frankfurt at a very nice hotel. Our return journey was through the Swiss alps with fabulous scenery then included overnight in Paris at a smart hotel.
