I don’t normally leave reviews, but I think it’s important to recognise people when they genuinely deserve it, and Jack certainly does.

We came into the shop knowing exactly which walking boots my partner wanted, but we had no idea on sizing. As a result, she ended up trying on multiple sizes of the same boot, which could have easily been frustrating for the person serving us. Jack couldn’t have been more patient. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and completely stress-free.

We ended up chatting about his walk across Dartmoor and where we were heading on holiday in North Wales. It never felt like he was just trying to make a sale – it felt like a genuine conversation, which made the whole experience that much better.

While we were there, another customer interrupted our conversation very abruptly and rather rudely demanded to try on some shoes. Jack handled the situation calmly and professionally, then carried on serving us with a smile on his face. Having worked in the service industry myself, I know how difficult some customers can be, so I really appreciated how well he dealt with it.

People are often quick to complain but not always quick to praise. Jack is exactly the kind of person who deserves recognition. He made what could have been a simple shopping trip into a genuinely enjoyable experience just by being kind, patient and treating people with respect.

Ease of buying on-line. Staock is in ayt my locl store, Collection was simple and quick.
And of course, the shorts fitted, the price was good as was the quality.

Ordering and collecting all straightforward, communication good. Packaging was damaged which was disappointing as it was bought as a gift.

Having misshaped feet and difficulty in bending I was delighted by the level of service, stock knowledge and understanding that I received in Black's in Newbury from the assistant Ann. With humour and patience she was able to fit me up with not one but two pairs of walking shoes/boots and advise me about their wear. This was in stark contrast to their competitors ‘up the road’, Mountain Warehouse and Sports Direct who operate a self-service approach and appeared disinterested in selling me anything at all!

Jack was brilliant at helping me choose the right walking boots …he was patient and extremely helpful and knowledgeable and gave great advice. I have been for a walk in my new boots and they are super comfy!

Came in to find boots for my son's DofE, we were helped by Will, he was fantastic, very helpful and kind, all the staff were wonderful. We will be back :)

I was bit lost for a start, member of staff- Zak offerd as help. He direct us to the right sections and help choose the right equipment for expedition for my son.

Jack was incredibly helpful today. We wanted to buy a rucksack for an upcoming D of E expedition and he took the time to guide us through the options and then help fit the bag we selected. Purchased walking boots online and delivered within 3 days. BUT. Wore them twice second time I got cought in a heavyish shower and they let in alot of water. Returned them to our local shop and was treated as an idiot who didnt know what I was doing. Turns out these boots are a 2 season and and not for winter use. Website did not mention this at all. Wont be using Blacks again.

I cannot remember the name of the staff member but, as usually a fabulous service! I had previously returned 2 items from a 4 item on line order and didn’t get the paper work back.
Went back 4 days later as another item didn’t fit, I explained this to the staff member he was brilliant we were buying another item, he completed the refund and helped replace with a better fit.
No problems such really good customer service and very helpful, polite staff! Thank you!
