CARLOS WAS VERY HELPFUL IN THE PROCESS…
CARLOS WAS VERY HELPFUL IN THE PROCESS OF RENTING MY CAR. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME WITH THIS COMPANY AND I RETURN BECAUSE OF THE GREAT SERVICE I RECEIVED. IT WAS FAST PROCESS CHECKING IN AND UPON RETURN OF MY VEHICLE.
Second and LAST time ever using this…
Second and LAST time ever using this company. Rented from them in July. Purchased their insurance they went on and on I needed it. Then added the 12.95 a day for toll because again they said I would need it. They felt a little shady but it went okay
Then this morning happened. They are 24 hrs picked us up from airport at midnight in the spot they said they would be perfect. I preregistered online so at 1:00 am it was sign 10 times here you go. Went out to our piece of crap car. Over 74,000 miles . The front fender had a dent as did the rear. My mistake I did not take pictures. Returned it at 5:00 am and they say the front dent I put there. Excuse me ?! Long story short if I wanted to make it to the airport in time for my flight I had to file a claim before they would bring me. So I’m sitting in Orlando Airport having just delt with an absolutely rude rental agent. Wonder if this would have went differently if I would have purchased their treasured insurance.
Side note if you still decide to rent from them all the fees they take on is ridiculous.
The customer service was perfect
The customer service was perfect, attentive and helpful. The car was clean and brand new and the price was really good.
On the website said nothing about the…
On the website said nothing about the "full coverage insurance policy" that is not required by law, they dont want to do a refund for what they couldn't say before making the purchase. This is a full SCAM, do your research
Please reconsider, pay a little more
I rented a car from their Orlando location. First, the staff in Orlando were really nice - that’s the only good thing I can say. The car itself was 3 years old and fairly trashed.
I rented this car to use on my Mom’s 80th Birthday trip. We first noticed air low in a tire, which we fixed…. Twice. Next, the battery left us stranded on the side of the c road in July - again, my mom’s 80. I called my personal insurance to get a jump, which my insurance covered - Economy Rent a Car refused to assist us in any way. They say we’re out of their service area because we popped across the Georgia border to see a historical place. The gentleman who answered the call line also told me they were fining me $1,000 and reporting the car STOLEN (I’m still giggling about that).
I had paid in advance with a debit card so they can’t do that but when I picked up the car they told me that they had to charge me a fee per day for paying with a debit and would not let me leave a credit card as a damage deposit 🤷♀️.
Finally - I PURCHASED A BATTERY and had it installed so that I wasn’t stranded with my elderly mother in the Georgia heat. The battery that had been in the car was the wrong battery for the car so that’s why it was dead so early - should still have had the original battery but it didn’t - so weird.
Double Dipping!
Tries to Double Dip! Most Employees are very rude that I spoke with or contacted especially Ean and Frank Gutierrez. When you file a complaint of being charged twice they email you with no return phone number so you can’t call and talk with them. After a month of getting no where and you ask for a supervisor to call you your request is totally ignored!!
Customer Support has no idea how to rent a car or relate to consumers
I will sum up - we were charged for a "toll pass" that was not necessary to pass through tolls, even after I said "we are going to pay them ourselves". It's not required, and if we had been the type of folks to skip through without paying, then they could have charged our card (already on file). Instead, they offered gentle threats of "it will cost you" if you don't have the tag. And, then, as icing on the cake, entered all my husband's info wrong on the rental agreement. Would have been a great day if we'd been stopped by a cop - all the info on the agreement didn't match his driver's license or insurance info (yup - they got our insurance policy number wrong as well)
While the car was clean and in great condition - it's the only positive thing I can say. Very displeased with the Customer Support at this location. Basically non existent. I've emailed twice through their website contact form and called once with a promised return call that never came. Wow.
Good Rental Company
Cars in good condition, friendly Front Desk personnel.
Improvement Area: Have telephone support after working hours, and faster pick-up service at the airport after 12:00 am.
Horrible place rental car place in…
Horrible place rental car place in Orlando. Followed my car with GPS and started calling me and charging credit card $1,000 in case I went out of state 50 miles away. Weird comapny and started yelling at me when I returned saying I went out of state. Weirdos to the point where I had to begin involving attorney general for Florida. Sad because I admired they were a small business at the beginning but realized they were complete scam artists by the second day.
Up-Sold
Well, I wish I had read reviews before booking my rental car with Economy Rent a Car, Orlando. First of all when they say "Economy" that's meant literally. The car I had although clean had a broken antenae, what sounded like a muffler about ready to go, and no windshield washer fluid. That I could live with but I was, in my opinion, upsold on a Toll Transponder that I didn't need and only ended up using for a grand total of $1.08. The agent told me that given my itinerary I would surely need one, that many toll plazas had no change lanes, and that it was $12/day when in fact it was $12.95/day. I added that upon his advice for a total of $129.50. I used GPS when traveling in FL and did not even route myself exclusively on Non-Toll roads. When I returned the car intending to talk to someone there in person, I was advised by another agent to contact their customer service after getting home. Yes, I signed the agreement, but hoped that Economy's customer service would work with me. In short, they refused to do that. Long story longer--beware of the up-sell with this company, who by the way, told me that they never do that with their customers. Uh-huh; right.
Scam artists and bullies
Hi I made a reservation, through Alaska airlines, for economy rent a car at Orlando and it was the single worst car hire experience I have ever had. To give you context I have lived in 4 countries and travelled once a month for 6 years before a break over the last few years so I have some experience. I arrived at the desk and the man did the third rate over charging, adding charges discounting the insurance I already had from you and berating me into taking their advanced insurance. This is on top of adding fees for everything, including a $9.80 daily fee, because I only had a debit card. I pointed out his error which made him lie more. I then pointed out all his lies with evidence with insurance etc and told him I knew what he was doing. He then backtracked immediately and took my geico insurance and told me I shouldn’t have bought any insurance. It was a typical back street rental agent trick that ended up costing more than the main airport ones.
Just go with the main airport ones. These are scam artists and should be avoided like the plague.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
Big mistake renting a car from this place. Great price but when you get there, you find out you have to buy their insurance if you don't have your own insurance card on you. who carries theirs around with them? Then comes the "Buy the E Pass transponder LIE! Paid $45 for toll booth E Pass because I was told that if you don't have it and you come to a toll booth without a pay option, there would be a $20 charge. When I asked what happens to a driver who lives there and doesn't have E Pass, I was told that the State sends a bill to the car owner. Well, that was all BS. I counted up $6.40 in tolls that we passed through and every one of them had a pay at the toll option. So basically, I wasted $38.00 and change in E Pass toll transponder that I did not need. Now comes the car. I rented a mid size car and got a Hyundai with 87,000 miles on it. No windshield washer fluid in the car, bad wipers and no high beam lights. Very unfortunate way to begin a short trip to Florida. Never ever again will I go to Economy rent a Jalopy and you shouldn't either.
Terrible experience - don’t use this company!
Terrible experience! Used their Orlando location. They forced me to buy extra insurance after I declined and said credit card covered the insurance & damage. The final rate they charged me at the location was almost double the cost I was quoted when I booked on line.
While I was at the counter finalizing my reservation, a lady at another counter to pick up her rental and I heard her dealing with the same problem with her agent.
Overall I had an extremely disappointing experience. I will never use this company again.
Stay away from this company. Total ripoff.
I have rented a car recently and would like to share my experience. It was around 10 pm in the night, I landed in Orlando airport on 16th. As this company located offsite a shuttle took me to their offsite facility around 10.30 pm. The guy at the counter looked at my reservation and collected my insurance details and entered all the info. He forced me to take the toll pass for $12 each day even though I told I will pay cash at the toll gate. He was totally oversold and finally provided a car. As it was night, I just took the car, inspected briefly and drove out. While I was returning the car on 19th, a young guy took the keys and noted the mileage. All of a sudden he told there is a chip damage in the windshield that I need to pay through my insurance. He was specifically looking at the spot that he knows that existed. The moment I returned the car he asked whether I took a picture of it earlier. I told that the chip was so tiny and was not visible at the night that I rented. Evnthough I explained, all he wanted is to a file a claim and deposit $500 from my credit card for the deductible. I was totally surprised and I had no option as I need to catch my flight. The young guy was so rude and it seems that they do this kind of ripping off knowingly by exploiting the loopholes that renters are not aware. Also I strongly believe that they repeatedly rent the same car and rip off from different people. Stay away from these bad guys and I will never do the mistake again going offsite rental with this bad company. It is better to rent from other well known ones such as Hertz. Alamo or National even though they are little expensive.
This company should definitely be…
This company should definitely be audited. I picked up a dented, scratched up 2022 Nissan Pathfinder at the Orlando office on a Wednesday (kept a video just in case) and was greeted by a rude young man who spoke Spanish to me then proceeded to talk negatively about me and my family in Spanish to his other coworker sitting besides him when I did not respond in Spanish (little did he know I am bilingual).
An incorrect email address was attached to my receipt and when I requested it be changed, it was not (this worries me with all of the fraud being conducted by employees of businesses against consumers in this day and age).
Then when I returned the car three days later, my employer requested an itemized receipt detailing that $500 was held as a deposit for the vehicle. The branch manager (Esteban Ramirez), refused to do so and proceeded to write in handwriting the word "deposit" on the makeshift receipt. I explained to Mr. Ramirez that unfortunately a handwritten "note" saying "deposit" would not be sufficient for my employer. He said that this was all he could do, and ensured me there is no way to document that $500 was being held on my company credit card as a deposit.
Mr. Ramirez was also very rude and would not provide me with the regional manager's name or number when I requested it, to further investigate the reason behind a Branch Manager not being able to provide me with an itemized bill. He referred us to the Customer Service line who stated that in order for me to receive an itemized receipt from the company, I had to send an email to the email address on the company website. This is incredibly unfortunate as I travel many times a month for work and will never rent here or recommend others to rent at Economy Rent a Car ever again in my life.
I can only add to the other horrible…
I can only add to the other horrible ratings. They wanted proof of my personal insurance even though my credit card covered the insurance just to get me to purchase theirs, They also charged me a $ 20 administrative fees for tolls. My credit card was compromised after my transactions with these greedy thieves. Funny coincidence.
stay away from this company i was kick…
stay away from this company i was kick off the desk after less than a minute just for insurance charge very bad customer service no respect this is in orlando,FL
Definitely avoid Orlando airport…
Definitely avoid Orlando airport location
They take you on a crazy shuttle bus to their location away from the airport so you’re stuck and then they add on all these crazy things and then tell you if the car comes back with a stain they’re going to charge you. They smile and nod as they screw you, very bad management skills. The car they tried to give us head damage to the passenger side as if we would not notice and when I questioned it they said take pictures because they’ll charge you for that .
Not trustworthy RUN!!!
Like others I’d leave zero stars if I…
Like others I’d leave zero stars if I could. The check in staff person was rude and there are a lot of hidden fees they lock you into when you pick up the car. What I thought was going to be a decent deal when I booked through a third party ended up being more expensive when getting the car. The engine made a noise every time I accelerated and the car had obviously been through previous accidents. Will be watching my credit card to make sure they do not make any unauthorized charges. Learn from my experience and go elsewhere.
