We bought a very expensive dinner…
We bought a very expensive dinner service from them and after 9 months the glaze began to show many small black marks, we contacted them and have had absolutely no joy in remedying the issue.
Their "customer service" team are unhelpful and refuse to address the problem, suggesting I go to the manufacturer, we were houng to buy from John Lewis but Harts were recommended, our mistake.

We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the level of customer service you received.
After reviewing your order in more detail, we can see that you contacted our Customer Service team regarding marks that became visible on your plates after approximately eight months of use.
The images you provided were carefully assessed, and no fault with the plates was identified. The marks appear to be metal transfer from cutlery, which is a normal occurrence with ceramic tableware and can usually be removed with appropriate cleaning.
Please note that ceramic is generally harder than cutlery, so some transfer of material from utensils may occur during normal use.
Our records also show that we contacted the manufacturer to request an independent assessment.
As the plates were not considered faulty based on the information available, and because your further questions related to the chemical composition and long term durability of the material, we advised that these matters would be best addressed directly by the manufacturer, as we are unable to provide technical specifications beyond the information supplied to us as a retailer.
Although we have already provided a detailed explanation, cleaning guidance, and links to article that explain this type of marking in more detail, we remain happy to review your case again should the manufacturer's assessment determine that the plates are faulty.

My package was delayed and when it arrived the item was damaged. Unfortunately I have no way, to take a photo as requested in order to get a replacement. There appears to be no alternative. Therefore I am stuck with a damaged item.

Unfortunately, once parcels leave our warehouse they are in the hands of the courier, and on rare occasions damage may occur during transportation.
After reviewing your order in more detail, I can see that we initially requested photographs of the damage, as required by both our internal procedure and the manufacturer’s process. However, as soon as we were informed that you were unable to provide the images, we promptly arranged a free return for you and provided the relevant return instructions.
