STAY AWAY FROM TUNECORE! A Complete Nightmare for Independent Artists.

STAY AWAY FROM TUNECORE!

If you are just starting out in music, do yourself a massive favor and stay far away from TuneCore.

They have a predatory clause in their Terms and Conditions that effectively gives them absolute power to steal from you:
"By agreeing to the TuneCore Terms and Conditions, you have agreed that in the event that TuneCore has any reason to suspect your account or releases have been subjected to, involved in, or generated revenue through any improper conduct, that we may take down your releases, block your ability to withdraw funds, and/or permanently close your account."

Everything seems fine at first—until you actually try to withdraw your money. Suddenly, you’re hit with a "Withdrawals Are Temporarily on Hold" notice. You reach out for support to resolve it, and instead of help, they just permanently shut down your account without providing any real explanation. It’s an absolute joke.

Here is my experience: I used Suno to create my music. I released 5 tracks without any issues. When I tried to release my sixth, they rejected it citing "AI content." Fair enough—I stopped using their service immediately. However, since I had already paid their $25 annual fee, I left the first five tracks up while I transitioned to a new distributor, still foolishly trusting them.

My first attempt to withdraw $45 failed. I assumed it was just because it didn't meet their minimum threshold. The following month, after clearing the $50 minimum, I tried again. They immediately locked my account. No warning, no justification, just a cold response claiming they have the "right to do it."

I stopped using them the moment they blocked my AI content, and even when I tried their recommended "Google-Flow" method, I was still rejected. I’ve been a subscriber since October 21, 2025, but I’ve barely been able to use their services. This has been a total waste of time and money.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are unreliable, unprofessional, and they will hold your royalties hostage for no reason.

I do not recommend Tunecore

Tunecore were great when I started because despite their system bugs and error issues, most of the staff were helpful. Some of the staff were downright rude and I did have to make a formal complaint twice about one particular agent. But something has channged. They accused me of using AI in a track that didn't use any AI. I offered to provide them with proof. But even though I emailed back and forth with several agents over several months not a single one would help me. They just kept copy and pasting the same reply that didn't address my help request. Very bad service and would highly recommend you look elsewhere. I have switched over to Distrokid now and have had no problems at all. I don't think Tunecore is a scam but it's a very bad company that doesn't care about its customers at all.

Absolute scam!

This platform is a total trap for independent creators. Their automated backend software is fundamentally broken, throwing out massive errors and wildly contradicting itself on identical files from one minute to the next. Instead of fixing their internal glitches, they expect the customer to pay for their mistakes. The customer support is an absolute insult; you will never get to speak to a real human who exercises critical thinking. Frontline agents just mindlessly spam the exact same pre-written templates, flatly refusing to pass obvious technical bugs up to a manager or supervisor. They take your money upfront, completely fail to provide the service, lock your account, and pocket the fees. A bank chargeback is already underway. Save yourself the massive headache and use a modern distributor that actually works.

Changed their ToS and stopped…

Changed their ToS and stopped distributing AI-created music without offering refunds to customers who signed up previously when they permitted AI music. You can't take someone's money for a yearlong subscription and then decide halfway through that you won't provide the service they paid for any more. Well, I guess these big businesses can....gotta love those corpos!

Customer service stinks

Customer service has beyond slow or no responses. As long as you have no issues, they’re fine. But if there’s an issue with a release, you’re on your own. You’ll remain in a waiting limbo for extended periods of time.

TuneCore withheld my money for no clear reason

I am very disappointed with TuneCore. They withheld my money and permanently closed my account due to "abnormal activity," but never explained specifically what that abnormal activity was. TuneCore also sent a message saying "you can still release this song on another distributor," which actually signals that there was no issue with my music on other DSPs.
As a result, I moved to DistroKid, and everything has been fine with no problems at all. I honestly don't know if TuneCore is truly a scammer that steals money from its artists. I am truly disappointed.

Absolute scam - Hidden fees, automated rejections and terrible service

I am absolutely disgusted by how TuneCore operates. They advertise a "free distribution plan," but the moment you advance through their interface, they use misleading pop-ups to lock you into a yearly subscription, charging $29.24 USD through PayPal without clear consent.

Immediately after taking my money, their automated "Content Review" system rejected my fully legitimate, studio-mastered release under a completely false pretext regarding AI usage. They charged me for a yearly subscription and then immediately denied the service I paid for, refusing to distribute my music. This is a complete breach of contract and a scam.

I have already filed a formal dispute with PayPal for "Service Not Rendered" (Case ID: PP-R-NCK-630782976) and blocked their automatic billing permissions. I have also emailed their support team demanding a full refund.

Do not trust this platform. They bait independent artists with fake free plans, steal your money through hidden subscription walls, and then block your music with broken automated bots. Stay away from TuneCore!

They rejected my release because of…

They rejected my release because of Suno AI dataset legality. For Godsake can someone tell me which dataset ChatGPT or Gemini uses? Noone questions those. All internet is legal dataset. On my accepted releases they always work lately. It took approx. two weeks for my releases to be distributed. I also bought best package for TuneCore accelerator. But my songs never accelerated. Stay away from this company because they always make things harder and insult. Work with DistroKid or national company. I am not going to work with them anymore. I decided to work with Turkish company. Also for payouts they force you to use payoneer which is a company that is taking 30$ annual fee besides per withdrawal fees. So if you are new you are going to give what you earn to payoneer as a tribute. payoneer is only option they provide.

Deliberately obstructed releases.

When releasing a version of a track which differs from the original it is mandatory under industry standards to enter 'version' info. I did. Tunecore blocked release, repeatedly claiming my version information was wrong, in the wrong format, or unnecessary. MANY emails failed to resolve this.

If their filter flags you as AI…

If their filter flags you as AI incorrectly, the agents don't read your emails. It's impossible to get any help. They can only issue copy/paste responses. I suspect they have been told their AI detector is infallible - so they won't allow you to provide proof of human creation - and will ignore anything you say - basically treating you as a liar! It's infuriating.

Ultimately, after continuous contact, numerous agents over a period of 2 months, they still would not address the content of my support request - just kept copy/pasting responses.

I'm giving up with them at this point as I have no choice. My future releases will be through Distrokid. And if nothing changes at Tunecore, I'll be moving my whole discography over.

Really gutted. For 3 years they were great. All of a sudden I'm experiencing the worst customer service I've ever experienced from any company in my 50 years on this planet. I wouldn't recommend this company right now because mine isn't an isolated case - and judging from these reviews, some people have experienced far worse than I have.

UPDATE: After 2 months of nightmares with Tunecore, I went to Distrokid. It's a world of difference. The interface is simple and far less buggy. The whole process is frictionless. I wish I had signed up with Distrokid originally because even when Tunecore was working well, there were tons of errors and delays all the time because their filters would block a release saying it had special characters or something was wrong with the title format when there wasn't an error. It was just very buggy and slow. And some of the agents were unhelpful and rude. If you are sitting on the fence, I highly recommend Distrokid over Tunecore.

It's virtually impossible to deactivate…

It's virtually impossible to deactivate or delete an account even when all releases have been discontinued. The links to deactivate the Professional Unlimited plan have disappeared, and it's become impossible to contact support. They don't respond, or if they do, they don't close the account despite repeated requests. Furthermore, they don't even let you deactivate payment methods. In short, you're trapped on this platform, which over the years has become annoying and significantly inferior to its competitors. Too bad to be real.

I'm a artist with millions of streams across multiple platforms. Tunecore, took down 4 songs, their fraud department stated, unusual activity. This is a lie. My base likes my music and listen to it. Thank God I did not place many songs on this platform. DO NOT USE! Save yourself the headaches.

Almost Criminal

This company’s conduct has been one of the worst consumer experiences I’ve ever dealt with. I repeatedly had to contact their official support email over the past 12 months requesting cancellation of my account because their website either hides, obstructs, or outright fails to provide a straightforward way to cancel properly.

Also, despite clearly informing them that I withdrew authorisation for any further card payments as well, they have continued attempting to charge multiple cards linked through my Google Pay account for months afterwards. In my opinion, the way their cancellation and billing systems operate feels deliberately designed to abuse the card system.

I have retained copies of the emails, cancellation requests, and records of the attempted charges. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.

Never use TuneCore for distributing

Never use TuneCore for distributing. There customer service is the worst. They hold back 50%+ of ur releases because of some nonsensical problem. Switches to Distrokid and had 0 problems with the exact same songs. All where online and streamable within 3 days whereas TuneCore takes weeks.

I'm still trying to cancel my subscription but they CLOSE MY TICKET WITHOUT RESPONDING. I have to create a TICKET to get them to cancel my sub and they CLOSE IT.

Idk if theyre actually trying to scam people, or if they just dont care about their customers. Might be both

TuneCore is a dying dinosaur that…

TuneCore is a dying dinosaur that doesn’t know it’s dead yet
I’ve been paying for their Unlimited plan and got nothing in return. Not even basic customer service.
They claim to respond within 3 days. That’s a lie. My refund request was completely ignored — not rejected, not answered, just ignored. Like I didn’t exist.
Then there’s their “Band Accelerator.” Marketed as a breakthrough for independent artists. In reality? An expensive nothing. A straight up scam.
The real blow came when they rejected my album under their GenAI Music Content Framework — despite 12 previously approved albums and two years as a paying customer. No dialogue. No real engagement with my arguments. Just a template response and a closed door.
TuneCore is a dying dinosaur trying to regulate itself into relevance while the world has moved on. They don’t understand the future — they fear it. And they send the bill to the artists who are literally paying their salaries.
I’ve moved to DistroKid. Never looking back.

The best but from the worst

They work only with Payoneer which is pain in the ass. I wait the money sometimes 7+ months! That's insane. And a lot more. When I'll be able, I'll take my songs away from them.
