Review
After much deliberation I have finally decided to leave a review for Vets for Pets Sutton Coldfield. Leaving a negative review I always find difficult but when it’s duly deserved I think that I should put my views across.
I have had Cats throughout my life , I am currently 65 and I know difficult they can be, every vet must surely be aware of this. I am down to my last cat who is in my opinion an average cat. I have had cats who are larger and more difficult shall we say but they have always been examined even if a nurse with a towel is needed to complete the task. It is about the pets wellbeing after all.
I have always known that Vets for Pets is expensive but as long as my cat is being checked over correctly I put up with it.
All this has changed, my last visit was a joke to be honest. Firstly a young lady was put on reception who obviously did not want to be there, maybe she was new but one of the other more experienced receptionists was being very patronising to her also with a strong hint of sarcasm. The head nurse was in between them both and was doing her best to calm everyone down and being very professional a credit to her position.
I then saw the vet, a young lady who I’m guessing was quite new to the profession, she was very pleasant but came across as very inexperienced. I had to pay £59 upfront for a checkup and to have her nails trimmed. The examination was very brief to say the least and she never even checked her eyes. She trimmed two claws and only did the third as I insisted as it was causing my cat discomfort. I was informed that my cat needed sedation 12 hours before she could be seen in future. Every vet I have ever been to has never said this and the occasional cat that I have had that has been difficult a nurse would come out for a few minutes to assist.
Is this a way of ramping up the costs, three people on reception may be where your priorities should not be. Maybe taking payments and booking in are more important than caring for pets and their wellbeing.
With the high turnover of vets and using agencies will have a detrimental effect on consistency but will probably maximise profits. The days of James Herriot are long gone.
Are there any decent vets left I wonder? . I believe the government are looking into over charging so it is obviously a big issue if the government has noticed.
Vets 4 Pets - Waltham Abbey
Amazing experiences with the lovely people at Waltham Abbey branch. My daughter was looking after our little Pomeranian for the weekend as we were away, and he developed bad diarrhoea and sickness and literally couldn’t even keep water down. Vets 4 Pets Waltham Abbey agreed to fit him in for an emergency appointment even tho he wasn’t even registered with them. They treated him promptly with anti-sickness jabs and antibiotic jabs.As small dogs can go down hill very quickly their actions quite possibly saved his life and we are extremely grateful for their kindness and going over and above by agreeing to see him in the first place. Thank you
Kind and welcoming for both me and the doggo
Eva the vet was so kind and comforting for my doggo. The girls on the desk were welcoming and kind, too. Coming from a vets that was the opposite of this, it is such a refreshing change. Thank you!

Julian is a lovely vet, as are afew of the others i’ve spoken to.
But absolutely gobsmacked to be quoted £65 for a missed appointment. I’ll be collecting a copy of my pets medical records and will be taking our business elsewhere. Absolute sickening, cost of living and as always vets are just looking to grab money where they can
Vets for Pets at Gamston Nottingham
The receptionist said we wouldn't need to pay for the consultation when we booked and we'd just have to pay for the flea and mite treatment. On paying they charged for the consultation and denied saying we didn't need to pay it so we paid £105.36 in total and came away with 1 tablet. I could of got the treatment cheaper from else if that was the case. The receptionist was very rude and unprofessional. We won't be taking our pets back to vets for pets after this awful experience. Absolute robbery and totally unprofessional

The prices here are some kind of sick joke. I paid £100 just for the rabies vaccination required for travel to the EU. The cost of the AHC (valid for a single trip) is £283. It’s a scandal!
I have used Vets for Pets Rotherham…
I have used Vets for Pets Rotherham (Wellgate Road) now for many years, the service I receive and my cat Lulu has always been amazing, you never feel rushed when your with the vets and they always explain everything clearly and don’t mind going over it again if it’s something more complicated. I also love the way that they make a fuss of your fur baby and they really do care, they are always so compassionate and it shows that it isn’t just a job for them they really do care. Also not forgetting the lovely ladies on reception as they also play a massive part for the surgery, a few months ago (was a false alarm as Lulu was just being grumpy that day) but the vet was having a feel of her belly and she was hissing so like me the vet thought that there could be something not so nice there, I was given some meds to give her to calm her down before returning the next day so he could do another examination, when I was at reception I was beside myself and crying and I was looked after by all that was working that day, if your looking for a new vets please contact them you will be in very safe hands, I’ve recently moved and now live an extra 20 minutes drive away and there is a vets practice near me but I won’t ever go anywhere else.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Vets for Pets Stechford.
Yesterday (29th June), I tried calling repeatedly from 9:00am until around 12:30pm, and not once did anyone answer the phone. My cat has been unwell with stomach issues and hasn’t been eating, so I needed to buy the special food she has been prescribed.
As I couldn’t get through, I drove to the practice. When I asked if there was a problem with the phones, I was told that a new member of staff was being trained. The new employee was sitting beside the receptionist, and I witnessed the phones being left off the hook. The receptionist simply pressed a button while the phones remained off the hook, meaning no calls were coming through.
Given the recent heatwave, I can only imagine how many owners were trying to contact the practice with seriously unwell pets. It is deeply concerning that no contingency appeared to be in place while staff training was taking place.
To make matters worse, I tried calling again this morning and still received no answer. As a result, I have now had to register my cat with a different veterinary practice because I no longer have confidence that I could rely on this one in an emergency.
I find this level of service completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Training new staff is important, but it should never come at the expense of answering calls from worried pet owners, especially when animals may need urgent care. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone trying to contact this practice with a sick or injured pet.
Very caring vets and nursing staff
Very caring vets and nursing staff, espacially Cloie and Pamela, thank you. However i have given 5 stars to them only.
Ive reason to complain about some reception staff. Bullet points as follows:
Sending appointment to me when it shouldve been sent to another person.
Giving me a date for my kittens 2nd vacc which was to early. Luckily Hanna was on hand to sort it all out, thank you Hanna as she spotted the appoint error for vacc by chance, she couldnt apologise enough.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of care and customer service I received at this veterinary practice in Woking. My concerns about my pet's condition were not taken seriously, and I felt the diagnosis was rushed without a thorough examination or appropriate testing, to even being told that my pet was playing up and it was normal teenage behaviour when I could clearly tell my pet was suffering and in distress.
I was left with unanswered questions and little confidence that my pet's needs were being properly addressed. Instead of feeling supported during a stressful time, I felt dismissed and unheard.
Next day, my pet’s condition had deteriorated and I contacted the veterinary practice for an emergency appointment for my pet to be seen asap, to then be told that the practice was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. I pleaded for assistance and guidance of where I could take my pet, to simply be told ‘sorry I don’t know, if we have a cancellation we will call you back’ I find this unacceptable.
I entrusted this practice with my pet's health and expected a professional, compassionate approach. Unfortunately, the lack of thorough diagnosis and poor customer service fell well below those expectations. I would not recommend this practice based on my experience.
They should wear masks (Bandits)
After a few visits with my cat i can safely say the incompetence shown and lack of communication is pathetic, after paying for additional visits and blood tests a week ago i am today told to my face they don't know what is going on, they were quick enough to take money off me for additional tests on my cats blood to rule more illnesses out, but a week later they have no idea, i can guess what happened, the vet is away with the fairies and no request was made i suspect, they don't even know if the external company doing the tests had enough blood or kept the blood to run the additional tests, i was informed i would be told on the Monday if we needed more blood taken and by Friday when i ask questions the whole practice is clueless. Quick enough to take my cash though, Angry, disappointed and very frustrated, they informed me they care but obviously not much. I would not recommend the one in Cleveleys to anybody based on my experience

My 16 year old dog was put to sleep at vets for pets all the staff were absolutely brilliant with me and my family they let us all in to say goodbye we never felt like there was a time limit on us to say goodbye and he was cremated on his own I think because he was a big dog and his ashes came back in a beautiful scatter box with a lovely card from the staff and plenty of nose and paw prints the staff were amazing with me and my family
Amazing vets
I have nothing but absolute praise for this Pet Hospital in Barnsley. My dog is currently in the hospital, and from start to finish the treatment she has received is outstanding as is the communication between Peter the owner/vet, David our regular vet, Will/vet, and all the nurses and admin team, Even the insurance lady Kimberley got me an update for no reason, we were just discussing Sasha's insurance on email, but she thought I would like an update. Everyone is just so caring, what more can you ask for.
I've been coming here since it opened in 2022 and wouldn't consider using another vet, and where I've read reviews moaning about costing etc, if it was compared to human private health care and not the NHS, its actually around the same price, I would much rather have the treatment availability, and expertise and pay for it than not. I've seen this practice grow from a small two man band with Peter and Caroline, to what it is today, I feel very fortunate to have this service with the facilities and expertise so close to me.
Without their knowledge, and facilities I'm not sure my girl would still be with us with the complex conditions she has had for nearly two years. Being there often I've probably met an awful lot of the staff in all areas, and every one is friendly, caring to both owners and pets, helpful, empathetic, professional, and nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you everyone you truly are an amazing team. You've pulled Sasha through on more than one occasion.
Very disappointing experience.
Vets4Pets Charlton failed to tell me about the fee before the claim was submitted.
I specifically discussed the insurance claim process with staff, paid all consultation and treatment fees in full (Transaction No: 941746VR), and submitted a Petplan claim based on the information provided by the practice.
Only after the claim had been submitted was I informed that an additional £15 insurance administration fee would be charged.
When I challenged this, the practice admitted that I had not been informed beforehand. The practice owner later explained why the fee exists, but did not explain why it was not disclosed before the service was carried out.
Had I known about the fee in advance, I would have expected the opportunity to decide whether to proceed.
The issue is not the amount. The issue is transparency.
Customers should be clearly informed about any additional charges before they commit to a service, especially when they have specifically asked about the process.
Very disappointing experience.
Take note!!
I’ve used these Vets for a few years but now taking my custom elsewhere as last week I had to take my sick cat, There was nowhere to park so because it wasn’t within two white lines got £100 fine
Holly - V4P Littlemoor
We have been visiting Vets4Pets Littlemoor recently with our dog who has just turned 13 years old. We’ve never been a fan of the vets, dog & owners alike. But Holly has been the most incredible vet, giving our dog so much love and us so much reassurance throughout this difficult journey we are currently facing. Huge thank you to Holly, you don’t know how much of a difference you’ve made to us!
Poor customer service
We visited vets for pet - romford a few days ago because our cat had an eye infection and could not open his right eye. Our appointment was around midnight, and we completely understand that the staff were busy and that emergencies can affect waiting times.
However, while we were waiting, one client was seen after us, and then another client arrived and was also attended to. After waiting for over 1½ hours, our cat had still not been seen, and no one provided us with any update or explanation about the delay.
We appreciate that veterinary clinics can be very busy, especially during out-of-hours appointments, but a simple update on the waiting time would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, due to the lack of communication and poor customer service, we decided to take our cat home instead.
We hope the clinic can improve communication with waiting clients in the future.
