Unfortunately, I was sold a faulty car. Reported excessive oil usage after 4 months of having the car. They took it back straight away, and in terms of customer service, I couldn't fault them. However, they had my car for 4 months (I did have a courtesy car) and decided the issue had 'righted itself' after driving it for 1200 miles. I trusted them, and took the car back, 3 months later, and several top ups of oil, I decided the car was still not right. I had the car independently checked by a certified MOT tester and it failed the emissions test, and was advised the catalytic converter is failing due to excessive oil consumption (this should be covered in the warranty according to the small print). Vospers plymouth took it back again, and drive it for an hour or so, and decided it was fine. The sales and service team in the ford part were lovely, and did try to help, but the sales managers would not accept the car was faulty and said there was nothing more they could do, even though, just a week before this, they were searching for a replacement vehicle for me due to me not being happy with this one. I took out a loan to pay for this car, and unfortunately, will be spending some time paying this off, and driving a faulty car that will not pass its MOT next month. Would not recommend!

This place has really gone down hill. The products have been good but the way staff are treated is not good. I recently visited the Plymouth branch and was shocked to hear how management spoke to staff

Another terrible experience from the service department, i booked in for my car first MOT four/five weeks in advance and asked for a courtesy car and was all good and agreed when booked with Lauren, but on the day of the MOT when i handed my keys over it came apparent no courtesy car would be available and i had an conformation email to say there would be, but the desk staff said no car was ever booked, either way I wasn't getting a courtesy car full stop. This has happened twice now in a row to me at this dealership, the first time was for a service, so now I know not to use Vospers Vauxhall again for service or future car sales. The good news was that i made a phone call before i left to another main franchise dealership in the Plymouth area and they were happy to accommodate me at very very short notice, I won't forget that.

Spent over ten days attempting to contact FIAT servicing dept by telephone at least three times a day, after my car completely died due an update error, draining the battery leaving me no alternative in calling The RAC .............. etc, etc......
AFTER WAITING FIVE AND A HALF HOURS IN VOSPERS I'VE BEEN INFORMED THEY ARE UNABLE TO CORRECT IT TODAY , NEED TO REBOOK, I MAY NEED TO GO TO EXETER AS VOSPERS IS NO LONGER A FIAT DEALER......... ARGHHHH
Politely suggested this important information should be shared with customers on-line 🥺

Just a quick note to say Sasha in Vauxhall Plymouth made the whole buying a car experience a breeze. Nothing was too much trouble for him, and even his after sales was above and beyond.

Myself and my husband had an appointment with Neil. When we arrived Neil was with another customer so a really lovely young woman called Maya came over to us and asked if she could help.
Maya showed us the car we were interested in and took us both through the controls, what the car was like to drive etc. The service we received from Maya was exceptional and we felt throughly looked after.
Neil finished with the other customer and came to see us and apologised profusely for not being available when we arrived. We discussed what we wanted and Neil sorted out some figures.
Maya then sorted out the finalising of the sale.
All I can say is I highly recommend the Vauxhall part of Vospers.

Daniel Kayes at Vospers Plymouth made buying my van easy, no stress and quick. Was able to contact a company to fit a roof rack before I picked the van up and made sure everything was clean. Kept in contact regularly to ensure I was happy and kept in the loop about the finance etc side of things.
Highly recommend.

I was unsure about how difficult it would be to change my car. However, after discussing the procedure and my options with Kieran Thomas, sales executive, I felt more confident. He was very professional explain all the details. He did not push and allowed my time for consideration. I as very pleased with my choice off car and the aftercare I recieved

I purchased a Mazda MX-5 from Vospers, only to experience a complete gearbox failure at just 11,000 miles. This is not an isolated incident — numerous reports from owners (see the MX-5 Owners Club forums) document similar failures, yet both Vospers and Mazda UK have denied any knowledge of this being a known issue.
The vehicle was returned for repair, and while Mazda replaced the gearbox, it was later found to be faulty again. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they claimed it was the result of user error — a position that lacked any technical basis.
Following advice from Citizens Advice, I exercised my legal right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which protects buyers where faults are present from the point of sale.
Unfortunately, I was met with resistance. Ed Ainsley, Business Manager at Vospers, stated that I had no legal right to reject the car — a claim that directly contradicts well-established UK consumer protection law.
To support my case, I commissioned an independent expert report under Civil Procedure Rule 35, which confirmed the gearbox fault existed at the point of purchase.
As a result, I have now:
• Voluntarily terminated the finance agreement, and
• Initiated legal proceedings against the finance company and relevant parties.
If you are experiencing a similar issue, know this: you are legally entitled to reject a faulty vehicle, regardless of its age, if the fault can be shown to have existed at the time of sale. Don’t be misled or pressured — stand your ground and seek independent legal or technical advice if needed.
Vospers’ handling of this issue has been deeply disappointing — both in terms of technical support and respect for consumer rights.

Chris was very polite, knowledgable and professional about our needs in a vehicle. He spent a lot of time showing us comparisons in vehicles and helping us choose the right one for our lifestyle. We can only thank him for being so helpful. Well Done Vospers and Chris

Sasha Martindale was really helpful and didn’t push to get a sale. We tested several cars before deciding on the best model for us. Sasha then found the same model, spec and year at their Truro location at a cheaper price. He arranged for it to be delivered to Plymouth for a test drive with no pressure. He was polite patient and courteous making the whole process stress free. Would use Vospers again in future.
Well his is a update to the last review that the staff just did not care and this proves a point far been waiting for a part over a month and then the car goes in to be returned with no explanation or call from Vospers I then called to ask what had been done to be told we don’t know but the engineer will call but he did not I called 3 times next day to be told he will call when he gets a chance so in the meantime I don’t know what has happened to car and all the features don’t work on car as it’s asking to be setup again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VOSPERS
It all started back in February when I bought my used car, Vauxhall Crossland from Vospers Plymouth.
I had been experiencing a few electrical problems after having the car only 4 weeks.
It was a sensor issue to do with the engine oil. I was told to bring the car in so they could look at it, at this point the customers services was great and prompt. Unfortunately the car was in for the day and I was informed it had been fixed. True to their word everything seemed to be OK, for a week then the fault warning light for the oil came on again. Again the car went in to be fixed, this happened 4 times in all. The last time they finally resolved the problem. However when I brought it in to be rectified I also mentioned that there was a grating sound coming from the rear of the car when braking. I requested they look into this for me. When I collected the car I was informed they looked into the rear brake issue and couldn't find anything wrong and told me the brake pads are made from a different compound and can sometime cause that noise, I thought really I'm not a mechanic but I must admit I didn't believe them, however they sent me away informing me not to worry. The issue I have is the noise came back a few weeks later, worse. I contacted customer services who informed me they wouldn't be able to look at it for 4 days, I was very concerned that if I continued to drive the car I would do more damage plus it wasn't save. I was desperate for someone to check the car just to let me know it was save to drive and I wasn't breaching my warranty. So I contacted sales department to see if I could bring the car in for them to listen to the noise. Sasha asked me to bring it in straight away, which I did. I parked the car in a customer service bay outside the sales department where I was met by Sasha. He got into the car and as I set off he immediately told me to stop. We went to see the service desk and he assisted me in getting my car in to be checked as it wasn't safe to drive as I previous informed. I left the car with them to check. They informed me later that afternoon that the brakes were worn and now had damaged the discs and it was going to cost me £450.00. I was a little bit upset to say the least. I mentioned they were told about the problem and the machinic couldn't have stripped the brakes down the first time it came in when they fobbed me off with the makeup of the brake pads was causing the noise. After the discussion with the service department I was informed as a good will gesture they would only charge me £350. I wasn't happy having to pay this amount as I believe if they would have looked at the car fully when asked it would have meant the brake disc would not have been damaged. As a good will gesture from me I said about meeting me half way, but this was declined by Vospers and in the end I paid the £350.
Totally not satisfied
When buying the car I also took on a 3 year warranty & Service package paying £26 per month. I did this for piece of mind but I'm wondering if this will come back to haunt me.
