Two intense days doing REC3. I now feel much more confident

I did the REC3 to learn the basics for my role as a Scout Leader. Previously I have been in two high stress situations where I didn't know how to help someone who needed assistance, this course was reccommended to me from a previous participant. I never expected to learn so much in the 2 days. Pauls ability to educate is fun and dynamic – he kept switching up the delivery of the course content and on completion we were working effectively as a team to assess and respond to a variety of scenarios. I went from "I don't know what to do" to "I know the basics well enough to confidently respond and hand over to emergency services". If you're looking for a course in Remote Emergency Care this one really delivers.

This course was very practical and delivered in a clear interesting way. We got to practice what we were being taught. It was enjoyable and fun as well as instructive. A mix of interesting people with various reasons for being there. I particularly enjoyed the Role Play and different scenarios. Great venue. Thank you.

Really enjoyable few days delivered in a friendly and well paced way with plenty of variety of inside and outside training to mix up the days. Great bunch of people to learn with! I was doing this for my MSA for SARDA Search and Rescue but it is a great life skill to have for anyone in the outdoors.

I recently completed the REC 1 First Aid course with Paul Nolan, it exceeded my expectations. Paul was approachable, professional, and highly knowledgeable, delivering engaging and effective training.

The course was practical, interactive, and really well structured. Paul explained concepts clearly, used real-world outdoor first aid scenarios, and encouraged group participation through hands-on exercises. I gained valuable skills in patient assessment, CPR, bleeding control, and responding to common medical emergencies.

What stood out most was Paul’s ability to keep the group engaged while ensuring everyone developed a strong understanding of key first aid principles. His instruction built the confidence needed to assess situations quickly and respond effectively in real-life emergencies.

I attended the Rec1 Remote Emergency Care Course yesterday in the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue base Co Wicklow ,was a very enjoyable day learning new skills about safety, also the instructor Paul was very patient & knowledgeable teaching & answering questions. Would highly recommend. 10/10

10 of us met in the woods outside Tinahely, course started at 9.30 and and lasted till 4.00, we were v lucky had a lovely dry day.
Paul has huge experience in mountain trekking and has a natural talent for passing it on. He kept everything very simple with loads of practical ideas , the whole thing was very immersive which makes everything so much easier to remember and understand.
Would have no hesitation in recommending Paul , has a lovely gentle manner about him …../
