Don't bother with their "ready to fruit" range as thats a total lie.
If you want some silver birch saplings then great, order them as thats about the only thing they're good for selling.
Do not bother with anything else, at best, itll survive and fruit God only knows when, but most likely you're going to pay a large price for a dead stick. Customer service is non existent.

Yeah should have read reviews before…

Yeah should have read reviews before buying.

Entered delivery details on website. Royal mail returned to sender as my door number was not included.

To be fair they did communicate in a timely manner, but I asked for it to be re sent and they, replied saying they would refund me minus the postage.

I went through PayPal who refunded immediately, which shows they are having a lot of issues.

Just go to Amazon or anywhere else.

Avoid!

Bought 100x Hornbeam bareroot a few months ago. Seemed like great value at the time. I needed 300 so thankfully in retrospect 3fatpigs only had 100, which I bought.

They arrived wrapped in cling film struggling to breathe. Very poor root structure. No leaves. Very unhealthy looking.

I lived in hope.

Planted trees and have cared well for them for a number of months. Unfortunately they still resemble a series of sticks poking out of the ground. Very unhealthy and most are dead … no green shoots. I’d say a maximum of 10 of these trees have survived.

I won’t be making any more purchases from this garden centre. I will have to go elsewhere to replace the twigs sticking out of my lawn.

I wish I had of come to this website first as it seems my experience isn’t unique.

The dead plum tree

Bought a bare rooted dwarf plum tree last autumn. Planted as per instructions, no sign of growth has ever been seen. Contacted 3fatpigs in April, told to wait until end of May. Sceptical, as other fruit trees in the allotment were well in flower by then. Sure enough, the tree is dead and when we went back to them we were told, as others, that trees are perishable items. Customer service terrible and then they just stop answering emails.

Update: they sent a link about someone who was sued by a law firm after a poor Trustpilot review!

Here's a FOC business tip: threatening your customers after poor reviews is just the pits and is not going to shift you from a 1.6* rating.....

Dead on Arrival

Japanese Amanogawa Pink Flowering Cherry 4-5ft,Upright Growing.Prunus Serrulata

We ordered the above barefooted in February and planted as per the guidance. The tree showed no signs of growth and a scrape test in May/June indicated it was dead. Beechwood were contacted and asked for a replacement or a refund both of which were refused. They said and I quote:-
'Trees are perishable items, and we are not able to replace or refund the tree'.

Wrong plant sent refused to send correct one!!!

I ordered a 3ft Barnsley baby shrub for £15 because of its small size but when it started flowering and growing taller and taller I realised they’d sent me the wrong shrub. They point blank refused to send me the correct shrub saying I was sending them pictures of one of my other shrubs!!! It is now in a small pot and about 7ft tall it’s huge!!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROUDUCTS! …

I have ordered from them many times but for my most recent fruit tree order I decided to spend more and get bigger trees. I ordered 4 fruit trees as dormant bare root. I specifically ordered trees to plant in poly tunnel as I live at 59º N. Two of them are doing fabulous in the tunnel beds but two never broke dormancy even though all treated same way. I was concerned when these arrived as they had very few to no smaller feeder roots. I sent pistures of the trees to BW and was told they would refund or replace those two. But a few days later they said they were supposed to be outside so no refund! I asked for suggestions before ordering for poly tunnel variety recommendations. SHAME ON THEM! They sent me poor trees that didnt stand a chance to start with. AM TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE

Would never purchase from again

Bought two trees earlier this year, spent the last two months looking after them water them etc. One tree is growing leaves but the other one never developed any buds and now appears to be a dead twig. Contacted customer service, I was told “ trees are perishable items, they don’t live forever “. Trees I bought from elsewhere are all thriving in my garden apart from this one. Product is poor but the customer service really couldn’t care less. What a waste of my money and time. Would never buy from again. Wish I read other customers reviews here prior to purchasing from them.

Wrong item sent - totally ignored

Ordered a bare root Lirodendron Tulipifera. What broke dormancy was a Japanese Acer. Contacted 3fatpigs 4 times by email but have been completely ignored each time - probably preferred rather than getting a load of abuse back like many others have noted. Have ordered many trees from them previously and not had any issues until now. Lesson learned, will never use again.

Poor quality goods and even poorer customer service so AVOID!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE!!!! This is a truly TERRIBLE company to deal with. Ordered bare root plants that arrived very dry. Out of the 10 plants that arrived only 7 appear healthy at all, with many bare and dead branches. 2 are certainly dead, whilst 1 has a tiny amount of leaf growth and all will require drastic cutting to get rid of dead branches. The first reply to my email detailing my concern at how poor the condition of the plants were in resulted in a response asking me to wait till end of April to see if growth appeared. My emails sent since have garnered no such reply.
Please avoid this company.
YOU HAVE ZERO CHANCE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IF ANYTHING IS WRONG!!!!!!!!
Nil stars is more accurate though no option to give that!!!!!!

Read Reviews Before Buying

I would give no stars for this company if I could. I bought a tree from their ebay shop, bare rooted. I am a very keen gardener of 40 years and know how to look after plants. It was planted with care in February and three months later by the end of May had no signs of life. I contacted the company in March and April who said some plants take until the end of May to come out of dormancy. Although this is often the case with various plants my two other Betula trees planted at a similar time were in full leaf.
The company refused to refund the item and, all too late for me, I realised from reading the reviews that this is very common with this company. Please look at the reviews before you buy from these people and preferably BUY FROM SOMEONE MORE REPUTABLE.

Avoid

Bare root plants were already growing when they arrived and as a result did not establish. This was raised with the seller who was dismissive of the claim. Subsequent contact has been ignored. There appears to be a recurring theme in the feedback of a seller operating by mail order and sending out poor quality plants and then ignoring complaints.
Waste of money, my recommendation would be to look elsewhere or better still support your local garden centre and at least that way you can see what you’re buying!

Do not buy from this company

Awful company to deal with. Bought 3 nettle plants through this company via a popular auction site and they arrived dying/dead. After I complained, the site sent the usual notification to post back to the seller so l messaged the seller 4 times asking if they wanted me to post back dead plants as it seemed a waste of their postage and my time. They never responded so l ended up posting the dead plants back. They then tried to claim I had posted back empty pots when you could see the dead plants in their photo. They tried to send me a partial refund but I raised a case with the site and provided my images and videos of the dead plants they sent, and me packaging them up to post back. The site immediately refunded me the rest in full (not the seller).

Horrendous company AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Horrendous company - avoid at all costs. Supplied what was supposed to be a plum tree (actually just a twig with a couple of dead branches), badly wrapped in just cling film with no other protection. The tree was planted immediately in the hope of saving it but was clearly dead. Customer service non-existent, fobbed me off continually saying it was dormant and I needed to wait. After 2 months of emails back and forth, and after supplying photos of the bark scrape they requested, proving that the tree was in fact dead, they then refused to answer emails or provide a refund and we are having to go via the bank to get a chargeback against them as per consumer laws. As they are based in Northern Ireland I think they believe they are above the law. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

They can't tell an apple from a greengage.

I ordered a greengage tree. They supplied an unnamed apple. Then they swore it was a greengage despite photos to the contrary.. When the leaves and blossom emerged it was clear it was an apple. I invoked a PayPal dispute and they offered a refund if I sent the apple back, but declined to pay the carriage. I.E. in effect hardly any refund.

Speak as you find

I ordered 125 40-60cm bare rooted cherry laurel plants at the beginning of February 2024, they arrived at the beginning of March, all were very healthy but weather was too wet to plant immediately. We made sure all plant roots were covered in a layer of soil and planted most by the end of March and potted up the rest. We only lost one out of 125 and I think it got water logged.
Quick service and very pleased with the product and happy to say we now have a nice 4ft hedge.
