500px so broken it's unusable and appaling customer service
I upgraded to an Awesome account on 500px after I had enjoyed browsing photography on the site. It took me a while to get round to attempting to upload any images of my own.
When I did attempt to upload images I found that the upload functionality is so unreliable that attempting to upload more than 3 images at once almost always results in some images failing to upload. In one instance attempting to upload 20 images in one go resulted in 17 failures. It took me around 1 hour to upload 70 images. Uploading images should be straight forward and easy - it's a breeze with Flickr.
After uploading my images I realised that reordering he images in a gallery does not work. Some images simply refuse to be reordered by dragging and dropping - the only available mechanism - no matter how many times this is attempted.
I raised these issues with 500px support. They state they will respond within 2 days but after 4 days still no response. I then looked into Flickr instead and the user experience is far better - so much better that a comparison is meaningless. It would be like comparing eating excrement to a fine dining experience.
I decided to ask for my money back. At this point it had been 32 days since I upgraded my account as it had taken me a while to get round to using it. I received just a short response saying that I was over the 30 day grace period with absolutely no mentioned of the issues which I had been experiencing. Clearly they do not care about the quality of the product they are offering and the customer service. Avoid at all costs.
Unstable system and biased scoring
The 500px system is too buggy and there are many times that messed up your home feed, and worse, the performance is so unstable and slow it is sometimes unusable. Besides all these problems, 500px developed a crooked scoring pulse system that claimed self-proprietary, giving other people higher 'pulse' scores for less than 1/3rd of my Likes/Viewers/Comments, and lower quality mediocre photos. I have some great photos to share with the community and after posting these photos, I will quit 500px. It is one of the most terrible photo sharing websites I have ever seen!
Was paid 0,07 USD for a photo announced…
Was paid 0,07 USD for a photo announced for 50 USD at a so-called third-party provider's platform. It is a shame! They do not present information on sold value, so it looks that there is a hidden scheme for cheating the photographers. I removed all my photos from licensing, however they will stay next 180 days on the web ready for selling. I can accept the technical issues they recently had, but cheating I can't.
Here what 500 px told me:
"With Distribution sales an additional party is added to the equation, so it’s important to keep in mind the gross sale amount is split 3 ways, as opposed to direct sales through the Marketplace that only involve two parties.
There's also sometimes a difference between a list price and the actual sale price. Our distribution partners (Getty, VCG) work with key accounts and high value clients that at times may request large volumes of images. Our partners may negotiate a discount and other times may offer promotional pricing to incentivize these clients. Being flexible with pricing gives distribution partners leeway to entice more clients to do business with them."
The site is being flooded with…
The site is being flooded with advertisements and recently a lot of advertising for elicit drugs and services have exploded.
500px ripoff.
500px ripoff.
Recently I had several photo sales on the Getty distributions agent for 500px for amounts as low as $US 0.07. Getty sells the photos for $US 50.00 and up, for a profit of over 99%. This is insulting to me as a photographer and I will no longer submit anything to 500px for licensing. Shame 500px!
This is what they told me.

I was paid $0.04 for selling a photograph!
I was paid a total of $0.04 for selling a professional photograph through their website when I was promised much more! Closed my account immediately! My time is worth much more to me than this! Total frauds!
Unusable
Unusable. You follow certain people because you want to see their work, photos, etc. Yet the site keeps spamming your feed with random "suggested" photos, posts. Used to be an OK site, but now it's just spam all over.
Truly horrendous customer service
Paid for the service as soon as I found it. Initially I was posting some of my mom's old photos so my relatives who aren't on Facebook could see them (mom passed away last year). Once I figured it out, I started posting some different images.
However, I tried to post some scans of vintage "nudie" playing cards in a private gallery so I could share them with a small group of friends.
I was immediately banned. No warning. Just banned. Terrible customer service policy. They can keep my money and I hope they choke on it.
Testing Squarespace now.
For a website that has so many…
For a website that has so many photographers on it, this is the pits. Nothing works for any length of time, that is until, the amercas come online. It appears to be run from Canada. I don't think they know what they are doing. Invariably the message, "Bad Gateway" or "Something has gone wrong" pops up on screen.
I don't know who owns it, but they need to do something about it.
I had to close one account as they wouldn't let me log back in to it.
At present I am using it again, on a free basis. If it comes to money I will withdraw, I will not pay them anything.
I mainly use the site for viewing pictures and some interaction with other photographers. It is a shame but it already has a bad name around the world in the photographic community!
Sold its soul to the devil
Sold its soul to the devil. This used to be a great photography site featuring some of the best of the best. I set my goals based on some of the photographs on 500px. But as happens all the time in this sad world... it became all about generating money, short-termism and it forgot its origins. Very suspect peer judging system... why, after I have been absent for so long, would someone with a few photos of his family and a garage, decide to like 50 of my images immediately? And he must have great eyesight as we whipped through them in minutes. Ditto someone else with a similarly 'thin' portfolio. A cynic would say there is an algorithm in there which alerts 500px to take quick and flattering action where a returner arrives. The images now are very average on there... unless you really hunt around for known names. Off I go again then to look for another organisation ((Vevo been mentioned) that may have some integrity and really care more about photography and service and customer satisfaction above money. They will be the ones who will keep their customers as the competition grows. 500 px you have become a subscription fisher.
It was a top website but recently they…
It was a top website but recently they seem to have altered the algorithms and it has become painful.
This site sucks.
This site sucks.. Too many problems to list. Keep your money in your pocket.. Totally arrogant with no customer service.
Look for another site
Unless you want to pay for a membership, you’re limited to uploading a maximum of 7 photos a WEEK. That’s just ridiculous. Probably just gonna go back to Flickr
Used to love this sight
Used to love this sight. However, over the past few months it is constantly unveiwable with photos not loading. Costumer service rarely responds without a generic answer. Also, the licensed photos submitting process in extremely inconsistent. It used to be a rather quick process, but now my submitted photos have been hung up in "waiting for approval" for over a month. If they ever clear this up, it could go back to being a rather great photo sharing site.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Ultimate runaround.
Absolutely awful site
No integrity; chasing money and uncontactable for service. Have been a loyal client for years when 500px was busy wooing customers. But this is another organisation that becomes arrogant when it gets to a certain size and sod the customer. All about sales and no service. If you have a problem, there is NOWHERE to get it sorted... no phone number, no chat line - just a customer blog (that passes the work over to the customer thus saving 500 px money while they put our prices up). The very worst of service that I have come across in a long time. Rest assured, I will warn everyone off you; I will use other sites and, as soon as there is lots of competition out there, I will be delighted as you lose business. Exploitation of customers at it's very worst. Integrity nil. You should be ashamed of yourselves 500 px. I don't know how you sleep at night. (And remember, this is what the finance houses did... and look what happened to them. You need to look at the long term). If you read this review and do the right thing and apologise and up your game, I will write another review but I am not holding my breaht.

Support is rude and aggressive
Support is rude and aggressive, No payments for the sold photos, collecting personal data for no reason. After complaint about non payment my account has been terminated, it simply means that my pictures has been stolen and being used for commercial purposes. So be carefull with this “fancy scam”
