horrible

horrible! never book a car from here! they gave us a car that had all the tires damaged (we did not check). one of the tires exploded and we had to pay 1000 euros, even if it was not our fault

Smartcar ride Madeira

Easy booking via www. Friendly staff, and a Voucher for a Boat trip for free. The vehicle was as expected and in good shape. All in all a good experience.

Bad communication and poore condition of the car park

The communication about how we get from the airport to the spot for the car pic-up was not clear. We were waiting near the exit between vodafone and coffee shopo for someone to contact us. We were not alone, some people waited for 1 hour until they comprehend that we should be seeking 7M van in front of the exit. The second thing was that the rear brakes of the car were destroyed and we had to ask for a car removal after 3 days. The car park is not maintained properly and it could be a safety problem for the tourists in Madeira‘s demanding roads.

Great experience

The car given was exactly what was booked. Process to get the car easy and smooth. Car was given very clean. I have selected for their full insurance which is great as I did not have to put down a deposit and I was covered for mostly every sort of damage. I would definitely recommend and use again in the future.

The rented car was not in good…

The rented car was not in good condition, especially the weaker brakes were a problem on the trips around Madeira. Furthermore, the antenna was missing, so the radio did not work, etc.

7M..... Please Please Please avoid this Company!!!!

We are currently on our holiday in Madeira. The Country and it's people are lovely and would highly recommend visiting here. HOWEVER, I would highly recommend that you find any other car rental companies other than 7M!! This morning we were up early to head out on a hike and found that we had a flat back tire. Yes this can happen at any time and should not be a problem. I went to change the tire and put on the spare and was prepared to get the tire fixed myself after our hike. This, however was not possible as there was no wheel brace in the car to undo the wheel nuts. It specifically says in their contract that all normal tools will be supplied. This is a normal tool to change a tire. We rang 24 hrs assistance as it was before 9am and he said not to ring him but to ring customer care which didn't open until 9am. We rang several times after 9am and could not get an answer. When we eventually got through we explained that we just had a flat tire but they had not supplied a wheel brace. From 9am we had sent WhatsApp videos and pictures having to explain our situation. They eventually said that someone would be up to us. We presumed that it would be someone with a wheel brace or a new tire and just switch over the flat one. At 11am we got a call to say there would be someone with us in an hour. At 12pm a TOW TRUCK arrived and the driver who was lovely to us, informed us that our car and us would have to be transported to Funchal, 1 hour away from our hotel, to get the car repaired. He understood it was silly but that is what he was told to do. So we loaded up the car and ourselves to the 7M garage in Funchal. Arriving at 1pm we were told that they were on lunch until 2pm so we went and had lunch. We arrived back at 2pm and the mechanic, who was also lovely, said that the "puncture repair" was done and that we owed 7M €240 for the tow and the tire repair. We argued for over an hour with several offices on the phone that we did not need a tow and that they had not supplied the wheel brace with their car. We eventually had to pay €130 for a puncture repair. We also asked when leaving could we get a wheel brace and they said no!. We drove the hour back to the hotel as the whole day was wasted to fine that the tire was going down again and the repair had not worked!!!!!! We immediately rang customer service again and they wanted us to drive back down to Funchal tomorrow morning again to get it repaired. We said how can we do that on a flat tire and we paid €130 and wasted a day of our holiday on a simple repair which was not done properly and still didn't get a wheel brace. We have asked for a refund for the tire that was not properly repaired and we asked for someone to come and change our wheel tomorrow morning or a replacement car as we are not wasting 2 days of our holidays over this. So watch this space for an update!!!
To finish, I would SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND ANY OTHER COMPANIES OTHER THAN 7M.

Good service

Good service. Nice car and bonus of one ticket to go on a whale and dolphin boat tour. Our boat trip was essentially half price. Thanks so much x

Worst customer service, fake repair bills, stay away.

The Smart Car we rented was had an issue (driver side wing mirror cover was missing, though no other damage was apparent) while we were parked in an underground lot on Madeira. When I returned the car, the agent said I owed 585.00 Euro for the repair. I would be able to claim it on my credit car insurance when 7M sent the repair invoice. They didn't I texted 7M customer service and they said it would be a could be a couple of days. They didn't I supply the documents, so I emailed 7M customer service, no response. Contacted them a third time, still no response. The rental was April and 7M still hasn't sent the paper work by July. From what I can tell I paid for repairs that were not done. Visa said that can't reimburse without the repair work invoice and the finalized rental agreement. Both which 7M will not provide. Save your money and have a good holiday and rent a car AT the airport not from 7M. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Nice service at the point

Nice service at the point. A small minus for a car with half a tank of fuel and a burnt headlight bulb. When returning it, it's hard to find the same tank level.
Apart from that, the car was roadworthy.

Booked a Fiat 124 Spider, received a lesser replacement and not offered discount

Booked for pick-up at 1pm but they were closed from 1-2pm! Booked and prepaid for a Fiat 124 Spider, was told clutch was broken when we went to pick it up. After much discussion and calls by staff to the owner/manager, were given a Fiat 500 'Sport' but not offered any discount despite this being a much cheaper car per day normally. Were only offer a 10% discount on insurance from the owner. Would have asked for a full refund and gotten a car elsewhere if it wasn't for the fact it was already 3:30 in the afternoon by the time this got sorted and we wanted to get to our next hotel (60 minutes away). The staff member was friendly and helpful but unable to take any decisions without calling his boss, he was also on his own meaning long waits in line for us and the people behind us.
