What an absolute find!

What an absolute find! Gutted we only stayed one night as this hotel is beautiful!
We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked into reception. We were told we had been given an upgrade as the hotel was fairly quite, which was a lovely surprise! Our room was 10 minutes from being ready which was great because we had a drink at the bar whilst we waited, we were a bit early so this gave us a good excuse to relax, we say outside and watched the afternoon life in Bath (and made friends with the locals!)
When we got to our room we were so impressed. It was a beautiful room with an enormous bathroom, the décor had so much character and it was spotlessly clean. It was so spacious, the perfect temperature and excellent facilities. We slept so well!
Breakfast was fantastic, we both had a full English and had probably the best bacon I've tasted in a while! There was so much on offer, continental, cereals, yogurt, toast and a wide variety on the hot breakfast list too. Absolutely delicious!
The reception staff, bar staff and breakfast staff were lovely, very attentive and polite. I will 100% be recommending The Abbey to everyone, thank you for a lovely experience!

Have a virgin experience voucher

Have a virgin experience voucher, after extended the voucher and speaking to someone on the booking line re availability, was advised dates where available. I wanted to check a few other so advised to go straight to the hotel which I did. Upon doing so, the hotel stated they don’t allow vouchers during Christmas market time. No where does it say this and now wasted money extending the voucher and can’t be used for what it was purchased for. Extremely disappointed as it was a gift from our children. No explaining just can’t use it. Nothing in the t&cs

We recently got married in Bath and…

We recently got married in Bath and held our wedding reception at the Abbey Hotel.

Event Organiser
Our event organiser was fantastic, but sadly left a few weeks before our wedding day. This made us nervous, but we needn't have been. The handover was handed over very efficiently and everything went like clockwork.
The whole hotel was very accommodating regarding our various wishes - including a macaron tower as a wedding cake, which was a first for them.

The Food
We were allowed a wedding tasting session, where we tasted the wedding meal. Every dish was fantastic, and we got to meet the chef and talk about the food. The food on the day was as good as expected - everyone loved their meals.
The waiters and waitresses were clearly well trained and made it feel like a high-quality event.

The hotel rooms
Our guests also stayed in the hotel rooms. This was perfect, as it meant that we didn't have far to travel at the end of the wedding day! There were some lovely and thoughtful touches and they went the extra mile. This was hugely appreciated.

The reception rooms
The hotel offered various options, from a lovely room where we had our wedding meal, to somewhere completely different for the evening entertainment. In both cases, the staff were extremely helpful.

All the staff
From our first visit to bath to find the reception venue, to all of the emails, phone calls and visits before the big day - the staff were fantastic and extremely professional.
And on the day, what a great job everyone did. Thank you - we will remember our day forever.

Never has a 5-star review been more richly deserved by such a good team of people. Thank you

Don't stay here

Very small room (106) with just a frosted window out to a wall and air conditioning ducts. The pillows were cheap foam and the remote control for the massive TV were missing. This room should not even be a room IMO. Severely overpriced.

The breakfast was a shambles with poorly-trained staff giving service to tables in the wrong order. Orders were mixed up with other tables and items were missing from the plate. The food looked unappetising and hastily plated.

This hotel needs new management and a new chef. Also a price system that reflects that some rooms may be inferior. We voiced our concerns with the front desk but given that we were told that it was a case of ‘supply and demand’, I doubt that anything will change so this review is to deter prospective visitors.

The cleaner is a thief.

My wife and I stayed at the Abbey Hotel on March 25th, celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Having gone out waking around in the day time, we returned around 5pm to check in to the hotel. This was the last time I wore my RayBan sunglasses.

I forgot to pack the sunglasses when checking out the following morning.

I can guarantee the sunglasses were left in the hotel room when we checked out.

However when notifying the hotel later that afternoon, the sunglasses were nowhere to be found. So either they walked themselves out of the hotel room, or the cleaner who cleaned our room after we checked out, decided to keep them for himself.

Leaving a negative review really is a last resort; as both my wife and I are getting nowhere by complaining to the hotel via email.

The sunglasses cost me £165. And they've been stolen by the Hotel staff.

Do not stay here.

Anniversary weekend

Scammed! booked through Hotels.com where the property is called Wroxhall Abbey Hotel and Spa, the Spa no longer exists, when we contacted hotel prior they wouldn’t offer a refund as they advised closure is stated within small print.
Hotel is shabby, needs a lick of paint, windows need to be cleaned, terrace area in need of jet wash and weeding, broken bathroom door handle, main electrical/isolation box within the 27 acre grounds open & broken not demarcated off. Some staff’s demeanour was rude and clipped. waited 1hr for starter until told by management restaurant was closed, at least 25 guests had to find food else where, we spent £40 on Ubers and thankfully found somewhere, police in reception on our return, spoke with the couple who owned/ran the hotel, their immediate response was we can’t get the staff, they call in sick, no apology given. The impression we got was they undervalued and treated their staff poorly as with their paying customers. It’s such a shame as it’s a beautiful building with amazing grounds. They don’t let you put any drinks on your room which was strange. Positives- room was small but nice, new furniture throughout room, nice log fires in bar area and restaurant, ONLY USE THIS HOTEL AS LAST RESORT.

Great location but disappointing room

Great location and very good breakfast but the room was no bigger than a broom cupboard (not enough space for a chair or table) and there was a generator immediately outside the window that was operating all night long.

Loved this hotel

Loved this hotel. Friendly staff, great food, room was clean, modern with tea, coffee and biscuits. Booked with Hotels.com which said extra £10 for dog but hotel asked for £15. Without hesitation they said fine with £10 but it had gone up and Hotels.com had to update their website. Supplied dog bowl and dog bed. Great location. Supplied umbrellas as it was raining. Will definitely return with my tourist friends. Such a treat to be so welcomed. Thank you Abbey hotel
