Ableworld are the largest mobility retailer in the country and believe this is because we genuinely care about our customer’s well-being. We employ professional, caring and knowledgeable staff to work in our stores, and provide quality mobility aids at value for money prices.
We pride ourselves on being an ethical trader who will not pressure sell items and if we feel a product should have an assessment we will not sell these online, as we want to ensure our customers that they are getting the right product for their needs, not just the most expensive mobility aid.
Our stores stock all types of mobility aids, including Mobility Scooters, Walkers, Powerchairs, Bathing Aids and Stairlifts. You can be assured that in all of our stores we provide the same caring approach to looking after our customers, and the same range of quality mobility aids.

Just over three years ago as both my wife and I were in our early 80s and especially we had no toilet facilities down stairs we needed a stairlift.
On being advised by Ableworld we purchased on the advise of Ableworld the Handicam Stair lift which was on display in the store.
We had a lot of problems which had to be sorted out but the main one was having to replacement batteries at a cost of £55 every two months.not covered by our agreement.
We were told that it should never had been sold to us because in the book it recommends no more use than ten times a day and not meant for that type of use. When you buy a lift as you get older it is going to be used more thats why you buy it.
But more of stairlifts later
Last year I bought a quality scooter at a cost of £999 after seeing it demonstrated and easy way to assemble he swung it up in the air by the handle swinging the motor unit in position. (not recommended)
Taking it home and charging it up the next day Saturday leaving the carpark opposite the shop I found it quickly lost charge. Going into the shop I was told they needed both the charger and scooter as there could be a fault.
On the monday I found it would not connect properly and they then found the battery contacts had been damaged. I was told by another engineer what he had done swinging it to can only have caused the damage.
New Parts had to be ordered and fourteen days later and only 5 hours use I was told I could collect.
When asked if they had checked the battery and charger it had not been done and I refused to accept it and then got a full refund.
Now back to the Stair lift I have recently bought a new one to replace the other fouir year old one, as recommended by the engineer.
After being measured for it I have found that my feet dont rest on the footplate and if I lean forward when I try to get off the heals of my legs slide off and pitch me forward onto the floor,
I have complained about this all within the 30 days, and as there is no room for adjustment. He had a footrest swivel unit he took out of a faulty lift which would fit and be adjustable but I said I had no money to pay the difference but if they fitted it I would accept,
They had supplied me again with an unsuitable lift inspite of being measured so supply or remove and refund my money , in the meantime at 88 if I had an accident through slippingthey will be responsible.
I have had no response after the engineers visit so now moving to the next stage.
So much for ableworld. Graham J

The service we received exceeded my expectations. Firstly a thank you to Bridget for arranging a visit swiftly from Paul, who knows everything there is to know about stairlifts and I was so pleased that he was the one installing it too. I wasn’t able to be there for the installation but he spent time ensuring they knew how to work it safely.

A very welcoming experience. We didn’t feel pressured into purchasing anything. Bridget was extremely helpful, gave good advice & answered all our questions. A demonstration & trial run outside the shop were also very welcomed.

Confidently we purchased products for the father in law. And also will purchase a stair lift.
Massive hot day. Air con was on, a delight helping us to allow more time to purchase.
Outstanding service well done Stuart!

we recently visited Ableworld Gloucester to enquire about a mobility chair and were welcomed by Michelle who had only worked there for a week. Because of her lack of experience she called a senior member of staff who could fill her in with details we needed so she learned on the job. She managed to successfully finalise our purchase once we settled on a particular model. Well done Michelle!

We were served by Stuart at Gloucester shop, who was extremely helpful and knowledgable both times we went in to ask for info and advice on electric road scooter. He gave us his time without reserve even though he was clearly very busy and never did we feel under pressure. We had two demonstrations and chance to try out scooters - one at the shop and one brought to our home. On both occasions I was able to try the scooter, which we then decided to purchase - the Athena scooter, which was on a good deal in the sale, with a free bag. Stuart thought ahead by bringing the bag out for the demonstration incase we did want the scooter. We were delighted to be able to keep the scooter there and then and not to have to wait for one to be delivered. Thanks very much to Stuart and to Gloucester AbleWorld branch.

I required a mobility scooter, but only had a vague idea of what i wanted.
The customer service was so helpful and friendly. Pointing out the "do's & don'ts", to ensure I made the correct decision for my needs and affordability.
I was encouraged to learn in the shop and given another demonstration when it was delivered.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful? I wasn't looking forward to the experience, but the staff put me at my ease.

I can't stress enough how helpful Bridget and Stuart were.
They gave me some great advice on my first second hand scooter. Even checked the battery and charger for free... Putting my mind at rest.
I won't hesitate to go back to them when I need a little more help and service in the future.
An incredibly friendly service.
Thank you again.

Once again I write to say how deplorable ableworld is in their treatment of their customers. We waited 8 weeks to have a key housing changed. The scooter was sold with the proviso that the repair was done before taking possession of the scooter. When the seller and I went in to ableworld they were very disrespectful and rude. The seller told ableworld that they had his permission to speak to me but they refused point blank just as they had refused to acknowledge the LPA given to them on the first day there. They are rude, abusive and tell lies. A company to avoid at all costs. I have deliberately written ableworld with a small ''a'' to indicate my disgust with that company. I would do without a scooter if ableworld were the only company that could help me. They have low standards eg. A 60/69% battery charging rate is acceptable to them when other companies expect an 80%+ standard. There are other mobility companies out there that are first class so dont settle for a sub-standard company. They get zero stars.

Visited the Gloucester store and dealt with Stuart. Really knowledgeable and friendly and I didn't feel rushed at all. He went through everything with me and made sure I was familiar with all the workings and the taking apart and reassembly did the car transport. Great company to deal with
