Went to academy off 410 and military. The manager TROY was rude to customers and didn't seem to nice to employees. Don't be customer service if you don't want to be around people. That was not the first time I saw him being rude. He was really pompous. I go least once a week and avoid him at all cost.

They have job posting on a few sites saying they are looking for Full-Time worker. They told my Fiance they would hire him just for him to wait 2 weeks and then call him they do not have Full-Time space. What a joke. DO NOT APPLY THERE BUNCH OF LIARS

If I could give a zero or negative review I would. We are in the market for a treadmill and had decided on the Proform Pro 9000. Upon finding that Academy was having an excellent sale on this unit, we went to the store to purchase. We were told that they didn't have one in stock, but if we ordered it they would have it shipped to the store free and we could then pick it up there. We were also told that if we had or opened an Academy credit card we would be able to get a 5% credit on the purchase. The lag time for the credit card approval is 7-10 days and since we hadn't heard back from them yet (4 days later) we decided to go ahead and use an existing credit card so we didn't miss the sale (ending in 5 days). When attempting to order the treadmill and have it shipped to our local store I found it wouldn't allow me to choose that option. Several phone calls later and the final one with the manager of our local Lafayette, Indiana store, I was told that the free shipping wasn't guaranteed unless it was in their distribution warehouse and no that they did not do inter store shipments. Had this been told to us in the beginning, we would have gone ahead and forgone the 5% discount to get the free shipping to the store. The manager stated that there was no avenue to accomplish this at this point. Just another example of a store not living up to its' promises to its' customers. Having bought many high dollar items throughout the years from Academy, we will not be returning. This could have all been avoided had their employees given us the correct/complete information at the time.
Online ordering is a joke quality control horrible
Online ordering is a joke! My order all came with the wrong sizes. Then the new order was shipped to the store when I selected home delivery. Then I got to the store to pick it up and they canceled it on me. A separate order I placed came and the shirts all had holes in them. When I called customer service I spoke with someone who barely knew English and all they could offer me was a 15% off coupon. I’m done, never shopping there again.

Ordered on-line Daiwa Fuego 2500 spinning reel Advertised at 109.99 with 20 percent off that price. Received the reel, with a bit of a delay. When reel arrived, big big price sticker saying 99.99. So yes, to say the least I was upset by their BS pricing. Contacted Customer lack of Service. They said oh you got it less then had you come directly to one of our stores, So basically why you bitchin. When I informed them this is a very poor business practice and I wouldn’t shop there again, then comes Well you can return the purchase. After I responded to the ignorant Customer Service rep saying “Keep the 10 dollars I will never buy from your business again” Then I was offered the 10 dollar credit/ refund. What did I do…. “Urine” poor business relations Keep the 10 dollar additional profit. Never will my family or I buy again from Academy Sports to many sporting goods stores who will treat you way better.. Academy your profits have now slipped 5 family members. Hope it was worth it.. Sell your stock in this publicly traded farce. Recently went to buy new running shoes and was surprised at the poor selection and the lack of any one to assist with reaching the shoes I wanted. The end result was getting to the cashier who was rude and dismissive.I won't be going back.

i wish i can give a 0 rating. I ordered a shoe in a size 9m. when my package came, not only was the shoe the wrong shoe, i got a totally different and the shoe was a size 12m. Called customer service and they said that they don't have the shoe i ordered in that size and i can issue you a refund. whatever, what i really wanted was the shoe that i ordered, and they did not go over and above what i think customer service is to make this correct. I total mess up. i can see the same shoe coming in a wrong size but not a totally different one and in 3 sizes bigger than the size you ordered. will not order from them again. no second chances!!!!

Frustrated by Poor Handling of a Return
I had a 10 x 10 canopy that had torn in four places. Purchased on April 23 and used only three times, it was in terrible shape and needed replaced. I tried online to gather information on how to do a replacement and was told only the store could help me. Went to the store was told to get in the checkout line only to find out I was supposed to have picked the replacement before getting in line. Back in line with the replacement they credited the original charge and ran my credit card for the new one. This caused me to be charged an additional $6 had I not mentioned it I would’ve been billed at the new rate. Really disappointed my problem was due to separate and independent systems and poor understanding of store processes. Expect better from this company.

My excellent experience with Academy
In spite of poor reviews, I took a chance and placed an online order on a hard to find item at Academy, and am glad I did! Not only did they have the best price, but my item shipped immediately and arrived within 2 days. Not to mention, I chatted online with the support team just to confirm the item was in-stock and the live agent couldn’t have been more nice and helpful. I would highly recommend Academy.com for your shopping needs!
Visited the Academy store in Mesquite
Visited the Academy store in Mesquite, Texas today. There were 2 people checking and 1 watching the door and ZERO employees working on the floor to help people. No help in shoes or menswear and no open dressing rooms. Obviously the investment firm who owns this company has ruined it for everyone. I personally will never shop here again.

I ordered a Bike for my son
I ordered a Bike for my son. It showed that I had purchased it and I could pick it up the next day. I woke up to an email that said it was no longer available. I contacted them and requested either a rain check for the price listed or they had the same bike just different color available for the same price. The 3rd option I gave them was to lose me as a customer. They chose option 3. I had told my 6 year old that I bought him a bike and would have it home when he got here. I can buy anything they have somewhere else. I have unsubscribed from their emails and deleted my app. I will no longer use Academy Sports and will tell everyone I meet not to shop there.

Ordered a vortex viper red dot on 9/8/22.Order was cancelled by academy on 9/9/22.Called customer service on 9/10/22 and they reordered it for me only to have my order cancelled again on9/11/22.Spoke to a supervisor on 9/12/22 and received an email stating that the vendor didn’t have the packing material to ship lithium (which is the battery)usps requires it to be wrapped in bubble wrap.This is such B/S.Mind you this item is still for sale on Academy’s website.I’m done with doing business with Academy.
