Happy Accident

I was booked to see an optician for and eyes problem. I had never heard of Ace & Tate I was treated with great tact and friendliness. I was so impressed that I asked about their prices for glasses. I looked at the frames I saw in the shop. I also asked if a payment plan could be arranged. They said yes.I then got a date to get a full eye test and bought glasses They had a special offer on, buy one get one free. So good! Great helpful and friendly staff from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Zara was particular

Zara was particular, skilled and thorough. She was also engaged and gentle. I was very happy with my experience. I felt acknowledged and my questions were answered clearly and kindly.
I have been a client of ace & tate for many years now and they have never let me down. The men who helped me choose frames were also very helpful and kind. I like the range of frames offered by ace & tate very much and have found frames that really suit me.

Update - Avoid - long delivery delays, still not received glasses bought in January

I liked the design and the store (Earlham St) was helpful. But once payment was taken the whole thing falls apart. The delivery process is shocking. I still don't have the glasses and have been told that due to an unspecified 'logistics' problem, the order will take at least 5 weeks. Reading the numerous 1 and 2 star reviews on here suggests I'm far from the only customer experiencing this and that 'logistics' is frequently cited by Ace & Tate as the reason for letting customers down. The company seems remarkably relaxed about its performance. So... don't be taken in by the store experience. The reality is very problematic

Further to the company's reply - in fact I had to contact them and chase when the order wasn't fulfilled. They only updated after I'd complained. No pro-activity. And they seem to have the same shipment problems on multiple separate occasions over the past year, so not an isolated problem.

We’re sorry the delivery experience hasn’t lived up to it. In this case, the delay was caused by a shipment being lost in transit. As soon as we had more clarity, we followed up with an additional email update to explain what happened and share the revised timeline.

That doesn’t make the wait less frustrating and we get that. When something goes wrong behind the scenes, it’s still on us to communicate clearly and keep things moving.

Terrible delivery times

Can't fault the in-store experience. But delivery of my glasses was meant to take 4-10 business days. I contacted Ace and Tate and they said they are having issues with orders so will duplicate my order to get it to me. I have to now wait another 4-10 business days. They can't make it any faster even though I've waited. What on earth has happened to that first order?! If I hadn't contacted them, would it have never come? How do I know this won't happen again? There's been no real explanation or apologies, and it's extremely poor as glasses are something I actually need rather than just want. Really really unimpressed

Long time customer

I've been going to Ace & Tate for approx. 8 years, I haven't been let down yet. Always look forward to calling into the store for eye tests and picking out new glasses. Recently bought my first sunglasses in there also which I tested out on holiday & I'm delighted with them.

Good service but terrible lens quality

The Ace & Tate staff have always been very friendly when I've been there in person. I like the styles of the frames. however the lens quality is appalling.

I've had to pay a lot of money to have lenses reglazed, brackets without any replacement of the frame and within a year the lenses scratched beyond the point where they're usable. This is after paying for the highest quality lens package plus making them thin for my relatively high prescription.

Because of this unfortunately I can't recommend Ace and Tate and will be looking elsewhere to get glasses in the future.

I have an issue with my glasses and I…

I have an issue with my glasses and I have been back about it and emails too
Today (3/2/26) regarding it again after I went for a second eye test in 6 months at space saver and I was told the lenses for reading are not correct and this is the reason I can’t see properly. I asked for a refund as I don't trust any replacement and I m within my right to ask for a refund as I m unhappy with it

Excellent costumer service and beautiful glasses

The optician consultation was friendly and efficient. After that, I was kindly assisted by Linda, who not only helped me to choose the most adequate glasses for my daily routine, but also guided me on choosing my second multifocal sunglasses that I got for free! Very happy with my two pair of glasses!

Best eyewear shopping thus far

Really recommendable experience, especially where I was attended at the Maastricht Ace & Tate Store! Starting from the beginning, I was warmly welcomed into the store, and had a thorough eye test where I felt very taken care of by the practitioners. After that, I was given attentive guidance by the workers to find a suitable frame for my necessities. An experience that often can become stressful, amidst so many options in choosing the right frame, became quickly enjoyable with the super lovely crew, who helped me find the current frame I have and which I fell in love with - Easton in Sugar Man. Super happy with my frame and with the possible add-ons that make it much lighter and more resistant (especially for clumsy individuals like me lol). Can definitely recommend shopping there with this easy-going and trustworthy crew! :)

The atmosphere inside the shop is great. They guide you through the process of buying glasses and they explain really well the different alternatives in the quality of the lenses.
Best quality-price in Maastricht to be honest.

Poor first experience

I very rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately I feel I have no choice in this case.

I purchased a £145 pair of Ace & Tate Alfred glasses and have since been left with an expensive product that I simply cannot use. The frames cause significant pressure at the side of my head and behind the ears, leaving painful indents and making them unwearable even for something as simple as reading a chapter of a book.

I’ve returned to the store four times for adjustments (including multiple adjustments in a single visit), but the issue has never been resolved. The discomfort is clearly mechanical rather than prescription-related.

To make matters more frustrating, I was initially told by the store that an exchange could be offered, only for Customer Services to later override this and confirm that no frame exchange or goodwill solution would be provided. Since then, I’ve been left stuck with glasses that actively cause pain.

I’ve been patient, made repeated trips, and tried to find practical solutions — even offering to pay for modifications — but ultimately I’ve been left with a costly pair of glasses I can’t wear. What’s most disappointing is that there appears to be very little focus on customer retention or goodwill once you fall outside their return window, despite clear evidence that the product is not wearable.

Really disappointed, especially as this was my first experience with Ace & Tate.
